I'm not condoning the Versailles Treaty but the Germans brought it on themselves. They were isolated in 1914 for a reason. Their Weltpolitik had made them a pariah state (eg Moroccan Crises) and as Fritz Fisher's research made clear, the German leadership had every intention of starting a war in Europe in order to establish Germany as a major world power.
