  • when i was little i nearly cried during the NET color logo's song. Not because it scared me, but because it was so FREAKIN' sad.

  • SO many people putting the pbs logo up to their faces

  • 438543 views?????? wtf!!

  • A great collection of logos, but is there any one with a link to the PBS Digital logo.

  • Why would you hire a guy with a lisp to do your voice shit?

  • 1:47 Was that Dr. Phil?

  • holy shit pbs fuck and asswipe

  • 0:49 always creeped me the fuck out for some reason.

  • I miss the old PBS,Nick,Cartoon Network,and WB!!

  • The PBS Logos From 1971, 1984 And 1989-1993 were the best logos.

  • I love pbs

  • I never noticed before that the P-Face got turned around!

  • 0:49 is my favorite.. with that (literally) awesome 70s-80s Philip Glass style synthesizer sound.

Still, the old WGBH Boston "stinger" (q.v.) is better than any of these.

1:00 reminds me of The Microsoft Sound from Windows 95. (Ugh.)

And sorry, but all the yoga-jumping ones (1:30-2:17) are really tacky and pretentious. And repetitive!

  • THIS.... is PBS.

  • I remember the left facing face with jingle right before doctor who == I got shivers when I heard it.

  • HA HA! The B and W Net logo says

This is N.E.T The Nationel Educationl Televis Net!

  • the youtube loading icon looks exactly like the first few seconds of this video...

  • my favorite is with the people lifting the sign to their face...its a good thing they play it over and over otherwise the replay button would blow up

  • NET - A national broacasting service network

PBS - A public broacasting service

  • @EasterExplorer

    NET sux

    PBS rocks

  • I like the logo and sound effects of the one at 050. It reminds me of most of the cool creative things that came out the late 60s early 70s, when creativity in the arts, music and cinema seemed to be peaking before the boring sterility of the incoming digital age.

  • wii -R- PBS?

  • 1:32-2:18 they keep repeating the same thing--xcept with different people! LOL

  • 0:50-0:53 catchy!

  • We are TE-DI-OUS. :-P

  • happy anniversary pbs

  • When did NET become known as PBS?

  • @tpir1972 1970

  • lol 1:32 to 2:18

  • This is getting monotonous.

  • I miss the logo from 0:48...I guess it's like everyone has their own Doctor Who that is their favorite. :)

  • 0:55 reminds me of Zoom and the days of cutie saying "I'm Bernadette" !

  • 14 people diliked the video when NET came up. They expected PBS.

  • @njforever1234 but NET Is pbs but it same and different Name.

  • @njforever1234 but NET Is pbs but it same and different Name.

  • You're missing the logo with the little barking dog.

  • @mcog2006 pbs kids?

  • @thebloodzone2 Ditto. In fact, it's my favorite.

  • 1:00 I like the backround music in that logo.

  • @ 0:49 is the best one even though its scary as shit.

  • @waveali Could never understand why people are scared or freaked out by logo/music for network identifications. The circa 1970 PBS version apparently isn't the only one freaking people or scaring them: the mid 1960s CBS eye id or the Screen Gems dancing sticks logo does as well. I find them all fascinating and very nostalgic; I have vivid and very fond recollections of these as I'm a child of the 60s having been born in 1961. The creators of these had true talent unlike what you see today!

  • @musclen2phat Its that freaky high pitched Dr. Who synth sound. Its causes a immediate reaction. A lot of bumpers and logos from the 70s used weird creepy sounds.

  • @waveali I guess I would have to agree with you that they sound weird and creepy, but I like that! I guess that I'm kind of desensitized to it since I grew up hearing this style of music all the time. It was all the rage during the 60s and 70s. Creepy I suppose, but doesn't freak me out. For creepy look up the theme music for "Wild, Wild World of Animals." It's on YouTube and it has that sound of the 70s that I'm talking about.

  • No doubt the best ones were late 70s and 80s. After that it just got silly.

  • @ashland1977 how are the old ones better, they look crappy and sound messed up, of course the newer ones sound and look better, i like the new ones, why do u ppl think that everything old is better

  • @orrkhari u ppl? lol. Just because something is new, doesnt meant it is better either. It is a matter of opinion obviously. BTW, the old ones "look crappy" because they did the best they could with what technology and money they had back then. I beleive that in the 1980s they were the best. Thats all.

  • @ashland1977 "...because they did the best they could with what technology and money they had back then," quite the contrary! True, they didn't have digital/computerized technology and in spite of that, they had atonishing creativity and most networks at that time had full scale orchestras and lots of money. I think that the graphics hold up surprisingly well after all these years. I appreciate the computer technology, but where I have an issue is with the music they have now; can't compare.

  • fhj

  • there new

  • there old

  • 1:14 My mom's fave logo when she was 20 :D

  • They're not scary enough anymore. They should be kind-of haunting.

  • i should make one of these my intros since im PBS lls

  • Dr. Phil at 1:46? xD

  • i like the newer ones

  • wtf, the same bumper 75 times at the end?

  • Та-да-та-да-таммм!

  • I remember seeing 1:31 as a child

  • 80s were best. No doubt. The dark male voice is nice

  • @ATITANIC1992 i agree with you all the way

  • 14 people don't know that this is PBS

  • I think they've gotten a bit loss creative since after the 1990s.

  • This is PBS?

  • The best one was the PBS of the 80s.

  • god dammit

  • I dont like how many logos of the adalts raise the sign there is waaaay to much of that!!!

  • youre missing sum

  • Comment removed

  • That one at 0:50 is the one I grew up with as I was a HUGE PBS freak until about 5 years ago.

  • In 1962, NET becomes PBS. New logos, new ways to help.

  • The one at 0:49 gives me tears....I was just in 2nd grade back then, completely unaware of the harsh realities of life facing me later on :-(

  • was the 1:14 logo was in KQED or other bay area PBS Stations were on the loma prieta earthquake?

  • I remember seeing the one at :40. Damn...I'm old!

  • @zcg3 Damn, you ARE old.

  • You Forgot The 2009 One!

  • @jasongunning2468 This video was made in 2007, so an entirely new video has to be made.

  • @jasongunning2468 but this was uploaded in 2007

  • @Windsmiss NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • You don't have all of the NET logos... but you sure do have the PBS ones down.

  • 0:49 and 1:05 were the best ones so far!

  • You Get Rid of..THESE... VIDES

  • This is P, B, ASS!

  • Dr Phil looks a little to Happy 1:45

  • Connie Chung 1:52

  • The logo at 0:49 brings back memories for this gen-xer

  • @308CaliberJustice Ha, Me too. I was kid for that one, but remember it well.

  • Apparently, this is PBS.

  • wtf is with the people jumping out and back in the logo

  • my next tatt is gunna be the PBS dudes head.

  • what? no love for 1:25-1:30? that one was my favorite. i was 2 when it came out. i remember watching shows like nature, this old house, and nova at night, usually before i had a bath, and just loving it. good times, good times. now im almost 16 and dealing with trying to get through high school. ugh.

  • how the heck did you find all this???? great job.

  • I love PBS!

  • i miss 1:14 PBS logo it makes me sad-_-

  • @daminmancejin i hear you. why do they have to keep getting rid of their logos? why can't they pick one logo and stick with it?

  • @daminmancejin get a life

  • @daminmancejin me too, the mid 1990s were awesome.

  • hell yea it still is too me i hate stuff that come on tv now days

  • This was Before Wordgirl.

  • It was NET before it became PBS! Thanks for the upload! I was born in 1996 and grew up with PBS! I still watch some of the shows today! I remember bumpers with the people holding the P-head discs quite well! What kind of music is in those bumpers? Please comment on my channel if you know?

  • It was NET before it became PBS! Thanks for the upload! I was born in 1996 and grew up with PBS! I still watch some of the shows today! I remember the people holding the P-head discs quite well!

  • It was NET before it became PBS! Thanks for the upload! I was born in 1996 and grew up with PBS! I still watch some of the shows today!

  • i remember the one at 1:40

  • Is PBS like BBC One or Channel Four for you guys in America?

  • NET is the Russian word for "no"--pronounced "nyet"--and that's proof enough for me that everyone at PBS are, and have always been communists.

  • @funkmike you've gotta be kidding< right?

  • 1:20 is the one I remember the most.

  • Many Bothans died to bring us this information.

  • :50 is my favorite!

  • THIS... IS PBS

    HEEE, HEEE , EE, EEEE

  • 1:14

This is the sequence I remember the most...

  • Glad i dobt get that channel

  • LOL some of thses PBS logos are funny!!!!!!

  • So before the NET supplied us with information, the NET supplied us with information, then the turned the NET into the PEOPLE, which were personifed by the Face in the Sun or Jesus Christ, and now we've totally lost everything we stand for and the man controls us all.

  • @joshbaby2k7 Yeah. That about sums it up, sadly.

  • Gosh, do I remember that one at :50 when I was a kid. That was the signal that something good was coming on!

  • @rockergirl83 That's the best one, they ought to bring it back.

  • the old ones are better

  • @patrick9648 no thier not

  • how did you make this it would have taken yars to get all the footege.

  • reviewing the past makes you think about where you were at point and time. things like this reminds me of my childhood.

  • I'm glad I don't remember the first ones from NET especially the creepy music and the house. I could jut imagine myself getting up to go to the bathroom or for a drink of water and hearing that NET music. I'd have probably peed my pants and screamed for an hour.

  • I meant 0:50 GMAN had it right.

  • Interesting how a simple 10 second tune can bring back a childhood at :50. I remember that so well.

  • THIS IS PBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Heyaa~ Heyaa~

  • this IS pbs

  • Happy 3rd Anniversary of this great tribute to the PBS logo!

  • 0:50 I really like that one and the two that follow it. <3

  • PBS stands for: Pure Bull Shit!

  • THIS IS PBS

  • 2:19 is when my memory started kicking in

  • @Windsmiss thats not dr. phil

  • hey, its dr.phil

  • how long were they net?

  • i love that NET tune @ 16 seconds.

  • Theres a new PBS logo now.... here in 2010.....oh and tomorrow i get to visit the PBS station here in new mexico

  • GOD DAMN!!!

  • Funny. The last "logos" use a similar idea like the Franco-german channel ARTE, with ordinary people...

  • am i high or do i see a pyramid and a eye @ 0:25?

  • Does anybody remember NET PLAYHOUSE and the excellent documentaries on NET? I said this before and I will say it again, it is a damnable shame that NET got pushed out of providing national program content because of its so-called 'liberal' bias. PBS is a pale imitation of what NET was. I am happy that these logos remind folks that there was something far superior to PBS once upon a time.

  • @Windsmiss Yep.

  • wow, this is like taking a trip through time without a time machine.

  • I like the 1:00 to 1:14 ones.

  • starting at 1:31 weah uh waeh uh

  • What year was the first logo made?

  • @Windsmiss LOL!!! I was thinking that too.

  • 0:33

Instead the announcer said National Educational Television Network, he said Public Television Network.

  • I grew up on PBS including "The Red Green Show"

  • @TheUndertakerfan2002 Great show, I'm a huge fan of TRGS.

  • For me, the NET logo with the creepy, icy synth and stern announcer was a LOT more scary than the Moog synth PBS (which a lot of people find scary).

  • @lurch321 Which one was the moog synth PBS logo.

  • I'm just talking about the logo used in the 70s and early 80s. (Starts @ :49).

  • i swear i saw dr phil in one of the logos where the people where holding the logos above their faces. Btw, those were alot people who held the logo up...

  • go here: /watch?v=t-a1g2ojd6M to watch my logos and post video responses, pls :D

  • This is NOT! NET

  • the one after the "PBS People" music is so pretty

  • When did NET become PBS?

  • This is PBS

    This is PBS

This is PBS<----seriously you needed everyone ?

    This is PBS

    This is PBS

  • This is PBS

  • They should bring back the one at 0:50. It's cute. *_*

  • Theres a new logo now...

  • that evolved fast

  • I never really noticed until now, just how annoying those are. I guess the annoyance is amplified with the repetition.

  • Was NET better than PBS back then?

  • Anthony: I like NET logo at 0:00 - 0:37.

  • NET PBS!

  • You forgot one. The one that came after the 7th one should be that cartoon one with the kids and the dog, and they sing that scary song.

  • @powerpup97 That's the "P-Pals".

  • 1993-present-memories!!!!!!!!

  • i grew up starting and 1:05 onward

  • @TheSupergamer64

    5. PBS 1971 - 1984

    6. PBS 1984 - 1989

    7. PBS 1989 - 1993

    8. PBS 1993 - 1996

    9. PBS 1996 - 1997

These are all the ones I grew up with.

  • what are you 7 years old? damn

  • never mind I thought you said 1:45 my bad

  • The logos have certainly evolved over time.

  • There is another one now, it's the same song as 2001, but instead of many people, there is a single person saying "I am PBS." Sometimes it is in a different melody. (Example: a middle aged lady holding lots of roses and the current theme is in a sweeter "flutelike" melody.) Can you add these series to the current vid you have?

  • 400th comment that I had to post.

  • my mind's gonna explode
