  • Fkn Awesome, Cheers for Posting !!!!

  • Guess some bands werent to stuck on themsleves to play in a pub. Thin Lizzy Rocked!

  • I love how high-quality the recording is

  • my gf met his mum 2 months ago. very nice lady.

  • @ballickmoyler Wait what do you mean by GF?

Cause the his throws me off

  • holy shitballs

  • i was so ignorant about thinn lizzy. never knew they had so much different cool shit. wish there was one band like themmowadays

  • @arabus100 There is always Iron Maiden who done a few Lizzy cover versions in their younger days.

  • @arabus100 better late than never eh?

  • I'm Italian and I love Irish people and above all TL

  • Thumbs up if your irish!

  • if this is a pub in ireland I,AM GOING

  • One of the very few bands that I can say I like every song they have written. These guys are so underrated it should be considered a crime. Those of you that got to see them perform live are very lucky.

  • its funny just random thin lizzy songs u never heard are awesome, they just make masterpieces like its nothin lol

  • When they played The Kings Hall in Belfast in 1980, I was one of the priveleged people who got to see them. Oh yes folks,I was there.

  • Not an Irish Pub!

Saturday Stayback (January 1983), recorded at The Dog public house, Bearwood.

  • Apparently there are 35 morons that watched this video. WTF?

  • I photographed THin Lizzy in 1977 when they opened for Queen. To see the shots go to 70srockphotos (.com)

  • done at a birthday party ffen cool

  • this is old. like before cell phones

  • @jizzy2k well done

  • There's something in this performance that just makes me smile. They have such a good time.

  • This was a studio set in England, not a pub in Ireland. Broadcast on a programme called Saturday Stayback.

  • The Ace with the Bass

  • This is what a band should sound like in a bar!!!

  • the nearest thing to this we have now is jedward...depressing!!

  • @JohnnyDevaney I'd say the script is doing us proud.

  • Phil-fiucking-Lynott and Johnny-motherfucking-Sykes! They strode the earth as GODs, this was one of the best rock albums ever made!

  • this IS irish spinal tap.

  • I REALLY WANT A LES PAUL CUSTOM NOW>

  • @YodaVanGrindey95 Fair enough mate, and you will get one in time if you want it bad enough. Don't write off the SG though - I wanted the custom for years, got it eventually and found it heavy as a sack of spuds (Scott Gorhams description - thats why he favours a strat now apparently) and you can't reach the upper frets properly without being Gary Moore (RIP). I'm with Angus when it comes to the SG. Just a thought ;)

  • @wallyjumblatdadsdog Thats not a Gibson SG it's a Yamaha SG 2000 tremendous machine the most underated guitar of all time.

  • @stelvans Not suggesting it was mate, just giving a view on the gibson SG vs les paul.

  • bloke sitting next to Scott Gorham must of got a mouthful of machine head

  • the sound sucks and also syke,s sucks big time gary moore rules R.I.P play on in heaven with powel lynott

  • When interviewed after the show, every bar patron had the same comment....."Huh, what?" That must have been seriously loud!

  • Too bad the audio is bad. Peace.

  • @Brucev7 Man. People these days.

  • @sclapione What do you mean by that?

  • Imagine being at this pub with THIN LIZZY playing in one corner, one pub nite i would NEVER forget,Fucken Unreal!!!Wish i had been there.!

  • wonder the pictures on the walls didn't fall off

  • @vxr8clubby yeah man,i`d say that shivered the timbers of that building...just amazing.

  • Thin Lizzy - Saturday Stayback (January 1983) on youtube for better quality

  • 35 persons are idiot...

  • does anyone think john sykes on the left, looks like a young mustaine?

  • @llamalink Yeah, at first glance, young mustaine and hendrix were playing together. lol

  • Phil's looking pretty rough here. Sad really. :( Still kicks ass!

  • Cold Cold sweat forever Phil !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Where the hell is synth player darren wharton?

  • @warningbrosstudios You can hardly see him, but Darren is there, he's standing behind Scott Gorham.

  • Any more footage from this gig ?

  • fuck yeah !!

  • Holy Crap that would have been sweet to be there!

  • @85Funkadelic Can you imagine...they'd be scraping me up off the floor. Good GOD it would have been awesome beyond words!

  • Anybody have any idea what guitar that is that scott on the right is using ? I think it looks awesome !

  • @LedZepGuitarman ... It's a Yamaha SG2000 series ... I knew a couple of people who owned them .. great playing guitars !

  • @LifesonFan4Life Or maybe its SG1000

  • This is awesome - not heard the song before but already love it :)

  • great to watch the good stuff....i must say...i was lookin' for a single malt behind the bar.....make mine a triple, and another for phil....ohh yea, tell the blond cunt to fuck off...still milkin' the thin lizzy name....john sucks..not sykes....no respect...

  • Love it! Raw rock at its best!

  • Now that's how you have fun in a Pub in Ireland :)

  • @fattirevsbud Now that's how you empty a pub full of people who can't handle a bit of wattage.

  • Gonna see them tonight Gonna be a jailbreak I heard lol

  • Badasssssssssssssss..............

  • Sykes and Gorham were awesome together. Wish they had more albums together. Phil was a genius. From Little Girl in Bloom to ass kickers like this and Thunder & Lightning.

  • WICKED SICK

  • @TonyMarkov "WICKED SICK"

Omg, how old are you ?

  • The pub is The Dog in Bearwood, but is the program Chris Tarrant's Saturday Stayback. i Thought it was from O.T.T the short lived TISWAS for adults knock off (which used to feature Malcolm Hardee's 'balloon dance')?.

  • Damn that looks like Dave Mustaine on guitar. But seriously, John Sykes is a superb player and he alone made Whitesnake into the great band that they became. Gotta say though, the tapping part of this solo sounds like Van Halen's Eruption.

  • @aussieboy77 he alone!!! don`t talk shit!

haven`t you heard of MOODY and MARSDEN??

Sykes is simply awesome but he did not `make` whitesnake.

  • Heavy Metal is definitely not the Phil Lyn music - strange combination

  • @joehohenester FAIL!!! tell that to most heavy metal bands, especially steve harris and iromn maiden bunch...

  • Was this the one filmed for Saturday Stayback?

  • think of it... in the local and Thin Lizzy come in!!!! might be a bit loud for last orders hahaha

  • HA HA HA ,JOHN SYKES = DAVE MUSTAINE'S TWIN BROTHER !!!

GREAT PLAYERS IN THEIR OWN DISTINCT STYLES...

  • Comment removed

  • phil lynott looks like jimmy hendrix

  • Dave Mustaine playing w/ Phil Lynnot !!!

  • @carakenio thats john sykes not fuckin mustaine, lol, yeah he does look similar but metallica were only breaking through when this was performed in 83,not bein nasty or offensive just stating fact dude

  • as soon as i heard the intro i was like "holy shit thats heavy" but i guess the static made it abit more heavier then normal. but who cares Thin Lizzy Fucking Rules

  • let the drinks pour....there will be no in control tonight...got it ladies....

  • I agree totally with lukemanify. This vid reminds me just how good this line up was. Lizzy were fukin magic and John Sykes is a REAL guitar god

  • DAVE MUSTAINE :D

  • This rocks harder than ANYTHING I've ever seem o youtube

  • is this phil`s last gig?

  • Dave Mustaine with thin lizzy he he he !

  • They look like some pirates who invade someones house just to play. That was the shit!!! Didn't kids have more enthusiasm back in those days? Maybe they were all just scared.

  • fuck me thats like thin lizzy playing your local

  • This is really cool!!!!

1 of the best to ever pick up the guitar - G Moore & Eric Bell.

Lizzy is the most underrated band EVER. So ahead of their time and influenced so many bands.

His blues stuff later was really good. G moore

RIP to 1 of the coolest guys on the planet. Sadly, he left like Bon.

  • Takk Gary !

  • I watched all the way through, wondering if the roof was going to collapse from all the sound! Geez!!! Frickin awesome!

  • Anyone that voted this down is a CUNT!

  • We LOVE this song! check out out cover! :)

  • this guitarist may have been the seed for zack wilde, sadly enough

  • love, but that guitar player is hard for me to take, truly

  • When ROCK music was performed by grown MEN not little a bunch of College frat boys with baseball caps, matchstick legs with stamps all over them who take it up the ARSE like a bunch o bitches!

  • @boltonox Well said that man!

  • @TheSlash21 Cheers mate!

  • @boltonox Never a truer word was spoken !!! I was born in Belfast and saw lizzy live - fucking amazing. Pity the stuff around now can't decide to be a "Rockier" (???) version of Gaga or that Bieber twat.

Rock like this will Never die or be forgotten ! God Bless Thin Lizzy.

  • @1mwaring Mate i envy you. I wish i had seen them when they played at the Opera house in Sydney. I rate them one of the top 5 Rock bands in the history of music but because they wernt around that long and because they wernt mainstream well known in America, they've always been SUPER underated. In fact i rate both Thin Lizzy and Blondie as the 2 most underated rock bands ever. I actually got into playing guitar just from the LOOK of the album cover of Thin Lizzy! Hadnt even heard the album yet!

  • @boltonox well they had matchstick legs too but yeah your right man!

  • @franer84 I mean't WEARING baggy shorts on stage and SHOWING off their match stick legs. Skinny legs look cool if your a guitarist or singer wearing skinny jeans or leathers or stove pipes. Not baggy knee length camo shorts! It Creates the "CHICKEN DRUMSTICK" effect.

  • @boltonox Heh Heh. Right on, mate!

  • @boltonox Haha, could not have said it better myself! Amen brother!

  • @GigglinMarley Cheers mate!

  • @boltonox There are still some real bands around

  • @Shamefulbehaviour Yeah sure there is, but are they any GOOD is the real question? Most young bands today are just a weak imatation of a classic Rock bands from the 70's and 80's with people who are only average at best at playing their instrument and only capale of playing very simple pop music. If you know of a GOOD one let me know ok. The only BAND ive seen in the last few years who i think are the real deal is British band, Kasabian. Most bands today are just nerdy dweebs trying to BE cool.

  • @boltonox Well put m8 Best Band the world has ever heard!!!

  • @loz1jim2 Best band in the world ? Which one, Thin Lizzy or Kasabian.

  • @boltonox Lizzy of course

  • @boltonox ! lol

  • @boltonox Fuckin' A!!!

  • Hi, thanks for posting that info, went to see phil's grave R.I.P.The music lives on. Lengend.

  • Hi, does anybody know the pub, was thinking the Baggot Inn, Thin Lizzy Rule.

  • @johnnybyrne100

It was filmed at The Dog Pub in Bearwood near Birmingham. It was on a Chris Tarrent late night programme called saturday night stayback. There used to be a much better copy of this, but was sadly removed for copywrite. ( longer and far better sound)

  • @DILLONDUDETTE

ooh its been re posted , see Thin Lizzy - Saturday Stayback (January 1983)

sounds not as good as originally on, but better than this.

  • @DILLONDUDETTE Hey man nice one

  • iwouldsolovedtohavebeenthereandseenthatliveisomissphil

  • Heavy shit brought heavy to the heavy.

  • AWWW MAN.......LETHAL!!!!

  • Fucking classic! I remember watching this on the TV (live) all those years ago and was blown away. From what I remember, Frank Carsen (an Irish comdedian) introduced the band and purposely fucked up the name; hence Lynott pissing himself laughing at the very beginning :)

  • @bufon63

yep your right, that used to be on here., ending with a sketch fron john carolgees, ( spit the dog)

  • @DILLONDUDETTE Ha! Showing our age :) Great stuff....... :)

  • Thin Lizzy - i program trzeci Polskiego radia (Trójka) - jest to samo!!!

  • I always thought Sykes' heavy metal guitar wasn't right for Lizzy - this band was all about contrasts and subtleties whereas this is (admittedly good) NWOBHM inspired.

  • the best band of the world

  • @48collie, I think it was in whealan's, The tapping made my life complete......

  • I love this performance! The guitars are so damn crunchy!

  • Waaay too loud for this tiny pub. Awesome performance, though.

  • Thats classic!! I was at the Thunder and Lightning farewell gig in Dubln same year. Does anyone know what pub the video was in?

  • Wonder how many drinks Phil consumed that night. Lynott is ROCK!

  • @manguy2000 i meant to vote down the comment above yours and accidentally clicked yours hahahaha. but yes, Lynott is indeed Rock in its entirety, I agree 100%

  • Yeah, this is super sonic vibe deluxe. This is rock and roll, anybody seen any sign of it? What ever happened to my rock and roll?

  • Check out our cover from our new EP! Video is up on our Youtube - AGGRESSOR.

  • This makes my hairy nutsack explode

  • bleed y'all. The best clip ever from a pub corner. Check out Pat Travers playing Hoochie Koo in a similar situation.

  • is that dave mustain?

  • SOMEONE DUB THE STUDIO TRACK ONTO THIS HORRIBLE AUDIO...

  • mann the singer is so sly!

  • DRRRROOOOOOOLLLLLLLEEEEEE at that solo!

  • Freaking amazing solo!

  • I's funny that Zakk Wylde never mentions John Sykes as an influence, saying that he got the artificial harmonics thing from aham, ZZ Top. Like they say "the key to being original is hiding your sources".

  • @BDarOZ I was thinking the exact same thing! you would think he would mention sykes, they sound so similar. I was like "where have i heard that scale before?....oh yeah zakk wylde".

  • Its mad how there in some mad wee pub lol

  • Thin Lizzy influenced everyone from VH to Priest to Maiden to even COC. RIP PL

  • I love this video clip (apart from the sound quality) . Think the band were just miming though as none of the guitars are plugged in..........Sykes added a new lease of life to Lizzy when he joined, although it was a bit too metal for some people's tatses.

  • Do you people understand what a guitar god that John Sykes is? This is one of the best guitar solos and best guitar work I have ever seen from a then youthful guitar player in 83'. God rest the soul of Phil Lynott.

  • Jesus, after playing shows like Sydney with tens of thousands of people; an intimate little gig like this must have felt below their stature!

  • @EpiphoneSunburst2 ITS 1983!!!!!

  • Sykes heavy metal shredding does not make this song. Thin Lizzy was never about spitting out mindless notes. They were hard rocking, but played music. That being said, this is not a bad song. And Sykes rejuvenated the band.

  • Whose living room are they playing...:)

  • I love the solo. It creates a break in the song, especially the tapping part. Then it builds back up with the whole band again. The dynamics are superb. This line-up of Thin Lizzy is the best imho and John Sykes is the greatest guitarist ever (again my opinion!).

  • what a f##king waste.......Lynott is sorely missed. Stay away from HEROIN kids it f##king sucks.

  • I Think if Phil never passed music history would have to be COMPLETLY rewritten!

  • THIN LIZZY RULES!!!!!

  • This is unreal.

  • This had to be loud as shit!!...Wish I was there!!!....There is nobody like Phillip out there...RIP BLACK ROSE!!!!!!.....MUSIC MISSES YOU!!!

  • This is SO LOUD! The rhythm guitars could melt your face off!

  • Thin Lizzy very good

  • From a programme called nighthawks, i think, im open to correction, but,It literally made my eyes well up,,Phil must have been the coolest guy you could know!! R.I.P. Phil.

  • WOW.. Shit quality :(

Where's the good one? Maybe with this Irish TV?

  • google ' dizzyfans+pub' ....''The Dog' on the Hagley Road, Bearwood is not your biggest pub"...

  • Wow ! young Sykes !!! so cool clip !!!

    5-stars .+:。(*^-゜)vvvvv

  • I think it's great that a band that big just turns up and does a pub gig. Awesome. Miss those guys. RIP Phil

  • brillant stuff

  • forget the shit of today, thats rock. thank yyou, publicanimal

  • cool

  • aw fuck they should've released another album with sykes AND THEY COULD'VE considering how many unreleased tracks phil lynott had done fucking pissed me off lol. Love thunder and lightning such a perfect metal album. It's amazing how they started out on psychadelic rock to heavy metal.

  • cold sweat,maybe tomorrow!

  • Sykes looks so much like dave mustain in this video

  • @dardedacdi45 wow...this is even heavier than SPINAL TAP.!!!
