Ive played Metal Gear since the first one on the Nes and to me the cutscenes has always been a intgral part of the MGS experience. If you dont enjoy them just stay clear of the franchise.
I can't believe people actually whine about cutscenes in a game like MGS where storyline plays such a huge part in the game. Seriously, it's not like there's anything stopping you from just skipping them. And if you find the game too easy, try RAISING THE DIFFICULTY.
Ok, FF7 at the start was pretty funny and the montage was epic. I think MGS4 was great, but Snake Eater was better in my opinion.
Also, you're right about the plot. The B&B's didn't make sense... Psycho Mantis didn't make sense... "Bang" barely made sense... Snake crawling throught the hallway at the end when only the MKII needed to go through didn't make sense... Big Mama trying to save the body didn't make sense... The list goes on. I guess MGS fans are just used to this sorta thing by now.

i'm going to assume you watched a different video... this guy failed epically at the game. he got a few decent grabs in, but guess what, you just hold the melee button to do that, then he shot someone else, continue holding melee button and hold aim and shoot, quickly tap the melee button and you execute the dumbass you're holding onto. playing through the highest difficulty, fulfilling objectives and not ever getting spotted is skills. that was an idiot who played a MGS game like a standard FPS

I played the first MGS though and while it's story was intelligent and gripping for a videogame,it's so-called "stealth gameplay" was terribly broken,IMO. The only thing you waited while playing the game was for the next cutscene to come up (which didn't take long).

They're all a common theme within the game, but they're not created based off of them. Hell even their names (Wolf, Raven, Mantis) refer to the bosses in MGS1, it's pretty obvious.
You're comparing apples with oranges. The vast majority of the time playing Zelda features the player running around in massive acres of land. That's where most of the time is being spent. Metal Gear Solid features a lot of trial and error before the player progresses in the chapter. That's a major contributing factor of why it takes so long to beat the game. It's not solely because of the cut scenes, that's ridiculous.
Not necessarily true. I particularly remember having to die/continue a lot in the first mission when I gradually understood the map and began to learn the unprotected parts in the stage. I also remember dying a lot just before meeting Drebin until I learned that you can DISGUISE yourself as the enemy to be undetected as an intruder.
I played the game on "big boss hard," so while I could technically shoot at everything to proceed, it was easier to just learn the cool kinks in MGS.

Yeah, I don't see why people like Halo so much. I actually managed to enjoy Medal of Honor: Vanguard way better than any Halo game, and I'm not one who usually enjoys American war-time video games.
Halo brought very little innovation. Okay, probably no innovation. The gameplay was smooth enough to make up for it, but there was never an interesting task beyond the repetitive tasks to get me really hooked on the game.
Just because there's an FP view, doesn't mean it's trying to be an FPS. And if you've only played that one, which is squad-based; pretty different concept from the console games, you're really not in any position to say that it is, especially when you haven't played it.
Like call of duty!? ARE YOU SERIOUS!? Thats where this game failed, it tried to be like a first person shooter and it is not meant to be a first person shooter...
I agree alot with the fact he kinda did screw himself over with all the rubbish he made up throughout metal gear to metal gear solid 3. I still like it because its one of the only games I have which I completed 6 times, and to be fair I really don't know how you managed to complete it in 6 hours I completed it in 9 hours with skipping all the cutscenes on my 3rd try... and then buying the werid matchlock rifle, i AGREE alot but I still like the game because you can do alot more than simpley kill

MGS4's only "puzzle" element is the boss fights. And the strategy of "shoot at them" seems to work pretty well in every situation.
Barley any trial and error at all, you can stumble through the entire game, blowing shit up, getting caught when trying to be sneaky, etc.

You cant just shoot through MGS4 in the harder difficulty settings (at least, I couldn't). The AI is awesome and sneaking in is great fun.10/10

It's a pretty 3rd person shooter game, but MGS:4 is trying to be a fps..so i don't know how that worked out. X]

Just because there's an FP view, doesn't mean it's trying to be an FPS. And if you've only played that one, which is squad-based; pretty different concept from the console games, you're really not in any position to say that it is, especially when you haven't played it.

Awesome, I believe Kojima fucked up a lot on Metal Gear Solid. If they would have made it like call of duty, i would have been sick.

I agree alot with the fact he kinda did screw himself over with all the rubbish he made up throughout metal gear to metal gear solid 3. I still like it because its one of the only games I have which I completed 6 times, and to be fair I really don't know how you managed to complete it in 6 hours I completed it in 9 hours with skipping all the cutscenes on my 3rd try... and then buying the werid matchlock rifle, i AGREE alot but I still like the game because you can do alot more than simpley kill
