  • Apparently, 12-year-olds cannot understand satire....

  • If you haven't seen this film, why are you commenting? They are making fun of conformist idiots (and "reality TV")

  • I quoted this song in a paper I wrote last year...It was my favourite part of the paper.

  • Okay... how could ANYONE take this as O'Brien's literal opinion? It's a parody of the psychotically homophobic attitudes that were prevalent in 1980s Reagan America. People really believed this sh*t back then, and not just extreme conservatives. O'Brien is SATIRIZING that.

  • @monkeysoulpoet I find it hard to believe it's directed toward "Reagen America" since the film came out in 1981 and was probably filmed before that, and Reagen started his presidency in 1981. I believe it's directed more toward the 1950s. The 50's were the era of McCarthyism and the presidency of Eisenhower "Ike". A more fitting era than 1981, for this mode of thinking that the dad is singing. He also puts on a World War Two/Post war helmet that was common of that era.

  • @StuG1945 Reagan was already quite well-known, both as an actor and as former governor of California. He was pretty much the conservative "star" of that moment in time.

  • IRONY; I LOVE IT! <3

  • Why do I think that guy is similar to the Soldier from Team Fortress 2.

  • @nextgentacos123 MAGGOTS!

  • Offensive, pathetic, whatever you want to call it...damn it, it's catchy.

  • Is it just me, or does Janet's dad look a hell of a lot like Ronald Reagan?

  • there's John Candy, again....

  • Rocky Horror praised sexual freedom and Richard O'Brien himself is bisexual so thinking that this song is to be taken literally is silly.

  • Brilliant parody. And makes me feel bad for anyboby trapped in conservative gender roles...

  • I love how some people don't realize that this song is meant to be the way it is.

  • Rayner Bourton (the original Rocky Horror) is the G.I. that sings in the center. Gaye and Annabel (Transylvanians) are apparently right behind him.

  • @SirMalrose The cop is the original Brad from the 1973 stage show!

  • wait what the fuck is this

this is really different from the movie.

  • "Faggots are maggots"

Yeah coming from a guy in a musical right? XD

  • @DoctorChibi740 I see no problem with a man being in a musical, I love musicals. The "faggot" quote is merely a reference to the thoughts and ideas on homosexuality at the time. Im not trying to herass you, Im just saying that its not gay to be in a musical.

  • @FalamfalaFilms Hey thanks for responding. Sorry for making a stereotype crack at the guy. I actually understand what was going on now after actually watching the movie. His character is supposed to be the prime of masculinity and such for that show they were on. If you were to crack a little sensitivity he would go out and do something manly to avoid the situation. Plus, yeah, it was a differant time. Did I get it Correcto?

  • @DoctorChibi740 Haha yes you did, dont worry about it.

  • Truly old fashioned real American hero.

Shock Treatment could have been awesome movie, but the satire plays much bigger part in the film than the actual plot and that's a big minus.

  • Wait a second, did they actually predict the Dubya quote "put food on the family?"

  • lol I love it. He should grab his crotch when he says 'Thank God I'm a man'

  • @ilovewizardrock LOL. The whole song is meant to be a satire

  • Haha, awesome!! I love Shock Treatment! :O)

  • faggots are maggots!!!

    "report abuse" xD

  • @ilovewizardrock Why do you write each word beginning with a capital letter?

  • I don't understand how this scene or song countinue the entire movie!

  • Hes a good singer. and you can tell they cut parts

  • genius

  • Definetly the worst song.

I find it funny though...in my mind it just seems to me like there making fun of the fact that "the man is supposed to provide" and that makes me happy because we all know its not true

  • well it well pokes fun at the american dream. everything there is white. like the white picket fence on the perfect fence. the MAN! is in charge he is the MAN! that must do the labour while the wife is in the kitchen. the american man ready for war on the russians. but as he sings. he sings about what he should do as a man but times changed and he isnt adjusting.

  • Faggots are Maggots

    Thank God I'm a Man

  • I don't really like the extra verse, it sounds a little awkward.

  • This is the best song in the flic....my opinion.

  • every time I hear this song along with

    shock treatment

    denton

    duet duet

    little black dress

    and farleys song

It makes me a fell awful about the fact that I do not own this movie

  • FYE has a two-pck now of this and rocky horror its mad cheap too

  • i bought one of those at wal-mart.

  • I bought them at Best Buy! The best $20 plus tax I've ever spent! The commentaries alone were exceptional!

  • he is mowing the hell out of that [green linolium floor?].

  • The 4th lady to the left in the first row is wearing Janet's wedding dress from Rocky Horror

  • Comment removed

  • oh wow.. the extended version.. brilliant

  • I know the settings my sparkplugs get!

  • bwahahahahaha..... i haven't seen shock treatment in so long!

  • Offensive but funny.

  • "hock another jock's tools!" this comin fr a man sayin " faggots are magots" funny lol

  • No, if you pay attention in the chorus they say "A jock should never", which he continues saying "hock another jocks tool"

  • This so relates to my father... fucking pig, hope he rots in hell.

  • mine too, good song though

  • Is John Candy in the third audience trio?!

  • Not according to the audio commentary on the DVD. The resemblance is frightening though, isn't it?

  • He wasnt that large in 82.

  • best movie EVER

  • ode to faggots!? dude its comedic. Rocky is easily the greatest show ever, thats why its got a cult following. My gf and i watch it often, and have been to the shw on more than one occasion. ST's musical score doesnt sound very good at all, and was a complete box office flop. I havn;t seen it yet, and hope to see it purely becoz its the RHPS sequel

  • You fail.

  • ode to faggots?honey your looking at a die hard rocky fan who is a straight, southern baptist christian.I think your right aboutt he art crowd but a lot of people love rocky. And i think both janets are god.there just diferent

  • Granted.

  • granted what?

  • i've never seen shock treatment but I do go to rocky regularly. Shock treatment doesn't seem..great? I'm not a middleschooler or middle aged freak, i'm a highschool social butterfly, so yea; shoot yourself WITHOUT the timewarp.

  • ^_^ Please go screw youself. ^_^

  • your a tard

  • the first time i saw it i thought it was really bad compared to RHPS. but a friend pointed out (they said on the extra features) that you shouldn't think of it as a "sequel" but just another movie (i mean related to it but not a "Rocky Horror 2"). and if you think of it like this its a really good movie =O and the songs are just as good =]

  • Agreed!

  • Is the person in the red dress/black hat at 53-57 a male or female???

  • @dstevenslsw Go and watch "Denton, Denton". There is a scene you can see that face closer. So in my opinion it´s definetly a woman.

  • @dstevenslsw You should watch "Denton, Denton". There is a scene you can see that face closer. It´s a female.

  • @dstevenslsw female

  • I can't get enough. This song repeats in my head on some idle Tuesday afternoon @ work.

  • @LiteraryDreams me too! lol

  • And no that's not John Candy on the left at 1:00 :)

  • Thank God I'm a man.

  • I agree with every single word in this song. There aren't any real men anymore.

  • You mean men like Richard the Lionheart, Montgomery Cliff, Rock Hudson and Kerwin Matthews you mean?

  • yes it is, but i still wanna see the full movie

  • did he say faggots are maggots ?

  • Of course it's pathetic! It's suppose to be a parody of The Conservative Macho Male! It's a brilliant reverse of "In Just 7 Days I Can Make You A Man!" from RHPS! If Dr. Frankenfurter's mockery of Rocky's exercise regimen could be played opposite this, they would both deliver the same message: manhood is a subjective term and it's ridiculous to define it by personal preferences! Another O'Brien masterpiece! He and Richard Hartley are definitely the Gilbert & Sullivan of the rock-n-roll age!

  • I agree with the above poster, O'Brien is just kinda poking fun at how "manhood" is represented. This movie is ahead of its time, take nowadays to be a real man, you must be a body building athlete!

  • I agree with you. There are so many ways people act that you can't let stereotypes or expectations define what makes a man. I personally think that what makes a real man is someone who's responsible capable and who is an overall good person.

  • But aren't you defining manhood by YOUR personal preferences? Couldn't your description apply to a woman as well as a man?

  • true and you make very good points, and I would like to take this time to expound upon my original statement. You have to find out what being a man means for yourself and apply it to YOURSELF, don't persecute others for their views on manhood. I was just offering my two cents on the matter nothing more or less. If you want to apply it to yourself fine, if not I won't care. And yes I suppose that my original statement could apply to a women, but I think becoming a real man (or women) is about

  • becoming an adult, not based on gender roles. Again This is just my opinion and I'm not trying to force it on anyone, I just want to share it in a calm and civilized manner.

  • Understood. I was just making the point that it's a common, human flaw to confuse the term "real man/woman" and "IDEAL man/woman." Few people that I've known qualify as IDEAL, myself included. As for REAL, I still maintain that this is a subjective term regardless of sexual and esthetic preferences. My view. Yours may vary, as is your priviledge.

  • Of course, I was using ironic humour regarding IDEAL. I should have used a smiley when I wrote that, I suppose.;)

  • it was funny, :) and you make very good points.

  • @BenDempster And it loses all merit once you know who wrote the song

  • @BenDempster

yes he did ,your suppose to hate his character. It's anti-gay ,anti-women ,racist.

  • Kick ass!

  • thank god ima man
