zr1 is also better in the turns, higher top speed, better slalom, handling g's, braking, and track times like at nurburgring and laguna seca, etc. 2010 zr1 is about $109, gets 20mpg, and has 2 seats like the $162K spec v.
@RnB123100 if you goto road and track, motortrend, or edmunds insidevideo, they have all tested the ZR1 as better handling, higher g skid pad numbers, higher slalom speed, and better track times than the GTR. in fact, the ZR1 was tested faster and better braking as well. it's not my opinion just stating the facts. look it up.
the $162K spec v is a two seater. this helped save about 150lbs from the GTR because the GTR weighs over 500lb more than a ZR1.

The C6 Z06 goes for roughly 84 grand... right on the playing field for the Godzilla. 550 hp vs. 485 (although it does vary a lot), more direct feel from the vette at the cost of less electronics; you have a choice now if you're in the market for a bargain supercar.
Weak review of the GT-R. How do you take a car with almost 500 HP and just cruise around at 45 mph and talk about it? I want to see some launches, drifting, etc...
Because everyone else that reviews the GT-R does that, people don't need more of the same. Plus the majority of driving done is a car is 'cruising at 45 mph', people that want to know about a car would also like to know how it performs off the track as well as on the track.

Likely the turbos themselves are worth 200-250 hp, and the ZR1's supercharger is probably around 100 hp more than the difference over the base LS3 as well.
A non-turbo GTR wouldn't just use the same exact engine without the turbos; it would most likely just get the Z's engine. THIS is what I meant.

But you lose the warranty from the first time you press it..... and all those 0-100km/h (0-62mph) in 3,5 sec times are done with the launch control on and VDC off. So basically you have a car you can't use completely...
You should've explained more about handling and ride quality. Should've compared it to other exotics such as the Turbo or maybe BMW 6-series. I really want to know how stiff it is (TWSS) compared to other rides. If its bearable or not.
3 modes - R / Normal / Comf ['comfy- mode' as wife called it].
Ran the car mostly on R, but it was unliked by everyone in the car and ended up sitting in comfy-mode on the street - making it only somewhat bearable 4 the passengers and dissapointing 4 me as it felt too much like a typical car.
Go fast and the car dials up 2 R. But, IN R - felt very crisp. Just was not getting tire-bite feedback from the wheel.
Computers never shut off so 8-10 degree slip is it. Car DOES corner!
No, it's not the fact that it has nitrogen in the tires. Air is 70% nitrogen anyways. The only reason to use nitrogen is that it doesn't fluxuate or leak as much as normal air.

Car has a built in 4-tire gauge. GT-R was delivered @ 29lbs cold and running hard got them up to 33lb [right front came up higher 1st as running counter-clock!]

Weak review of the GT-R. How do you take a car with almost 500 HP and just cruise around at 45 mph and talk about it? I want to see some launches, drifting, etc...

Because everyone else that reviews the GT-R does that, people don't need more of the same. Plus the majority of driving done is a car is 'cruising at 45 mph', people that want to know about a car would also like to know how it performs off the track as well as on the track.

No, I don't hate Corvette. But, C + [some] owners ARE 'different'. So, the taunt was too easy [and 4 fun].
GT-R on the street. To many [older / non-car pax] it was 100% stealth. To carfans, I got BIG, enthusiastic, waves / thumbs ups.

Yeah, trashed transmissions in only a few hard launches and voiding you warranty if "Launch Control" is engaged, (which is the only way to get the real Clammed numbers), But as a vette guy, i will say it is a sexy car. Id love to have one but my Zo6 still coast less...

Obviously Nissan lowered the compression ratio to accommodate the turbos, but that isn't specific to the GT-R ; almost all turbos do this
Likely the turbos themselves are worth 200-250 hp, and the ZR1's supercharger is probably around 100 hp more than the difference over the base LS3 as well.
A non-turbo GTR wouldn't just use the same exact engine without the turbos; it would most likely just get the Z's engine. THIS is what I meant.

Think Leo hit it on the head....The GTR, clinical, mundane,....A very boring ride, no soul, no heritage, no history. For all the snot nosed kids out there, ten years or so of "history" is NO history. When you can trace your cars heritage thru twelve 'platforms' and legions of cars following your cars lead....then you can have a proud ride...otherwise its just an engineers quirky little project.

Wow, educate yourself fanboy. The GT-R has been around since the1968 with the 2000GT-R, in Japan, and the Skyline moniker is from the 1958 ALSI- 1 Series. In 1989 the R32 GT-R came out which introduced the AWD TT setup that you see today. Before the GT-R's were RWD NA setups. You're one of those uneducated Americans that think history is only American. It's been out in Japan for over 30 years. It's got more history than your Corvette! Oh and there's 11 generations of Skyline!

A question for you about this warranty (launch control).
How does it exactly work?
You press the button and puff its gone?
What if someone else pushes it for example: you are driving a girl in a car with you and she asks: "What does this button do?"
You say: " don't press it" and she smiles and press it.
Do you lose warranty on things like that?

But you lose the warranty from the first time you press it..... and all those 0-100km/h (0-62mph) in 3,5 sec times are done with the launch control on and VDC off. So basically you have a car you can't use completely...

You should've explained more about handling and ride quality. Should've compared it to other exotics such as the Turbo or maybe BMW 6-series. I really want to know how stiff it is (TWSS) compared to other rides. If its bearable or not.

3 modes - R / Normal / Comf ['comfy- mode' as wife called it].
Ran the car mostly on R, but it was unliked by everyone in the car and ended up sitting in comfy-mode on the street - making it only somewhat bearable 4 the passengers and dissapointing 4 me as it felt too much like a typical car.
Go fast and the car dials up 2 R. But, IN R - felt very crisp. Just was not getting tire-bite feedback from the wheel.
Computers never shut off so 8-10 degree slip is it. Car DOES corner!

No, it's not the fact that it has nitrogen in the tires. Air is 70% nitrogen anyways. The only reason to use nitrogen is that it doesn't fluxuate or leak as much as normal air.

Car has a built in 4-tire gauge. GT-R was delivered @ 29lbs cold and running hard got them up to 33lb [right front came up higher 1st as running counter-clock!]
Should have / could have / but did not play with pressures [long story].
Would have tried higher / def higher rear v frnt to dial out the last bits of understeer and to see if it would get me some feel.

Your review of the GT-R was very good. You must be the last person on Earth who subjectively reviews a car ragardless of prejudices or bias. Even MotorTrend, TopGear, etc. review cars based a lot on brand loyalty ad predetermined admiration or hatred towards a car. Also, good job on giving pros AND cons about the car. maybe you should be the exclusive "FLDetouer", maybe it should just be the Leo Show.

I don't know how many times I've heard japanese sports cars described as "lacking soul" or "too clinical". I wonder if that's somewhat a projection of the evaluators pre-conceived notions about asians as a people.. And before any one starts assuming things.. I'm not Asian and I own a 911. I enjoy driving the Porsche a lot and I like its looks more than most japanese sports cars. I just think there are quite a few japanese sports cars that have as much passion and are equaly emotional to drive.

a] Fast car [like a race car] IS a tool - it's the instrument 2 get the driver going fast.
So, doing the task without drama is OK.
b] 2 me it was more 'detatchment'. Too little tire-bite feedback, too many tech assists grabbing the wheel with me, too much video-game dashplay - made it all in-human.
c] Dr. Temna needs 2 teach this AstroBoy [of-a-car] some human feelings and emotions.

Yeah the GTR is twin-turbo. Match it up, and the ZR1 should have AT LEAST 100 hp more than it does. How weak is the GTR without the turbos? Probably like the G37 coupe.
Tech doesn't always have to refer to computers, like the McLaren F1's carbon-fiber chassis. VERY high-tech.
And no I'm not a GTR fanboy, just disappointed by GM's cost-cutting on an expensive car. Of course I could forgive this if the roof came off! That's a step backwards (C4 ZR-1 had it)

I think they did void the warranty when it first came out because something was wrong with the programming in the vdc

Think you're right. Hence the lower RPM programmng. BUT, the manual still says 'only turn-off VDC+ for getting car unstuck in bad weather' [or something like that, I recall].
Whole topic just still feels 'sketchy'.
Lower RPM was to 1st stop the trans damage, I'm sure.

tiptronic transmissions are more superior when distributing torque then standard manual... It treats your clutch better, then you or any other driver would...It would suck to have yo replace your GTR's $10k clutch...
