I am the driver of this iveco truck, problem is, only one drive axle and the second steer axle does not lift. Cheers for the help lads, on a industrial estate in Bristol, England.
@edj66 I would buy after 95 and before 2001, but i never see many around Gloucesterhire these days, particulally the ones like mine with the discovery like wheels (alloys)
@Watkoproductions I think the Hummer is wide but not really too big.... i don't have any experience with Hummers so have no realy opinion either way.....
Let's face it Land Rovers and Jeep have pedigree and anyone who puts down either have no idea about either Marque to be honest. Get over yourselves, they are both at the top of their respective markets for good reason and have been around for longer than all the rest.....
Most articulated lorries only have one live axle (driving axle) on the tractor unit! This surprised me as I used to think both axles were driven like on a Leyland Bison (a great truck but an expensive first purchase soon repaid by not constantly breaking down like lightweight Repair Daily models) One driven axle is very poor in the snow! Military tractor units are usually 6x6 but as they are tax exempt the extra weight has no financial penalty.
I'm sorry but that Rover could not have been pulling that thing fully loaded. No way in hell the frame is strong enough to pull 80k lbs. Now maybe, just maybe I could think 25k lbs without frying the clutch(es) in the transmission.
@zapityzapzap VW Towed a 110 ton Boeing 747 with a stock touareg to market their introduction of the 5.0 V10 Diesel (look it up on youtube: TOUAREG PULLING A 747). So frames can be strong enough to pull heavy weights...however his is quite an old Rover so idk how well British Leyland built their frames
@saukscm Keeping your engine in the power band on slower pulls. Which I wouldn't trust a Rover much when it comes to the engine. They don't make it more than around 50k miles where I'm from, at least the discovery's.
@zapityzapzap thats the biggest load of shit i've ever heard. We've got two classics and a series 3 with rover v8's, and with regular servicing, all have proven utterly reliable, and all have over 100 thou. Get ur facts straight.
@zapityzapzap and all the v8's from this era are the same, discovery, 90 or rangie, the only difference is the exhaust manifold. So you dont know what your talking about.
@Wakozzi I'm sorry, all of my fiends discos have engines that crap out on them ever 50K miles or so. The sad part is theirs never see any time of the highway. All they say is they should've bought a Cherokee, cost about 1/4 of the price too.
@zapityzapzap Jeep is American trash. My friend has a Disco with 289,000 on it. Bought it at 70,000. It's had a new turbo and injectors, no other engine work bar servicing.
would that be 289k miles, or 289k KM ?? How is Jeep trash, because your friend has a car with im guessing almost 300k miles ? I know many Jeeps that have gotten to that and havent had any problems.. Maybe you havent heared of the Inline 6 4.0 engine ? They run forever, and the Magnum V8 engines which have been used for over 40 years can easily get to 300k
There is a chart online i cant find right now, but it has a huge list of Dodge and Jeeps on it and it shows the mileage, and what has been done to keep them serviced. Most of them are well beyond 200k..
Personally all this bickering over 4X4's is tiresome, you Euro's can have your Landrover's, and we will stick to our Jeeps. One thing i know is you are braggin over a vehicle that costs $20-30k more then a Jeep lol. Thats surely something to be proud of there good for you !!!!

Best jeeps you can buy. Land Rover, and even the luxury one's are the best...Range Rover.

@Will210294; A Cummins pick up! What is one of them?

@s13hgp a pickup with a v10 cummins twin turbo diesel. sir.
Will210294 2 weeks ago
@Will210294; Now I understand, I knew a man who put a Cummins in a Range Rover, that was an awesome beast.
s13hgp 2 weeks ago
@s13hgp yes range rovers are great, but american engines are incredible. ford powerstroke 7.3l or a twin turbo cummins anyday

This is why you buy British.
jonnyb1900 5 months ago 18
@jonnyb1900 Yeah, but only second hand British. New British are awful - have you seen the new DC100? I mean, what a way to ruin Land Rover.
edj66 3 months ago
@edj66 Yeah, currently using a 97 defender, never had a problem with (bar the usual outrigger rott)
The DC100 should of been filed under Range Rover in my opinion
jonnyb1900 3 months ago
@jonnyb1900 Ah man, I am bloody jealous. I'd love a mid 90s Defender. Perhaps the last model before the TD5. *saves pennies*

@vampyresteve And would you agree that Hummer's are too big for their surroundings?.. To be fair they are crap compared to the Landy and Jeep
