  • "Annie, OH! You mean Andrea McArdle??!!"

  • Knowing the backstory - plucked from chorus during previews - makes this extra cool. The song is sadly used as an running gag about kid performances, but it really is a great song.

  • That voice and that confidence. Chills are mine. Jeers whatever! She owns Annie!

  • I'm 51 and I remember seeing her on the old Mike Douglas talk show. She did a kick-ass rendition of Billy Joel's "New York State of Mind". I'd love to see that again...anybody?

  • I FOUND IT YES!!!

  • srsly what went wrong when they made the annie movies, why couldnt they have used her?! the one in the 80's that girl spoke her songs, it was just badddd! i didnt like in the 90s version she is the singer in the broadway play annie goes and sees!

  • My little sister is playing Annie, boy has she got the attitude for it!

  • she's the only one that makes it musical even on the spoken parts

  • I've seen Andrea Mcardle in person!!! She played Ms. Hannigan in Annie.

  • i like her more than amanda

  • what a voice!!!!!

  • ...and they're letting the Smith family fuck around with this?!?!?!?

    =\

  • @n1ck3l51 Oh dear...what's happening?

  • @DefyGravity464 they're remaking Annie with Willow Smith as Annie...tell me that's not fucked up

  • @n1ck3l51 Good gravy, here we go...

  • @n1ck3l51 that's what comes from having a parent with influence, power - and a huge bank balance :(

  • yeah, an awesome singer.

She seems like a pretty cool person too. Got work with as an asstant stage manager for a one night singing thing she did in oklahoma in 2010.

I hear she recently played the role of Miss Hannagin up in New England. (-:

  • I cannot listen to the "Annies" on broadway now/recently. They sound like toddlers compared to this. She sounds like a half grown woman, she's TOUGH and BIG AND LOUD like Annie should be.

  • @PaleBlueDays That's exactly how I feel too. I love her version the best.

  • The best Annie ever!

  • A thousand more girls may play this part in the future but Andrea Mcardle will always be the one, and only ... Annie !!!

  • she is so prety and an amazing singer!

  • anyone else get goosebumps.?

  • A true gift from God.

  • Some songs just seem to belong to certain performers. Like Jennifer Holliday belongs to "And I Am Telling You...", this song belongs to Andrea McArdle!

  • @alphamommy89 AMEN TO THAT!

  • totally agree

  • Most definitely one of the best female voices I have ever heard. She was great in "Annie", but I loved her the most in the movie "Rainbow". Her rendition of "Stormy Weather", "Somewhere Over The Rainbow", & "I'm Always Chasing Rainbows" will forever be one of the best performances ever!

  • the best Annie for me is Alieen Quinn,( she was in the 1982 movie version along with Carol Burnette) To me she was the best Annie!

  • @maleficentdiva That's why she won a Razzie. *eyeroll*

  • What an amazing performance. You inspire all of us to be the best Annie we can. Please watch my video singing Tomorrow and let me know what you think . It would mean the world to me =)

  • u can never beat the original

  • Wow

  • I saw her playing Miss Hanagan, At NC Theater and at the end she sang this song with the new annie (who by the way blew me away)

  • This is the best Annie!!

  • Ohmygosh. I think everyone agrees. She's just flat out awesome. No one can compare to her. Best Annie.

  • oh 1977

  • what year is this ?

  • what fantastic talent! She's amazing!

  • Andrea Mcardle is the most original voice for Annie. I listen to the other Annie's and no one come close to Andrea. She is the best and she's the original Annie. She sings beautiful. You can really feel her voice.

  • @Carlos7486 Most definitely!! Just saw the Morning Show talking about this. Andrea and this song are married and no one has ever or will ever come close to duplicating it. Never got to see the original play cause we couldnt afford it, but this song will be with me forever.

  • All the other girls who have played Annie seem to imitate Andrea's voice. It was and is so unique.

  • Watching the movie today with my daughter. It's very good, but I grew up listening to Andrea and she will always be my Annie!

  • Andrea is and was thoe only Annie!! She's the best

  • THE BEST ANNIE!!!!!!!

  • What a natural! A pleasure to listen to each and every time I think of this play.

  • This girl makes the others who played Annie sound like crap.

  • Sheer heaven!

  • There is no comparison to Andrea as Annie.

  • For me Andrea was the best Annie!

  • Something about her look, and her movement on stage, and singing, is incredible. It gives you chills.

  • her and joana are the best hands down

  • she's really incredible. look at that girl go! listen to that voice!

  • rly cute voice!!

  • Chords. 'Nuff said.

  • How can anyone think that Aileen is the best Annie after hearing this??

I know everyone has their own opinion but this just sends me chills!

Aileen's was okay but I like Andrea's much better and she's the original Annie which is a bonus :P

To be honest I didn't really like Aileen. Her voice was really annoying.

I wished that Andrea would have played Annie in the movie but I assume she was too old.

  • Shitty camera, yet she sound great.

  • The same Andrea Mcardle that played the broadway singer in the 1999 Disney television adaptation?

  • @celine2010 yep!!!

  • @celine2010 Yep! They had her make that cameo because she was the original Annie!

  • Danielle Brisbois, is by far ugly, overrated and completely untalented!!!! Sorry, but that's a fact!

  • @TheRockfan68 you're ignorant!

  • @TheRockfan68

Why would you say something like that about a kid?

    your a mean person.

She is a really nice persone. I have met her.

    You an jerk.

  • How strange -- Danielle Brisboise was always my favorite, too. I had a little girl crush on her when I was about 10 or so, the year the show came out :)

  • Original and still the best Annie! Love this song! Anyone heard Tiffany Evans sing this? Check it out she puts a different spin on it.

  • saw her do this on broadway in original cast--was magic

  • I believe that! She's great and terribly underrated! A Shame!

  • Andrea McArdle As Annie (1977)

    I Love Broadway.

    I Love When She Sings.

Tomorrow Is The Greatest Song In Broadway & Movie.

  • Best version I've heard!

  • No one will ever top Andrea in the role as annie

  • Somewhere in that group..is a little lady by the name of

Ms.Danielle Brisbois. I wonder whatever happened to her?!(LOL!)

  • Danielle went on to the show All in the Family, and then, believe or not, the band The New Radicals!

  • my grandparents got to see this opening night at the goodspeed, wish i could've been there but i was born a few yrs too late, i don't think it was andrea mcardle as annie when it first opened?

  • @twigggie there was one before her, but she never made it to broadway

  • She has a voice like a midget. But very effective and appealing for the role. I wonder how many times she sang that song.

  • after many, many years, still the best version of this song I've ever heard.

  • This video inspires me and I am not being sarcastic at all...Andrea McArdle herself, the character of Annie, the lyrics...I love them all so incredibly much!

  • I think young girl singers have it easier when it comes to their voices. Boys have their voices breaking they have to deal with, and they often lose their 'wow' factor. Andrea was just as amazing the older she got.

  • Wish I was born at that time to see it...

  • me too...

  • i love all your videos

  • i love all your vidos i watch them every day

  • I love Andrea. She was the best annie ever!

  • I can only hope that I will be half as good as her when I'm her age. Currently, I can't belt to save my life.

  • flawless.

  • Almost.......can't forgive the mullet.

  • that's not a mullet. that's just a mid-70s girlie feathered hairdo. Not a mullet.

  • Amazing!

  • there's a MUCH better/clearer quality version of this exact clip if you go up to the web address of this clip in your browser and replace everything after the = with j7GOxzzUGpo or do a quick search for Tony Awards : Annie " Tomorrow " (HQ).

Both the picture and the audio are great quality, especially compared to this one.

  • She looks like Mike TV from the original Willy Wonka.

  • Wow ! that was a good connection !

  • omigosh u r so right!! i knew she reminded me of somebody!! lol

  • Best Annie of all time .. other annies cant tie Andrea's shoes.

  • what year was this

  • 1977

  • she is truely the person i think of when i think of annie sorry alicia morton or the alieen quiin

  • hahahahah :')

  • She came to my production of Annie on May 3rd. She was sooo nice!!! she even said that we were the best production of Annie she had ever seen! i cried when i heard her say that. She also signed my Annie t-shirt =]

  • Yep, I was there :] She was really nice, wasn't she!!? And I was so surprised she really came. I got her signature too, Brianna :]

  • Shes the best annie!!!

  • The standard against which all are judged. She ROCKS.

  • incredible! thats so exciting to watch!

  • Wow! Incredible voice for her age.

  • it doesnt matter if she's tomboyish, she ha an amazing voice, and she's adorable

  • Andrea McArdle will be Annie forever, maybe not coming down the stairs in a red dress kind of Annie, but she'll always be Annie to me. :)

  • No one can touch her in the role of Annie!

  • Wow. she's got an amazing voice, and amazing vibrato for such a young girl, but honostly, I think she looks a lot like a boy, and kinda sounds like one, too.

  • Seeing as the play is about Orphan Annie, a very tomboyish character, I think she suits the role well.

  • my best friends mom was in that and she said andrea was a real brat but with a voice like that she kind of intitled to a bad attitude. everyone was exceptionally talented in Annie.

  • oh really? I've talked to several people from the cast of the original production and to a person they said she was a joy to work with, just a regular kid who liked pinball and skateboarding, would walk on stage and turn on the juice. no mention of her being a brat. but she was outspoken and a little tomboy so maybe that was misinterpreted as "brat".

  • describe "real brat". I heard she liked to play pranks on her costars and wasn't the "sweet" type of girl but that's one of things that made her so right for the role.

  • Irish people are feisty.

  • amazing

  • Omg For such a young girl she has a really powerful face :)

  • Andrea McArdle was and is a very special talent.

  • Why are some people SO talented? It's not fair hahaha

  • I have only a couple moments of memory from my dad taking me and my sister to see this play back in probably around 79-80 on Broadway....but her voice is instantly recognizable to me. Watching this is like a crazy throwback to 30 years ago. Looking back, she's damn good for a girl in her teens....or any age for that matter.

  • she was really, really good.

  • Wow!

  • the thing about her moving her head while she sings: little Andrea is acting for the stage, not the camera. On stage, in a big musical, you play to last row of the theater, which means mannerisms that might look exaggerated or too big if a camera zooms in close. She knows what she is doing and she is a true professional of the stage.

  • yeah and its super hard to belt like that and not move your head haha

  • omg pause her at 0:27 her face truly takes on the look of a cartoon character. then of course there is that incredible sound coming out of her mouth.

  • with her cute little button nose and her beautiful eyes Andrea almost kind of LOOKED like she was drawn in a cartoon, do you know what I mean? Perfect casting for the orphan who started out in a comic strip. And then of course there is that truly amazing voice of hers. I think people throw around the word "amazing" too much, but THIS girl was (and still is) amazing.

  • How Rude!

  • Best Annie I have ever heard.

  • I agree! I got to take a class from her yesterday, and she was awesome.

  • Comment removed

  • what I would give to go back in a time machine and see this show with this cast. Andrea is stunning, I can't get over her powerful voice with it's unique charm. And look at her eyes just as she's finishing up the last few belts, amazing eyes, very pretty girl (even though she was supposed to be sort of tomboyish and tough).

  • Same here

  • she wasnt the original the one they pickrd before her they cut 3 adys before it opened to broadway.

  • You need to get your facts strait, Kristin Vigard played Annie up until the Connecticut previews at the Goodspeed Opera House. Then Andrea replaced her, not three days before opening.

  • on an annie site it said like 3 or 4 days before the broadway debute she replaced her.

  • really? oh that probably was really sad 4 her

  • The best Annie there ever was, or ever will be

  • you can bet your bottom dollar

  • this girl is kinda crazy awesome. andrea mcardle=legend. her voice became even more beautiful as she grew up, and still shines.

  • that was pretty good

  • 1:16 officially made her own this song.

    AWESOME BELT.

  • hmm, I would have placed it more around 0:56

    : )

  • As a kid in NJ I was consumed with jealousy towards Andrea McCardle and all the girls in Annie. I begged my dad to take me for an audition--just to be one of the orphans (ok, I knew I couldn't reach those high notes on Tomorrow). I didn't realize then that my lack of talent would be a liability.

  • I was never jealous of her, but I always wanted to be in annie and I was now I am to old lol.

  • shes got a good voice

  • Andrea McArdle is my idol. I absolutely love her. My school is doing Annie this year and it's refreshing to seE the original annie! and 1 tht isnt so annoying like all the other annies. GO ANDREA!!!!!

  • the most impressive thing about this is the level of control that she has over her belt.

  • omg, that is the best way to say it

  • great memories growing up in NYC

  • wow, this video's like a lost treasure. kudos for posting it. she's the real deal

  • she is something special!

  • makes me cry every time i hear her sing this...shes the BEST annie

  • Andrea does this part better than anyone else I've ever heard. Her hair is very 70's =)

  • Nice hairdo and a BIG voice!

  • doesn't get better than this

  • tomarrow is a great song sung by a wonderful

    singer shes the best tom

  • Cette petite fille est extraordinaire!

  • is this a performance on stage or some sort of TV appearance?

  • this was at the tonys.

its on the "broadways lost treasures"

  • wow- imagine having that powerful of a voice at such a young age... incredible

and I agree with theatresofty!! haha :)

  • Andrea McArdle is the best Annie ever.

    She truly IS Annie!

  • she flips her hair a lot! lol

  • i love this musical! and in my opinion, there has been no better annie than andrea :)

  • YES i have been looking for this clip forever! thank you!

  • the best annie ever so many of them say the words not sing them

  • I LOVE ANNIE! Andrea McArdle is my alltime favorite Annie. You, musical2006, have fantastic

    taste.

  • wow!! that was really good. she stays on key and really she was just perfect for the part!

  • how old is sche

  • was she the very first annie?

  • yes sche whes the first annie from broaway

  • yes she was the first and she was amazing!!!

  • others may be good but she was the best.....what a voice!

  • Hu er bare den søteste ! ;)

She is just the cutest thing ! :)

  • Andrea is Annie. Many others are good but she captures the spirit and nails the song. As the older Andrea, she's still got it and very impressive. I am so happy to see her working the business in a most ethical way. Way to go Andrea!

  • Do you like Amy Diamond performing "Tommorow?

  • nah

  • my dad noes her. shes rly nice

  • amazing and she doesnt sing too high

  • She's wicked Inspirational. Shes probably one of the few Child stars that still have talent as an adult.

  • My friend told me 2day that i looked ALOT like Andrea McArdle

  • Jeez. That was amazing!!

She IS Annie. No doubt about it.
