idk y people think ravens arent good for pvp its all in ur setup implants and skills. i like my raven with all skills to with the exception of cruise missile spec 5 i get 4092 dps and a firing rate of 6.52 sec out of my T2 cruise of course thats also having all the +5% cruise missile implants and my tank holds up very well using the HG crystal set so yea i have some isk tied up in my head but its worth it when u find urself in a jam

I would like to add to this, that the raven is probably ratting fit, however living in 0.0, the only fit ever should be a pvp fit. and imo, that raven would ahve stomped if it dumped the web for a heavy neut and a med nos in the last 2 highs, eyah the mega had a booster, but that only buys him a little time, but its, I have found, never enough. Another thing going in the mega's favor, most raven pilots are fucking noobs and dont know how to use them anyway. eve = 30% ship/sp and 70% player
@jnrivers I beg to differ I have gone 1v1 with every bs and bc with my buffer fit trop raven and have lost only once and that was to a triple time rematch hyperion that was refitting specifically to take me on till eventually he beat me with only 5% hull remaning. And that kill really only says that they were pretty much equal concidering thats such a clsoe kill that it could have simply came down to a nice crit with his guns since it was all down to who got the last shot.

i had just gotten my Abaddon and could not yet use large weapons so i fit it with medium weapons and took it into a lvl 2 mission and just about lost it. i had like 50% structure left when my warp finally engaged.
i was a noob.. but when i trained the right skills i tanked a lvl 4 blockade mission and ran it solo. the abaddon has a beastly tank when fit right. i also got a navy apoc but was scared to loose it when i took it into missions so i had it for a couple weeks then sold it. but the tank on that did very well.
getting a navy issue ship (especially a navy issue battleship) is really scary taking it into missions solo unless you have back up. i think when i had mine i only took it out to maybe 2 or 3 solo lvl 4 missions and i almost lost it the last time. that is when i sold it and bought the armageddon, apocalypse, and abaddon. those ships are a lot easier and cheaper to replace then the navy apoc. it was hella scary when i almost lost it. i was like panicking when i got low in armor.
oh thats true. but i was already able to solo lvl 4 missions in all my battleships but i had the wrong tank fit when i almost lost my navy apoc. the lowest in ship health i have ever gotten was like 15% structure in my abaddon. that was scary. i volunteered to be the main tank in an all damage mission (i did not know it was all damage) i was told kin + therm. so i fit that and got warp scrammed and the scrammer finally died and my warp engaged when i was at like 15% structure
That's why everyone always will recommend that you level up your supplemental skills before jumping into any big ship. A properly skilled cruiser can take you into *most* lvl 3 missions, not all, but quite a few of them. Also, large weapons are truly only going to be effective against cruiser/battleship size rats, those frigs will get you if you're not careful with large guns. But work on your armor tanking first of all before you head back out with your Abaddon.

Not true actually, you must be forgetting drones. Also, unless you have a target painters, torps will only do ~70% of the damage they say they will to a BS. With that taken into account, a mega will deal almost 500 dps more, or 200 more excluding drones.
500 dps more , Unlikely , with capped skills it will be close but if Raven is using faction/t2 dps torps it will be close , im not talking a Carebear raven here im talking 3-4 BCU Tech 2 130,000 effective hp buffertank raven with 1 target painter ofcand just point no web
Again depends of the configuration of both ships...I myself use almoast 1100 shield tank (650 shield regenerated every second ) and 800 dps dmg but tru...it's a cal navy raven...what i would like to see is a good old fashion navy mega vs navy raven! :))
@toyd011 what setups are you comparing? my torp raven does 1158 dps? I want to see the BS, not just mega, that does 200-500 more dps than that. please demo. And thats WITH a perma running heavy neut and a med nos in my other 2 highs. Also has nearly 25.5k shields and a total ehp of 113k and a point. Nothing better than T2. (BTW I love all ships in eve and all have their role, I just really want to hear what your refering to...)

The mega setup I'm talking about is t2 fit (t1 rigs), no implants, 1 medium neut, heavy injector, point, web, 28.5k armor (100k EHP) 1360dps including drones (well 1336 with my skills). @toyd011 so what are you doing to net 28k armor with 100ehp AND 1360 dps, even with dread guristas antimatter, thats stilll only going to pull 1293 with max skills, unless of course you arent actuallying use T2, and are using faction mods or are factoring some implants of various types.... (again I love all ships, and fly them all aside from the titans, I have played long enough to tell you the tp doesnt matter vs other bs...)
The Raven shoulda warped, you weren't equipped with a warp jammer but had a webber. Regardless the Raven is an idiot, he should have warped after his shields went. And yes a passive tank is much better for ganking than a active tanked mega.
Whoa my bad, i didn't notice that the video was from 2007. The PC I viewed it on is horrible and the monitor is worse, so NO i didn't see the friggin jammer in the HIGH slot.
The Raven pilot got owned, and almost always will get owned by a megablaster/blasterthron that gets close enough. The lesson: Have back-up.

Dont take this the wrong way but if you're not sure about fitting then I'd leave the Mega in the station and practice fittings with a cruiser. In terms of PVP vs PVE (ratting), your setup will vary because they have different requirements and skills. For PVP you probably want an active tank and some real thought put into the rigs. For PVE you can normally get away with a passive tank. Fly safe.
Actually. Pretty much opposite. In a mission, for example a LVL 4 Angels Extravaganza, you are going to get tooled hard with a passive tank. On the flip side of that, in PVP with an active tank, you can't fit the Neutron IIs. You want to fly an active tanked ship in PVP, fly the Hyppie. Its a MUCH better active tank than the Mega. For pure gank though, a two plate neutron megathron is definately worthy of respect.
the mega is running 3 harders and i can bet 100 mil that the 3 hardners would have been EXP/THEM/KIN so his Resistances would have been pretty even across the board with "ironicaly" EM in this set up being the lowest. switching or not switching ammo would make little to no difference and possibly even be worse to a amour tank set up.
Well congrats, at least the raven put up a fair fight ... not sure why it didnt have any drones but ... I am guessing he was using EM torpedos, thats why he droped your shield so quickly and at the same time I am guessing that one of your hardeners was anti-EM thats why he couldnt scratch your armor?
There are some ships that can travel quite fast, but aside from orbiting your target at speed, the combat won't be much different from this video. You will still essentially activate your modules and wait. EvE isn't really an action game.
Eve pvp visually is less exciting. But it takes alot of thinking, timing and knowing whats going on to win in EvE. Agreed its kinda boring but if your interested in fleet warfare, eve is fun. Just takes some getting used to.
hard to explain, lets just say if u were in wow and your high level armor and ur charecter was at steak in a all or nothing fight. you lose, you lose all ur gear, and charecter. Thats how this is in a way. Hope that helps
yes, eve battles dont have blood and gore and guts, so visually could be better, but the game is fun, these are 2 BATTLESHIPS fighting, among the slowest ships, but they do have smaller ships in the game, like interceptors (kinda like fighters) cruisers, frigates ect that are more fast paced, and they probably werent moving much, because they are in an asteroid belt and would get bumped, which makes them easier targets. another thing, the megathron (our point of view)
was using guns, the battleship he was fighting was using missiles. also back to the part where they were in the asteroid belt, if they were fighting outside a station, chances are, the ships would probably have been moving (not the target ship as he was being webified, or slowed down) but our BS, maybe, check out the game, you can download the trial version, steep learning curve though, and dont get down if you get killed once or twice, in EVE, EVERYONE gets killed
Both ships, especialy the raven were poorly equiped. The raven only had 4 torpedo launchers for some reason, when it could mount 7 cruise launchers to greater efficiency. Also, you megathrone setup was a little weak, thumbs up for taking away the range of his missiles by getting close, otherwise you would probably die since he would outgun you at longer range.
Not sure why you say he was using 4 launchers, the reason 4 launchers appeared on the killmail was because this was before trinity and dropped items didn't show on mails. (so I think this was before the torp buff too) He also had 3 BCU's on. Also the Raven has 6 launcher slots, the navy issue is the one with 7.
The setup is a bit weak, was designed more for gangs and had a remote rep and t1 guns because I couldn't use t2. I usually flew with 1 or 2 others.

Again depends of the configuration of both ships...I myself use almoast 1100 shield tank (650 shield regenerated every second ) and 800 dps dmg but tru...it's a cal navy raven...what i would like to see is a good old fashion navy mega vs navy raven! :))

@toyd011 what setups are you comparing? my torp raven does 1158 dps? I want to see the BS, not just mega, that does 200-500 more dps than that. please demo. And thats WITH a perma running heavy neut and a med nos in my other 2 highs. Also has nearly 25.5k shields and a total ehp of 113k and a point. Nothing better than T2. (BTW I love all ships in eve and all have their role, I just really want to hear what your refering to...)

The mega setup I'm talking about is t2 fit (t1 rigs), no implants, 1 medium neut, heavy injector, point, web, 28.5k armor (100k EHP) 1360dps including drones (well 1336 with my skills). @toyd011 so what are you doing to net 28k armor with 100ehp AND 1360 dps, even with dread guristas antimatter, thats stilll only going to pull 1293 with max skills, unless of course you arent actuallying use T2, and are using faction mods or are factoring some implants of various types.... (again I love all ships, and fly them all aside from the titans, I have played long enough to tell you the tp doesnt matter vs other bs...)

The Raven shoulda warped, you weren't equipped with a warp jammer but had a webber. Regardless the Raven is an idiot, he should have warped after his shields went. And yes a passive tank is much better for ganking than a active tanked mega.

Yes they are. But once you're flying your ship, you can change the 'logical' position of your outfits to where ever you wish.

If you use the Fn-keys to activate your outfits, it's faster/easier to activate everything when you don't have to hold-down a modifier.

Whoa my bad, i didn't notice that the video was from 2007. The PC I viewed it on is horrible and the monitor is worse, so NO i didn't see the friggin jammer in the HIGH slot.
The Raven pilot got owned, and almost always will get owned by a megablaster/blasterthron that gets close enough. The lesson: Have back-up.

Dont take this the wrong way but if you're not sure about fitting then I'd leave the Mega in the station and practice fittings with a cruiser. In terms of PVP vs PVE (ratting), your setup will vary because they have different requirements and skills. For PVP you probably want an active tank and some real thought put into the rigs. For PVE you can normally get away with a passive tank. Fly safe.

Actually. Pretty much opposite. In a mission, for example a LVL 4 Angels Extravaganza, you are going to get tooled hard with a passive tank. On the flip side of that, in PVP with an active tank, you can't fit the Neutron IIs. You want to fly an active tanked ship in PVP, fly the Hyppie. Its a MUCH better active tank than the Mega. For pure gank though, a two plate neutron megathron is definately worthy of respect.

the mega is running 3 harders and i can bet 100 mil that the 3 hardners would have been EXP/THEM/KIN so his Resistances would have been pretty even across the board with "ironicaly" EM in this set up being the lowest. switching or not switching ammo would make little to no difference and possibly even be worse to a amour tank set up.

Well congrats, at least the raven put up a fair fight ... not sure why it didnt have any drones but ... I am guessing he was using EM torpedos, thats why he droped your shield so quickly and at the same time I am guessing that one of your hardeners was anti-EM thats why he couldnt scratch your armor?

There are some ships that can travel quite fast, but aside from orbiting your target at speed, the combat won't be much different from this video. You will still essentially activate your modules and wait. EvE isn't really an action game.

Eve pvp visually is less exciting. But it takes alot of thinking, timing and knowing whats going on to win in EvE. Agreed its kinda boring but if your interested in fleet warfare, eve is fun. Just takes some getting used to.

hard to explain, lets just say if u were in wow and your high level armor and ur charecter was at steak in a all or nothing fight. you lose, you lose all ur gear, and charecter. Thats how this is in a way. Hope that helps

yes, eve battles dont have blood and gore and guts, so visually could be better, but the game is fun, these are 2 BATTLESHIPS fighting, among the slowest ships, but they do have smaller ships in the game, like interceptors (kinda like fighters) cruisers, frigates ect that are more fast paced, and they probably werent moving much, because they are in an asteroid belt and would get bumped, which makes them easier targets. another thing, the megathron (our point of view)

was using guns, the battleship he was fighting was using missiles. also back to the part where they were in the asteroid belt, if they were fighting outside a station, chances are, the ships would probably have been moving (not the target ship as he was being webified, or slowed down) but our BS, maybe, check out the game, you can download the trial version, steep learning curve though, and dont get down if you get killed once or twice, in EVE, EVERYONE gets killed

Both ships, especialy the raven were poorly equiped. The raven only had 4 torpedo launchers for some reason, when it could mount 7 cruise launchers to greater efficiency. Also, you megathrone setup was a little weak, thumbs up for taking away the range of his missiles by getting close, otherwise you would probably die since he would outgun you at longer range.

Not sure why you say he was using 4 launchers, the reason 4 launchers appeared on the killmail was because this was before trinity and dropped items didn't show on mails. (so I think this was before the torp buff too) He also had 3 BCU's on. Also the Raven has 6 launcher slots, the navy issue is the one with 7.
The setup is a bit weak, was designed more for gangs and had a remote rep and t1 guns because I couldn't use t2. I usually flew with 1 or 2 others.
