Tony this is great banjo teaching- I've been teaching exactly this way too for quite a few years. Very nice clear showing of how to do dropthumb step by step, breaking it down into individual parts, and how to get it right slowly and patiently, and then incorporate it into your playing later. Excellent! :)
@thisisseb It's a dilema what advice to take sometimes. My banjer teacher is a Scruggs-picker and against frailing and telling me to stick to one style, another friend of mine is against 3-finger style. Both great players. I feel arrogant sometimes by igrnoring their advice but I'm of the philosophy that music wouldnt have developed if people didn't experiment and if a technique helps your playing, then thats ok. I play gitar too and found that mixing clawhammer and picking works well ;-)
Tony is awesome. He is a great example of why the banjo community is so great. Players teaching people to play for free. I think there is going to be a very high percentage of banjo players in heaven. (smiley)

There's one thing that travel's farther than high pitched notes and the space shuttle...the sound of a lerner banjo player's notes...thanx for the muffling tips.
I know this is baby stuff...but I can't 'get it'(technique) from the books....please keep the instructional stuff coming...17 people have 'favourited' so I'm not your only student!!:)
