That was nothing, the most recent one(today, 25th May 2007, 2.30-3.00) was much closer AND much bigger. At this rate, it is predicted that Malaysia will get a serious natural disaster, e.g Earthquake, Tornado etc.
water spouts has been spotted in Singapore before. not the first time and won't be the last, occasionally will happen. was explained in local newspaper many years ago, go do a little research.
I saw a white cloud tornado ( fail ) at ChongZheng Primary School,Parade Square at APPROX 10:37 AM Last year

Waterspouts aren't dangerous. It would disappear or become weaker as it nears the land.

once, a waterspout at Jurong has wreck some containers and injured a handful of people.
Fortunately, no one was killed.

i also saw 1 at east coast when canoeing 7 yrs ago, chased after it but i was gone when it hit a water breaker
