When I was little my dad played this song all the time. About ix months ago I was told that he had passed. Today I found him after about a six year period. It made my day and I can now listen to this song again.
This was my father / daughter dance 23 years ago at my wedding...not a dry eye was in the room when it played...and to this day i still cry when i hear it but the memories it brings back are priceless
Really prefer Al Martino's version to any of the others mentioned. Such a gentle voice with a meaningful message. Love the arrangement. Makes you want to sing along. RIP Mr. Martino. You left us a wonderful treasure.
Ever since my daughter was born I have thought about dancing with her at her wedding to this song. Well Oct 2011 will be my chance ! I have tears in my eyes listening and thinking about her big day
Happy Fathers Day Dad, still remember when i danced to this song with you. I miss being Daddy's little girl. Will never forget you, ever. I know you are with Mom, but I cant help from being selfish when i hear this song or an everyday thing that goes on in my life, that you would say or do. Just regret telling you all these things when you were alive. It wasn't that easy then, now that i can express these feelings you are not alive, but hope you hear them. Thank You Dad! I Love You.:)

Most girls my age dance to "i loved her first" or something else but I know my dad loves this song...used to sing it to me when I was a baby..so i am surprising him by dancing to this song at my wedding with him...I hope someone has kleenex because we will both need it! What a timeless classic!!!!
I am the baby of 8, my dad passed away 6 months ago & I miss him so much! Daddy I love & miss you so much! I will always be your little girl, I remember when you use to sing this song to me & I will never forget those times as well as all the other memories we shared, I love you always :) -3 R.I.P 12/03/10
I remember when I was 3 years old me and my dad danced to this song at my parents wedding for a father daughter dance. i'm using this song for my sweet 16 too :)
My dad used to sing this song to me when I was little and just after he married my stepmom she somehow picked up on our nightly routine and found me this beautiful carousel music player that plays this song. I absolutely love this song.
I dedicate this song to my Daddy in Scotland, & to my Uncle who adopted me & became my Father, who is now deceased. I love you both more than words can say! Daddy, I'll always be your little girl, & can't wait to see you in 2012. Dad, I miss you, & thank you for being so good to me. xoxo
I'd never heard this song before, and now that we're planning our wedding, I asked my dad what song he would like to dance with me to at our wedding, and he said this one. I had to hear it a few times, but it's grown on me.
Me too. My dad taught me to dance with this song many years ago. We danced to this song 17 years ago when I was married. I still cry when I hear this song. I love you, Daddy and I always will! Love, your little girl. :)
I was a true daddy's little girl, and my dad would sing this to me his whole life. I am much older now and he has been gone many years, but this song can make me cry faster than anything I know. I feel sorry for all the girls who missed out on being a daddys little girl !
my dad used to sing this to me all the time, and play it on his guitar. & now he's left me behind and his new wife is more important.. :'/ i miss you daddy. hope you always remember this song♥
@CarlDuke this song was knocking about in the 1940's and was sung by Steve Conway a radio Luxumburg disc jockey who died very young in the early 1950's
@tipple1933 Thanks so much for this information. I still prefer Martino, but I was able to find a sample of Conway singing this song and was impressed. He sounds a bit like Bing to me. In any case I was not familiar with him, and it is always fun to discover a "new" quality singer. It's kind of like finding out that a singer with the talent of an Eddie Fisher, Perry Como or Tony Martin just released a CD that somehow achieved air time in the current era.
my Dad sang this to me in the 70s, he's been gone since 91' I was 17 ,I still miss him every day.
