  • good story

  • This was such an awesome vid! Thanks for sharing this. It reminded me of some similar experiences that I've had, and the random people that helped me through those experiences. Peace

  • @Robobubbacunta I'm glad you liked the video.

    :)

  • @theticketybooboo yeah I agree that ironing is pretty hard. I've found I do better using a wide table as opposed to an ironing board.

  • @NubianTribesman

Same. I had to use an iron board in basement studio I lived in too. It was difficult.

A wide table and/or counter works out fine for me in regards to ironing clothes

  • Thats really cool he helped you out and gave you all that advice. To be honest I've never had anyone sit me down and explain that kind of stuff to me. Thanks for telling this story, I'm gonna spread it around.

  • @iremythpurr I learned some of other domestic skills the hard way, through trial and error, or more accurately trial and disaster / embarrassment. I'm just glad this situation didn't turn out like that.

  • A windowless room with no heat. Wow, that sounds all too familiar in my case. I had a very similiar experience just 2 yrs ago when I moved into my 1st basement studio. Only difference, it was fairly large like a railroad apartment with a refrigerator, bathroom, walk-in closet and a tiny window. I had no sun light. So, it was often very dark and cold down there. The building had heaters but the landlord was a cheap bitch. Even when the heat was supposedly on, I still felt cold but because I have>

a great older friend who provided me with extra blankets and food at a time when I needed it the most, it all worked out pretty well until I moved out of that hellhole into a much better living situation.

I remember the 1st time I went shopping for myself too. Very different from when I went to the grocery for my mom and/or grandmother. It feels liberating. I wasn't confused though but I didn't really know how to cook much. My friend taught me. So, I was thankful 4 that

The rent was high too, considering the job I had back then which really didn't pay that much especially for the level of admin work I was doing, smh. Anyway, it was a strain and I struggled with saving, rent and keeping a decent amount of food in my apartment. Had it not been for my friend teaching me how to cook and prepare foods, it would've been a much worse experience.

Its not too often that we run into people like the brother who assisted you at the supermarket, so I >

would have really been shocked but appreciated his help too if I were in the same situation.

Yup, New York is ridiculously high in rent unless you live in public housing and/or receiving some kind of governement assistance to help pay for it. Even then, it can still be high depending upon one's expenses(ie school, food, laundry, phone bills, internet, traveling, etc) and/or family size. Thats why I'm looking to leave NY now.

    Thanks for sharing TribesMan

    Much Love

  • @SkidRowRadio "Domestic guardian angel" that could have been a good title for this video.
