If you want to race a real import, race the Boost Logic, or Titan Supra, stop this video posting like this. These are fully built up DRAG cars, built for straight lines, up against imports with small work done, race a built import, and make it even. And none of these imports are exactly slow seeing how the civics have about 150whp stock and run in the 17's, they somehow gain more respect seeing how they drop them 5 seconds at the 1/4, so give them respect.

If you build it right you can get a civic hatch to run 9's with no more than 500whp, my buddy had one running 12's all motor with only around 260whp, it WILL not take 600 more hp to that 260 to run 3 seconds faster. and I only seen a couple REAL imports on here, and the supra had a bad launch, and a supra built right will toast any of these cars, and your fat body muscle cars only run fast in a straight line, run a circuit track against a built STI then come talk.

You can snag a 1992 240sx and swap the motor with a VK56VD which is a JAPANESE v8 producing 420 flywheel HP, and mod that... easily getting into the 9's and with style, you can build an import for cheaper believe me, your average 400hp civic hatch with good tune will run low to mid 10s and depending on the driver CAN run in 9's.
@RadOne83 you are so wrong, that red camaro that ran a mid 10, he had at least 600 hp, the honda was left at the line but was catching up at the end, that means he had more top end horsepower then the camaro, so that honda had probably 700 or so and ran a low 11 because a 4cyl has no torque, so it can not have a good launch like a muscle car, imports need more power to run faster then a muscle car, i seen a mitsubishi lancer w/ 1100 hp run a 8.90 muscle car with that power, 8.50 or faster.

There's a huge trend here with most of these documented races: Imports have strong starts, but crap out towards the end. You know why? Because 4 cylinders simply cannot handle enough torque and power in the high end speeds as well as 8 cylinders. This is SCIENCE guys. A gallon will always house more fluids than an 8oz bottle. JDM or Domestic, any car brand can start developing awesome V8's, but it needs to be a decent platform vehicle, not some shitty 4 cylinder.

But I don't think this was a good video to show muscle vs import cuz there no sti's,evos,srt4,and that supra was slow cuz bossted supras run 11 and 10s all day. If you want to race a real import, race the Boost Logic, or Titan Supra, stop this video posting like this. These are fully built up DRAG cars, built for straight lines, up against imports with small work done, race a built import, and make it even. And none of these imports are exactly slow seeing how the civics have about 150whp stock and run in the 17's, they somehow gain more respect seeing how they drop them 5 seconds at the 1/4, so give them respect.

If you build it right you can get a civic hatch to run 9's with no more than 500whp, my buddy had one running 12's all motor with only around 260whp, it WILL not take 600 more hp to that 260 to run 3 seconds faster. and I only seen a couple REAL imports on here, and the supra had a bad launch, and a supra built right will toast any of these cars, and your fat body muscle cars only run fast in a straight line, run a circuit track against a built STI then come talk.

You can snag a 1992 240sx and swap the motor with a VK56VD which is a JAPANESE v8 producing 420 flywheel HP, and mod that... easily getting into the 9's and with style, you can build an import for cheaper believe me, your average 400hp civic hatch with good tune will run low to mid 10s and depending on the driver CAN run in 9's.

@RadOne83 you are so wrong, that red camaro that ran a mid 10, he had at least 600 hp, the honda was left at the line but was catching up at the end, that means he had more top end horsepower then the camaro, so that honda had probably 700 or so and ran a low 11 because a 4cyl has no torque, so it can not have a good launch like a muscle car, imports need more power to run faster then a muscle car, i seen a mitsubishi lancer w/ 1100 hp run a 8.90 muscle car with that power, 8.50 or faster.

@memphiskicksass I can almost bet it wasnt 425 hp, A PLymouth GTX runs a 13.7 stock, with 390hp, yours was 425hp (35hp more) and you dropped 1.7 seconds? ok maybe you had tires and auto but anyways, a GTX weighs around 3500lbs, a civic hatch weighs around 2200lbs, both cars full weight, now 425hp in 2200lbs WILL run faster than 425hp in 3500lbs, now I bet the civic guy IS lying about his hp, or maybe he has a HUGE boost leak?... not saying your car aint fast but its power to weight ratio.

Most civic tuners almost always got launch control... theres the traction issue, and if it was flywheel hp your average RWD car looses more hp transferring to the wheels, the only thing that would givef the muscle car an advantage is torque, hondas make shit for torque.

Also like I said get REAL imports like NSX's, and built Supras. A Supras STOCK internals can withstand up to 800HP with no stress.
Civic: K20, forged internals, turbo kit, tune, mid range boost= 400HP= Low 10's
Supra: 2JZ, forged internals, t70 single turbo, high boost, tune= 700+ HP= 9's

@RadOne83 yea maybe in the 1/8 mile, we are talking about 1/4 mile an import has to have more top end then a muscle car to make up for the lack of torque any real race car driver will tell you that, if you fix an import up right w/ 400 hp it might run a 12 in the 1/4 mile, a muscle a mid 11. it takes over 400 hp to beat new stock muscle cars which is slower then the older ones, the new camaro and mustands run in the 12's w/ 420 hp, older cars runs in the 11's.

There's a huge trend here with most of these documented races: Imports have strong starts, but crap out towards the end. You know why? Because 4 cylinders simply cannot handle enough torque and power in the high end speeds as well as 8 cylinders. This is SCIENCE guys. A gallon will always house more fluids than an 8oz bottle. JDM or Domestic, any car brand can start developing awesome V8's, but it needs to be a decent platform vehicle, not some shitty 4 cylinder.
