it's strange but it didn't scare me at all. I don't know if I can call it a horror movie... I think it's more like a psychological thriller than a horror. The atmosphere on the ship was not gloomy enough to scare me. There are some gory scenes but they seemed a bit exaggerated. The story is interesting though.
Ladies and Gentlemen, THIS is the hell-spawned CHAOS! When I first seen the ad of the Event Horizon /in my country, Hungary they renamed it as "Ship of Death"/ I was shocked. At that time I've been in the world of WarHammer 40.000 and I thought the British have made a movie based on some Ian Watson scriptur. But no, that was 'only' a horror-science-fiction, the BEST since the '80-s! If you want to enjoy such experience: "READ UNTIL YOU BLEED!" - as the BlackLibrary publishing slogan says
hahah the first time i watched this was in broad daylight, curtains pulled back, every lamp in the room was on and it still mind fucked me as if i was watching it late at night.
A great film, but bits of it made me want to throw up. I slept with the bed clothes over my head after watching it the first time, I was 22 years old. Embarrassing but true.
This movie fucked me up when I was a kid. It's not the horror alone but the psychological element. The idea of an interstellar spacecraft not only leaving our universe; but apparently hellbound and returning alive... creeeeeeeeeepy!
@JasonBrazen Me too. Watching the movie today, it's really not THAT bad, but I don't think most audiences were expecting the high-adrenaline combination of Lovecraft and Clive Barker that the movie serves up. It's psychologically violent and remorseless in a way that catches people completely off guard. Horror movies are often woefully predictable, but no one could have predicted what they'd see when they sat down to watch this.
You see, kids? This is why you don't attempt to travel through the Warp without a Gellar field installed on your ship and an Astronomicon to show you the way.
Event Horizon is one of those movies that scared me so much i couldnt sleep. Thats when you know the movie was bomb! Its realistic take on futuristic events is even more outstanding. Best Space Movie ever!!!
@PinguinProduktion Thanks a lot. Glad you like it. I think you have inspired me to use words from the film. That was fun! Think I'll do more of that :)
