Just bought one of these off ebay for £53 ! Woohoo.
I also have a Roland EF303, That's another fine bit of kit.
I have to agree with you regarding vst's vs hardware.
Yes, you can download some cool vst's for nowt but the really good one's like RMX or Omnisphere etc cost megabucks and they're only as good as the power of the pc you have. If your pc can't hack it, then you're limited.
Also..programs like Ableton are bloody temperamental. Brilliant, but unreliable.
@StrictClubBouncer software is yet to do what hardware can do - hardware is ultra reliable and the sound quality is far superior - you can't beat a nord synth
@nordrecordsuk thats basically like those stupid DJs say about oh just because you dont spin vinyl youre not a real DJ. THATS NOT TRUE. im not against hardware use but software is not better or worse. its just a different way to tackle the same issue.
and i can see where you say its reliable. ive had a few vst crash on me
I find the problem with software is it isnt as fun by far. An by creating a fun environment I am far more creative. Doesnt have to be expensive HW. Just berhinger stuff as here. Id rather have a studio full of Behringer than a laptop full of VSTs.
Also since everyone uses the exact VST/DAW tools and methods to make music these days, it all sounds the same. There is no individualism anymore.
@StrictClubBouncer Because twisting real knobs, playing real keys, patching real cables, etc. is more intuitive and more FUN. Get your hands on an analog synth and you'll understand.
@StrictClubBouncer Analog equipment isn't as expensive as you'd think. Learn to solder and you can build a kick ass PAIA 9700S modular synth for about $500. Or midi controlled desktop module kit (PAIA Fatman) for about $250 Or ebay an unappreciated moog (MG-1) for under $400. Or buy a brand new Mopho Module (By Dave Smith, Prophet V creator) off of Amazon. Well within the same price range as a decent rompler.
Nice work man! Not my thing musically, but it was sounding really impressive towards the end. I've had an RM1x for about 6 years or more now and never realised you can cue/repeat sections by holding shift and the section button...you just gave me a lesson man...thanks!
Thou needs to but out ! can he play anything was the question or just play factory set sounds looped ? come on you trying to say this is talent ? Please !
Yes I can play more than loops, if you look at the description you would see its something im working on, they are not preset patterns (show how much you know about the kit im using)
yea, the ms2000 is the ticket. get some serious dub siren delay squirrelly acid going on, this seems to want to be a tech house, techno 12" so i'd send it that direction... great drums!
If I were to recommend you to try anything, it would be changing the hi hats that begin at 1.08 in the video into something less.. less.. I'm at a loss for words with the terms, but I'd try to up the volume, down the bass, up the treble and "snap", increase decay time and stick a pinch of reverb on while at it, perhaps even using the RM1x's very own audio if there's any room for it. Still enjoying the choon though :)
cheers !!! its not a complete track yet, i will get in contact with you when its done, pop over to djdownload to listen to my current releases for free , link is at the top right of the page... thanx again !
Hey man,
Not meaning to be pedantic. Prog house is far slower and more fluid. This is quite abrasive. I think it has potential though for sure.
Love your set up

so i'm confused, whats the point of having this hardware when you can save thousands by having it as software?

@nordrecordsuk ohh okay so not even a really good sound card can match the quality of the hardware?

@nordrecordsuk nords are pretty good although why does the 2x sound better than all the rest?

WOO... LOTS OF TOYS !!!!
I've only got one of those. The Roland EF303
I bought mine for playing the Didgeridoo through (which sounds awesome !) but I've since delved deeper into what this beauty can do.... LOADS !
I'd recommend one to everybody.
Works really well with a Novation A station and the synth sequencer sounds good fed through a boss slicer pedal.
In fact the good ol Stylophone sounds bloody good through a slicer pedal too.
You have a nice set-up there.
Cheers
