ooooooo shiiiiitttttt dem bois sounded good...i aint gonna lie i been out of hs for a minute..but im still jealous cuz NO always had the best showbands..hands down
Southwest wouldn't let Columbia or Cedar Grove come and blow out there band room like that while they rock back and forth....band is war!!! ...just keepin it real!!
@superShaup ain't no hatin son u are a clown if u ever thought cohen was elite bruh then u say ask carver what cohen did to them homie .that's some insane shit u speaking homie .u mustin been junk on ya horn or whatever u played or went to a junk ass school
@SuperShaunp SMH WALKER BAND DIRECTOR WAS AT CARVER PRE KATRINA HAS BEEN AT WALKER POST KATRINA WHEN THEY OPENED THE SCHOOLS BACK UP THATS WY PPL ALWAYS NOT KNOWINGLY COMPARE WALKER POST KATRINA TO CARVER PRE KATRINA NOT THEY FAULT THEY DONT KNO
Finally who cares if white people take our bands seriously? Should we take them seriously is more appropiate considering Black people especially from the south are responsible for all of the major music genre's in the world today. All of the music originates from blues, and blues was created by the 2nd generation of freed slaves in the South.
Since they choose to participate, and imitate our music, than their approval is not at all required!
@jerelellegood you have nothing to say about these kids. thier band sounds better than morgan state. its a different style, that swings and gets you moving.
If you think they're playing loud, you haven't seen New New Orleans bands before 2005 huh?lol. Now that's true power, but props to walker they trying to get back to pre-katrina status.
Also there's a difference between playing loud, and playing powerful.
no one does it like kennedy in 2000 and 2001.. well reed shut it down in 2001 and im not lieng i got all the footage... ask fortier what happen to them in 2001 at pan am lol got hurt..... walker sound good though
it seems like their band director only cares about them hitting the right notes (which they did) their overall sound is good. I guess I have gotten use to hearing them (and other bands) blow extra hard for that noisy effect. at first I didn't understand why some directors allowed that but since they are young they make an exception. NONE of my band directors ever allowed that noise, we had to play right !!
This is the problem with the south. Everybody wants to just play loud as hell. Dumb mofos actually think that it sounds good...wtf?? Why do you think white ppl dont take this crap serious half the time. You guys got numbers, if your director would work to make u guys musical rather than JUST loud and nasty, yall could be a band. I marched with morgan state in baltimore...our director made us musical first, loud second...
@jerelellegood Being from Louisiana, I have to totally disagree with this comment. Calling mofos in the south dumb, gtfoh, If you knew anything about the history and especially the history of music down in these parts you would understand why the style is aggressive. Music is not conformed to one particular group, sound, or style, I figured you would know that being you actually marched in a band smh...
@SUFUNKFACTORYZPHIZ aggressive is what they call it? There are some down south bands i love, sir...like southern- no they aren't the cleanest but they don't sound entirely obnoxious, there is much musicality to be had with their style. you can't make believe that more than maybe 15% of these kids care about anything other than being loud and 'crankin'.
@jerelellegood Collegiate level musician, at an HBCU, on here dissing young black children. And, you have the nerve to speak like Morgan State is even regarded an "above average" program... Soundin' like Uncle Ruckus: "Boss man dun' takes us seriuz!!!! Play mo' bettuhz, an' den dey likez us mo'!" Do some research of the different genres of music, and regional music, and you will see EXACTLY why bands and musicians from down south play they way they do.
@a7u0g6boi i'm dissin young black children? If band directors in the south cared about anything other than having a loud marching band maybe i wouldn't be on here 'dissing'. it's not about genres of music or regional music. it's about being presentable. THIS IS NOT PRESENTABLE. playing loud is not all it's about. You can have a nice tone AND play loud. maybe if black band directors down there would try to have half-decent concert bands your marching bands wouldn't sound so bad. are you done???
@jerelellegood ATTENTION EVERYONE! Jarelle is now the marching band ambassador, and Morgan State is apparently the measuring stick of greatness. Bruh, cast not stones..... Morgan State is less entertaining than this clip. And ya'll are collegiate. These kids are PASSIONATE about music. Let them be. These kids are the future of our HBCU's, and I am SURE there will be some great musicians from this school. Trust me.... Make CONSTRUCTIVE criticisms and build them up!
@jerelellegood I guess since Wycliffe Gordon has a harsh, loud tone that he is NOT one of the GREATEST trombone players to ever play. SMH.... Sellout.
@a7u0g6boi I'm a sellout? No, the black high school and collegiate band directors in the south who allow their concert bands to sound like trash and focus all their efforts on marching band- they are the sellouts. Let's not get academic, because I will shut you down lol
@jerelellegood i'm white, marched@aPWC,there were loads of "white ppl" who didn't take showstyle bands serious.Took some toSWD, othersBCU(convenient, they both came within an hour's drive).opinions changed.A bias opinion will be just that until you witness personally.
@tdoggobl You've assumed I haven't witnessed it personally. I marched in a showstyle band. There are showstyle bands that play loud and don't sound like ASS like famu or bcu. But when you have band directors/adults who allow this type of crap....ugh....it's sad that we're even arguing about this...i could write a book...smdh
@jerelellegood you went to Morgan State, who isn't exactly top of the line in musicality, much less intensity. Say what you want, but there aren't a whole lot of missed notes. On top of that, OPW has a good symphonic program and all of those kids learn theory. How can you judge an entire program off a youtube clip? go practice
