  • Well Refer with jeans and white shirt LOL .... rly bad no tradition @ all thats what a Russian sport looks like in the US

  • Were in nj can i learn this?

  • @f350powerstroke samboschools. c o m

  • What song is This!??!?!?!???!?//?

  • @narutofox68 It is called "Stop" by Kopek. A great Irish Band.

  • what is this?

  • no offence but american combat sambo is at a very bad level :(( or it was just a show fight?

  • @ViorelSnap

It was an exhibition. To introduce people to the sport...what it is. These two guys trained together. It was not a full fight.

  • @sambosteve

ok sorry mate ))) keep on trying ! i practice combat sambo in Moldova

  • Everywhere i go i see sambosteve

  • @adam6433

    Don't forget it....LOL

  • i like sombo =)

  • These guys will kick my ass lol

  • Little boys playing at being Big Stwong Men. Laughable.

  • What would REALLY be laughable is you telling that to one of thier faces. Pretentious snobs get their faces caved in lmao

  • Been there, done that. They whine and stomp, but they're basically pussies.

  • So you've had your face caved in for being a pretentious snob? Idk sorry but people who really dedicate themselves in to being fighters arent probably the best to call pussies or 'laughable'... This I know.

  • So all it takes for your piddly little buttons to be pushed is someone being a "pretentious snob"? What a lowlife attitude. Shows how insecure you are.

  • You know as well as I do that makes no sense. We've never met first off, ya douchebag. And your 'nose in the air' attitude was the only thing I was dissing. Chump little punk bitches who dont watch their damn mouth in front of serious people get snuffed out is all I'm sayin kiddo

  • Ooh, I'm, like, SO scared. HAH HA Ha hahaha. Your whining about "nose in the air" attitudes tells the world more about YOU and your insecurities than anything. Get the chip off your skinny shoulder and the snot off your nose.

  • Heh your constant claim of me being insecure makes me wonder about you, since your so quick to attack me about it and 1up me. You dont seem to get it kid, I'm sayin YOUR the one with the chip on his shoulder. None of your limpdick little quips are gunna flip the script either. You have sounded like an arrogant prick this whole time. You do realize this right? Its the whole reason I even commented u in the first place. Me calling you a prick for making a prick statement does not make me insecure.

  • Take a chill pill, little one. Cookies and milk later!

  • ЛошкИ какие-то :) 2-й детский разряд максимум :)

  • это порно, а не БС. :о)

  • Шортики моднявые)) Унас в таких никого не видел..

  • what the fuck ? American sambo ? SAMBO is Russian !!!! idiots

  • Yes, but they Americanized a few of the moves, and they fight in America. Therefore, the ASA was born. Sambo was orrigionaly used to train the Russian military, now it's a sport.

  • Stop being an idiot, it's not Assotiation of "American Sambo", it's a Sambo Assotiation which placed in America.

  • Dude, you are so fucking stupid it's not even funny.

  • @TheMadWriter1

    Lol.

And why did you say this to ME? I know that "American" means the place where organization be, and not means Sambo nationality. Am I "stupid" because of it? I think not, it's about you.

  • Sambo was developed in Russia, but this is the American Sambo Organization. Kind of like the American Fishing Organization.. it's not claiming fishing was invented in America, just that the organization is American. Idiot.

  • dein vater ist ein idiot ! hurenkind.....

  • Jurok77 is Russian for "dumb as shit"

  • Man i want to learn sambo.

  • Cool vid. But whats the song?

  • Would combat Sambo help in a street fight?

  • i think so, it has throws and hits so it must be useful in a street fight

  • Oh jeez, yes. The russian military/police/security guards and most russian body guards are trained in sambo and they can fuck you up in nothing flat.

  • Ohh thanks.

Do you know anywhere I could learn it? Because not many places in SoCal offer it...

  • I don't, actually. I would type in "Sambo" to google earth or something.

  • probably more so than any other single martial art.

  • pretty much , not only do you learn grapples but in COMBAT sambo you add kicks and PAWNCHES ;>.. and training punches / kicks makes you stronger than the ppl on the street that DOESNT train them :D

  • It was na exhibition, and they were going light.

  • Btw the firsst strike to face, may seem light, but they were wearing gloves, and was aiming for the eyes.

  • What would be cool is to watch Juujutsu VS Combat Sambo, Modern VS Ancient !

  • I really liked the part that the referee raised both athletes' hands!

  • йцкавыпмы

  • anyone know were i can learn sambo in london??? please help, have been looking for ages???

  • SO AM I....I mean I posted this sme question on at least two or three other Sambo vids b4...NO LUCK..

  • ok man i'll give me your e-mail and if i find anyting i'll tell you and you can do likewise

  • i dont think there is any pure sambo classes. i think best thing would be to join an mma gym mate

  • nah i dont wana learn MMA i wana learn sambo

  • man, I wanna learn sambo

  • Neh... Not a combat sambo :)

Also - You can be taught combat sambo, but cant make competitions.

Safety is major factor that differs sports from combat. Combat sambo is used to kill, maim and disable opponent. Sport s in many ways are same as combat s, but lacks moves that often result it serios injury.

So if there were real competition in combat sambo ( or any other COMBAT version of martial art) it would be full of broken bones, gouged eyes, etc.

  • This is a COMBAT SAMBO not SPORTS SAMBO! This reply is for all the noods who thinks this vid is fake

  • @boxx88sambo Please tell me the difference good sir

  • @adam6433 combat sambo=mma with a gi and headgear. sport sambo=grappling only. to oversimplify

  • is this the american version???

    looks stupid to be honest

    real russian sambo is cool

this one is just like mma

real combat sambo is like judo plus jiujitsu plus kick boxing

  • I think these guys just aren't that good. Not saying they suck but their technique seems fairly basic which is why it doesn't look very impressive.

  • btw i'm russian =D and if your coach is a russian man...it would look different as this ;) trust me

  • How old are these Guys?

I would kick em's asses without problems

German Champion in weight class 180 lbs 16 years old =D

The way like they do sambo combat really disgusts me..well i'm doing "normal" sambo... but with this fight elements included..i wouldn't have any problems with them =D

Sambo isn't that easy you need much upper-core-and-lower body conditions and a controlled mind

    Greets KyN

  • I'll kick yuor butt, I'm real russian, not facke copy like you. I'm street fighter, trained in combat sambo (where is no competition). Even Fedor Emel'-nenko (trained sambo, not the combat sambo)

  • SamboSteve: Is there a Sambo School in the Washington DC Area? There is a large Russian population here, and the nearest equivalent I can find is a guy who teaches Judo, but competed in Sambo... Thanks

  • after watching accual russian sambo this kind of sucks. boring

  • What is pathetic is your inability to read apparently. Try reading the thread...It was an exhibition bout.

  • that was slightly pathetic...or was it in slow motion to show the moves? Cause if that was real time, ive been in street fights tougher than that, forget tournaments

  • yea thats what every single person whos never trained thinks when they watch something liek this. "pff look at those guys PICK HIM UP UGGH WHAT IS HE DOING PUNCH HIM UGHHH" meanwhile if you went in with them even these kids would destroy you

  • That's like comparing amateur boxing to pro boxing.

And most street fights suck ass. I bet if you had tape of your deadly street fight you would be amazed at how crappy it looks

  • might as well call it amateur mma

  • american combat sambo????

combat sambo is russian. it´s a russian military combat style.

  • yes it is...but I bet in Russia there is a Russian Karate Federation too...but wait..Karate is japanese...lol

All it means is that there are people in the US who train a russian art....

  • Good response!

  • Hey, he could have gone for the rear naked choke when he was on a mount position on the blue guy's back. If wanted to finish the fight off quick haha.

  • chokes are not allowed in sambo matches

  • They arent?!? I know nothing about Sambo rules. That's odd that they would let all of those dangerous leglocks.

  • I'd love to learn this. Fedor's striking, especialy from in full guard, is brutal. One video here shows it from ground level. It was in Japan. It was so devastating, that the Japanese ringside girl was crying. There is another vid here showing Fedor teaching his striking technique. Awesome. I don't know if it's Sambo or from what school he credits it.

  • Wow...wish we had that here. It's like MMA but with a bit more protection....sign me up please:)

  • not only protection, Gi's are mandatory here, allowing for more real-worldlike grabs

  • What's the name of the song?

  • These guys are from ireland. They are called kopek but, it is not a wide release CD. Try shooting them an e-mail using the e-mail at the end of the video. I do have an address in Ireland if you need it.

  • but effective, unlike your favorite highly-attractive aikido

  • try it on your face

  • What do you want me to say...LOL.

"Oh, yeah...sambo striking suck"...are you kidding me.

All I can say is that you should not base an art based on a few amateur fights you have seen.

  • Well I certainly didn't mean to offend, so maybe I should rephrase my question =)

I watched a couple of Fedor's sambo fights and he always seems to keep his hands down to bait the other guy into reaching/punching (I'm assuming). How come there aren't more knock outs? Is there some kind of technique that makes striking dangerous in Sambo?

Again, I really didn't intend to offend you or anybody here.

  • look at the size of their gloves but more importantly their helmets. that makes knocking out someone not only more difficult but a waste of energy, leaving you more prone to being taken down &/submitted; knock outs & arm locks are a matter of chance but when you're choked there's no arguing that you're done.

  • Maybe I've been watching the wrong stuff, but I feel as though Sambists (is that the right term?) have sloppy striking technique. Most of the fighters i've seen keep their hands down all the time, and throw simple 1-2's.

Steve, am I right, or is there some kind of explanation?

  • If you think combat sambo is bullshit then you must think the same about Fedor.

  • Yes right kinokid !!!!

In the whole world about 5000people can practise combat sambo.

  • this isn't really combat sombo, its sports sombo.

  • I can explain. There is Sport Sambo (a kind of wrestling), and it is absolutely safety. The Combat Sambo is what we've seen on the video. It is a bit more dangerous, and people compete in protection, helmets, etc. But there is another part of Sambo, which doesn't allow any competitions due to geat potential harm. It is so called "Applied" Sambo. The last one is really forbidden for training ecxept special forces like the arme, the police, FSB, etc.

  • vladimir putin is great master of sambo ( russian sport)

  • I probably commented this already, But I REALLY like the song. As I side not: what is the base of the striking portion of this art (boxing, karate, etc)?

  • Hybrid same as MMA I would guess. Baisicallly whatever workd. That's the bueaty of combat sports, there not set system. It may have started with just Karate, or boxing, but as people compete they learn what does and doesn't work for themselves.

  • Its combat sambo...Sport sambo is wihtout punches !!!

  • real combat sambo is a military art. sport sambo is just that. and this is just called combat sambo...even though its sport oriented.

  • The original "sambo" is the original sambo...the military version. In 1938 "sambo" became an official sport and people started calling it "sport" sambo to differentiate it from the original "combat" sambo. Then in 2001, FIAS held the first "combat Sambo" world championships. Which were a sport version of combat sambo like MMA. But in the beginning, everything was just sambo.

  • thanks for the info steve

  • but the confusion could be expected, maybe it should be called sport combat sambo lol...no matter.

    what are the rules?

  • this is sport sambo, combat sambo you cant compete. Plus if this was combat sambo they would be terrible cause thats not how you do it.

  • un video wapisimo, aveis visto como al final s abrazan eso si es un combate!!

  • the guy in the red is really good at throwing

  • Great video

  • Sambo costs loads to get lessons in my area, alas, I am a freestyle fighter. But damn, this stuff is amazing. Great fight!

  • Good ! Respect ! American Sambo !

  • great sportsmanship! is this full contact? i don´t want to insult, but the strikes could be thrown with a little more enthusiasm, whereas the takedowns and groundwork are really delightful to watch! please don´t get me wrong, i think you are great athletes.

    friendly greetings from germany

  • does any1 know if sambo/combat sambo being trained in UK? would be cool if we have something here in london. thanks!

  • what a joke

  • By judo elements, I mean the osoto gari, ouchi gari, seoi nage, etc. (the clinch throws using sleeve and/or collar grips) not the judo striking or ground fighting.

  • Sambo also has judo elements which BJJ doesn't have (this is more useful with a gi or in real life against people with thicker clothing--less so against someone with no-gi and that is sweating).

  • BJJ does teach judo style throws (or atleast should), it just doesn't focus on them nearly a much. Same as Judo teaches all the submission technques of BJJ, but doesn't focus on them nearly as much.

  • If you are talking about combat sambo, there are strikes where as you won't get striking (or any serious striking) component doing BJJ. Of course doing BJJ and Muay Thai could work too (popular combination), but in that case I think one would have to work on transition points (striking to clinching safely, clinching to sriking, clinching to ground, ground and pound to submissions).

  • This makes a lot of sense. I do Vale-tudo, but I miss in my trainig exactly what you mean: transitions.

  • I am unfamiliar with this style of combat (Sambo). I know Fedor is proficient in that discipline so it must be useful and effective. However, I can't help but to feel that it seems to mirror Jiu Jitsu. How does the two differ from one another? To a fighter or an athlete, what are the benefits and the advantages of learning Sambo?

  • Leglocks for one. Sambo practitioners are famous for their leg attacks which were one of the first things other fighters studied to counter the Jiu Jitsu guard.

Also, as you can see, combat sambo training is extremely similar to MMA training.

  • cool

  • sambosteve do you train at Emeryville gym?

  • Nope, I have been there, but I live in NYC. Emeryville is closed now. Why?

  • Wherabouts in NY?

Are you the guy in red (the one kicking ass) in the vid?

  • That's sport sambo not combat sambo. Combat sambo seems to be more oriented toward those crappy self-defence MAs like krav maga... But I like sport sambo.

  • No actually, it is the competative version of combat sambo. "Sport Sambo" typically refers to the traidional sport rules (no striking, no chokes, Total victory, submissions, etc). While combat sambo has been around longer than sport as an art, it has only been since 2000 that FIAS has sanctioned a competative version of CS. BTW, if you think that combat sambo is simply like some traditional self-defense art, you are mistaken.

  • Sorry for my mistake, but a lot of combat sambo schools are actually just self-defence schools a-la krav maga, that don't include competition. I think competition is an important part if not necessary in any decent martial arts.

  • I agree. One nees to feel a resisting opponant. There are many schools that capitalize on the word "combat", but don't really do the style as I know it. Under my coach we would kick the crap out of each other, sparring, competition if one wanted to, etc. I don't really like to use that term to define what we do because it brings up images of kata, pre-arranged defense patterns, etc. For me it brings up the old Jim Carrey skit from "in living color"...LOL

  • I have do agree with you guys, randori (sparring) and competition are essential.

  • sambosteve you are awesome

  • good question...I will do some digging around.

  • does anyone know where I could see some decent Oleg Taktarov highlights?

  • there is instructional videos by him on Ares (p2p program) to be dowloaded. extremely good ones.

  • Thanks!

  • Nice job on the video. I like how it focuses on the highlights. I posted it to InternetSparring.com.

  • Combat Sambo is influenced by fisticuff and various European wrestling techniques.

  • you guys suck balls

  • hmm not really...

  • No, Sambo is a Russian martial art that blends greco roman wrestling, judo and submissions.

  • It was an exhibition. To introduce folks to the sport. Not a full out bout.

  • Looks very half-hearted to me. The throws were okay, but other than that, both fighters seemed to lack commitment to their attacks.

  • Wow thanks Bro.

  • These guys are from ireland. They are called kopek but, it is not a wide release CD. Try shooting them an e-mail using the e-mail at the end of the video. I do have an address in Ireland if you need it.

  • I've tried to look for this song and WTF, I can't seem to get it... Where are these guys from?

  • That was a good clip they were both good fighters.
