BTW realcuteguyyayiyayi - what you saw was not an example of heuristic learning. You saw a deliberate program error to make it 'appear' as if it was thinking. All part of the QRIO marketing deception. BUT there are machines that can do close to that. Look up the DARPA desert AI robot vehicle challenge.
Its just working out programs that an underpaid Japanese C++ programmer coded. It has a large repertoire of human-like responses to its many sensors to FOOL humans (like you) into thinking it is a sentient being. I'll bet you are a big sucker for prestidigitation (slight of hand magic)?
No I just know about QRIO and it does NOT have FREE WILL as it is described in the "Oxford Dictionary". It is NOT a supercomputer. It was scheduled to be RF LINKED to one to enhance its A.I. You need to look up Artificial Intelligence. It is no where close to human FREE WILL.
Your definition of FREE WILL is a bit defective. AI is just a bunch of subroutines that are called by a master program in response to electronic stimuli. It's not like our free will. We are much more complex with out human intelligence. QRIO was supposed to be RF LINKED to a Supercomputer before the proj was canceled.
Naah! You won't see QRIO anymore. Well if you join the US Army or the Israeli Army you might if you have the right security clearance. DARPA and USN SPAWARS are considering QRIO but it has too many ranges of motion (27 in all) for their joystick-jockies to deal with. They prefer low-tech Talon Swords robots right now.
Aluviel - albeit this military website only Google search is not definitive proof of what I said earlier about the US military's interest in QRIO (a.k.a. SDR-4X) but it is damned interesting: tinyurl DOT com/2uvfkv
Also Google TALON SWORD ROBOTS. India and South Korea have also announced their intentions to use "kill bots" in the field. QRIO would make a great kill-bot with its pseudo-Free Will. Will it obey the Three Laws of Robotics?
IMO proj was canceled because someone else wants to use them 4 another proj. You'll prolly hear abt through yr friends n "low or high places".
IMO they don't have free will - per se... those r canned responses via 'human mimicking' mode. The AI supercomp can choose a canned response in a pseudo-f-will mode though.
Dont be an idiot. the moves are programmed but they move slightly different because of an internal gyro like inner ear fluid. They are programmed to move but must answer to the gyro so they can maintain balance so the sequences are slightly different. Stop watching so many movies.
the weird thing is that they are programmed to be together, when the robot looks up to see if the other ones get up, the makers didnt program it to do that. it has free will.
bro u are right, but if u have seen i robot, it could be a glitch, or spirit, but they do have free will, they learned that sequence, it wasnt a progamed thing, they even mess up in this sequence, 1:27
it talks, dance, walks, remember ppls fases and can remember their name. the can kick bals and cast balls. they can have a onversation with a human being.
Of course its eye candy! Thats what the average person expects and thats what Sony made. Asimo can do more useful stuff but doesnt have the "loveability" that sony put in Qrio. And there is no way they really canceled it. Think, why throw the entire project in the trash when they can work on it again later?
No wonder, they probaby need more time to program the dance as to develope the whole robot... AS there is absolutely no use for these as for entrataiment...
mmm just think about history. Stuff from Japan used to be called "Jap Crap." They aren't neccessarily fantastic completely original idea inventors. They are just extremeeely good at improving and building on inventions so they are more advanced....
correct me if I'm wrong. but i think that is what has happened.
yea its smart but here it just looks like sexy eye candy. well i cant say sexy because its so small, that would make me a pedophile or something. a robopedo? thats got to be a new and scary term. but yea sony will bring them back some day...in the future... i refuse to say good bye to the most advanced little robo thing. at least honda still has their asimo bot, clumbsey as it is, its still uber advanced. and those zaney japanese will out-do the qrio in no time!
To bad they scrapped the project.

As far as I know. they took Qrio off the market when Sony losed down its robots division.
