2 Mountains, 2 Swamps, 2 Forests, and Broodmate Dragon all depends on what type of deck and how much mana you have if your running something like 5 CC then you would not keep it

I agree, I rarely muligan. No amount of skill trumps bad luck. I have kept track latly, and i genmerally muligan into a worse hand ~60% of the time. (keeping in mind having 6 cards it takes the hand less to be worse.) If he is talking about draft, then muliganning the broodmate hand is redic. IMO

Idk. Sometimes you don't muligan and you pay for it with either mana flood or drought. I generally will take one muligan, but that's it. If I don't get the best hand I still run with it.

I beat a guy last booster draft because he didn't muligan only having one land in his hand. Not the best idea he ever had.....

combo beats kithkin? the only combo deck i know of is cascade swans, and im yet to lose to it and i play monowhite kithkin, pre board i kill them turn 4/5 as they do nothing, post board wispmare and more remove from game cards make sure his combo never comes out

All these Pros say that Chris Pikula was robbed and I agree but all of them say that they should have used the old art. Couldn't they have just redone a new piece of art with Chris Pikula? That way Chris doesn't get robbed and they would have had a piece of art that looks similar to the art done in the block. Wizards made a huge oversight on this. Even if they do own the rights to the card, it's just professional courtesy.

Would I keep the hand of 2 swamp, 2 Mountain, 2 Forest, and Broodmate Dragon? Hmm, if I could be sure I'd still be alive by turn 6, sure. Most of the time though, I'd probably mulligan. I wouldn't have many answers to threats in the time between turns 1 and 5.

I actually experienced a draft where I built a 40 card, 17 land jund deck with a broodmate. Now, if I were in that situation with my deck, I would keep it. Mainly because I have 0 one drops, 11 two drops, and 6 three drops. This means that 17/33 cards left in my deck won't be dead. I have an extremely good chance of getting a play within the next 3 turns.

Hmm, i have this argument alot. not just about meddling mage but the new style the art in magic is starting to use. I think tis bad. its flashy and it has little depth. an example is path to exile. i refuse to play with the regular non DCI foil ones because the art has no background and i personally hate it. terminate has this same issue so i play with planeshift terminates.

i do not like the new art myself , but the issue isn't whether or not its better. Chris's card should have chris on it.

It also means 50% of your deck is not land, so 50% of the time you're not drawing a land. The only times you should consider keeping a 1 land hand is when you have a mana creature AND several 2 drops.

Missing 1 land drop in this format is likely death, and missing 2 is certainly death. That's going to happen ~25% of the time.

never won a game having missed my second land drop. However as a player it is important to develop your own style, and his is not to mulligan. just as Cedric Phillips plays kithkin and Zac Hill plays decks that don't use combat. you should respect this.

the line of thought relating as to whether or not to keep it is this. your deck is 1 third land at this point. u have 5 draw steps to draw gas, any gas will keep u up enough for broodmate dragon to be the blow out it is.

it is a shakey hand, but not unkeepable.

I think the name changes are a pain in the arse.

however the combat change is a good one, it makes combat less clear cut and the correct play more difficult to find.

if they attack with a savannah lions and you ahve a sakura tribe elder under the old rules you block and with damage on u sac it to get the land. now you have to choose, and that adds strategic depth to the game.

I'd mull, simply because if the deck is stacked with 6 lands on the top it probably means I've shuffled it badly. If however you can assure me that the deck is completely randomized... I'd still mulligan since I'd had to draw zero lands the next 3 turns just to not get outraced.

There is no way you can mulligan that hand. If you think about it you have only 1/3 of your deck left that is land. You are just gunna draw strait gas and blow them out. Plus when you play Broodmate Dragon you just win on the spot.

Yes, by keeping that hand you give yourself a high concentration of gas, but you also create dead draws.
