i had some of these as pets in my fish tank, at night i would hear this loud clicking noise, i found out it was the mantis shrimp snapping off a crabs arm or breaking its shell. they can break the sound barrier under water, really crazy.

I have seen hundreds of them. Most aquariums with live rock in them will have one of these nasty buggers. they are known by fisherman as "thumb splitters" because, well that's what they do when you find one in your net. They have a almost club on one of their front claws that they use to crack open clam shells etc, and yes it has the power of a .22 round fired from a gun. I have seen them smash the glass in an aquarium if they get upset.
