HTC Desire: Downloading & using Google Navigation

Hi,I've downloaded 'United States-West' map onto my HTC Desire S,i can see it in the 'Locations' app but can't open it,when i click on it,it just gives me the option to delete it!!.....any ideas folks????...cheers

how accurate is the GPS when using Google Maps?

when i use my Nokia E71...google maps shows where i am within a whopping "100m radius"

hey guys help mi i did the same thing but when after i key and enter the place name it only show me  "show on map" and direction i did not see the world navigation... HELP do i need to install anything else? i just buy this phone...

@smidge146 Sadly no, using your GPS will use part of your data allowance so make sure you have a good data plan on your account :)

Without an Internet connection the GPS doesn't working. All you get is searching and searching... Isnt't It? this is all what I get myself.

@emmajd1 I'd wait a month or so, and get the HTC Desire HD. It's the new HTC out next month. Out of the two you said? Desire by a LONG shot. It is better than the iPhone 4 too.

@emmajd1 iphone 3gs because iphone has the appstore i myself am an iphone 4 owner but the 3gs is as powerful as they both have the apple a4 chip but because we have appstore we can do a hell load of things including controlling your pc, controlling your house lights, starting your car and lots of other ways to amaze yourself

@djmilo2 the 3gs doesn't use the a4 chip, it was first used in the ipad which was released after the 3gs .also the 3gs only runs at 600mhz where as the iphone 4 runs at 1ghz ,,,... jus sayin

Once that's downloaded you need to turn the phone off and then turn it back on.... No you don't the guy doesn't even turn the phone off and back on to use the really bad voice navigation. I laugh everytime it says the street names around here as most of the time it calls something completely different.

That voice is really unclear. Sorry Google, this is no way as good as TomTom/CoPilot/Garmin etc. with proper 3D turn-by-turn.

When he's installing it, it says installing to SD card but I thought with android 2.1 which is what the desire comes with, you can't install things to the SD card. Does that mean they are running 2.2?

@Greenman109 depends on your data usage plan. If you got unlimited, your safe... otherwise, don't use so much as you end up with a huge bill.
