The early Christian church held March 25th to be the date of Christ's death. Therefore, it was assumed that 9 months later, December 25th, was the date of Christ's birth. The pagan holiday that you refer to does not actually show up in the historical record until after Christians started celebrating Christmas.

I had to come to a decision with God that if my son was to die would I still have Faith in Him. His son was severely injured during a battle, right; his wife actually died due to burnings caused in an accident but their house was safe and still exists. but yes, he did got inspired by the death of the wife he loved very, very much (he never really recovered from her death and got seriously injured while trying to save her, to the point he could not be at her funeral) and his son's grave injuries. and yes, i bet he was feeling desperate.

Just saw the Christmas in Washington video. Hilarious! You guys are great. To be able to be at such play behind the scenes, and then come out with something so moving. But this one is my favorite. For the longest time, this was among my favorite Christmas songs. Then, after Casting Crowns performed their own rendition, and told us the true story behind the song... I nearly wept. This song, is now among my favorite songs to listen to, period.

This has got to be the most beautiful song, the combination of voices, lead vocals, and strings...and that drummer......he's really good.....seems when watching this video my eyes keep getting drawn to him and the way he keeps rhythm. The video as a whole is wonderful and I listen to it all year long. Thanks Casting Crowns!

It's a beautiful song. There's power on the lyrics and music. There's nothing like worship the LORD with a beautiful song. Casting Crowns, one of the best.

I know everyone has their own taste in music and everyone has a right to their opinion, but I don't see how any Christian can push that dislike button when the song is a tribute to our Christ.
