@Haineko404 They tried to be serious and poetic - just look at their early works like "Savage Poetry" and "Kingdom of Madness" - but then they realized they ain't got what it takes and nobody actually takes them seriously, so they slowly took this path.

Don't take me wrong, I like their new stuff. Just pointing out that being a ridiculous clown is way easier than being serious, epic and poetic and recognized as such by majority of people (such as Anathema or Draconian for instance, IMO). :)

Btw, Tobi still has Avantasia going on in the more serious way, it's just that some musicians pretend like they are always this 'poetic' way - even when they're drinking with girls backstage and laugh...

Three more days and the new album is mine! I'm really looking forward to this. I've been a fan since buying Hellfire Club some years ago. I don't think they have a bad album. I actually really like the direction they've been taking. They keep their roots but dabble in all kinds of styles. It keeps things really interesting and fun to listen to. A lot of bands stick with one sound and get boring fast. Edguy's not one of those bands.
