great movie, just watched it for the first time today. Big Steve fan, Bobby Darin was good in this as well.

I've been reading Bob Newharts book and he mentions that the heat was unbearable on this shoot and he (Bob) was trying to get "offed" early in the movie so he could take on more lucrative offers that popped up for his comedy. Eventually the studio tired of the cost overruns and stopped sending the director film stock. So that is why this movie has an abrupt and "interpret your own way" ending.
