  • i missed that wut did he just say lol

  • Garbage.

  • what the hell is he trying to say?

  • @expostfactum he is saying how long till chow, what they are serving and so on

  • @thejessman21 and whats the point of this? Frankly, its retarded and im shocked to see we waste part of our training time to get our troops to do something as worthless and silly as this.

  • @expostfactum The point is for people to become, quick, efficent and memorize things. Dicipline, etc. It's not one thing, it's the whole package.

  • @expostfactum

These are fucking WANNABE officers. what do you expect? they like wasting time. And once they become REAL officers, they'll just waste more time.

  • @Rac665 You're an idiot. Tell that to Colonel Ripley dumbshit.

  • @expostfactum It's not really wasting time because.

  • Why??? Totally wasted time and noise because you can't understand him anyways.

  • @scrm1 What part did you not understand? It was very clear that he is giving the 5 minute call before formation, naming the officers of the watch for the day.

  • I did not understand a word of what that midshipman said. Good luck to him in the desert.

  • chow calls suck...especially all calls...morning ones are the worst

  • lol

  • thats the "menu of the day"

  • haha i wouldve made him do it again for diction.

  • slightly weird but some hot guys running about

  • stupid boot camp games ,,just you wait till you join the real navy!!

  • It's nice to see that upperclass now have the sense of humor to do things like this. In my company, my class was not even allowed to have a traditional 100 days til grad revenge night. Never in my entire plebe year did I see an upperclass doing those "plebe things."

  • I was a plebe in 1980, and as fast and loud as that was, I would have been told to start over if I was slurring my words like that. I assume there weren't a lot of special events in the Yard that day, lucky for him. Time, tide, and formation wait for no one, I am now shoving off, five minutes SIR.

  • Hello, i dont know you but i am preparing to apply to the academy. do u have any pointers since you went there yourself?

  • what is he exactly saying in this?

  • they are saying the meal of the day

  • Chow calls are made at 10 and 5 minutes before meal formations by the plebes. The point is not to be understood or to be a clock, but to teach how to continue with a mission while under stress. These chow calls are given six times a day, every day, 365. The Upperclassman did not lose a bet, but instead was showing the plebes how it could be done and he kicked their ass! Watch it again and see how much time elapsed between when he finished and the plebes at the end of passageway finished.

  • No, he lost a bet. It's changed since your day, grandpa Todd.

  • That was too funny! In the

Airforce, we just used a clock to tell us when to go to chow...hmmmmm now that's a concept. A clock. It is rather boring though, it never made me laugh or cry, it just said, chow time. Silently.

  • I just can't stop laughing, Nicely put...Nicely put.

  • Plebe chow call is normally done with a few upper classman yelling at them at the same time. People like Jimmy Carter, John McCain and Admiral Mike Mullen (Chairman of JCS) would have done this exact same thing as a freshman at the Naval Academy. It's meant to train the freshman to think clearly under pressure, an important skill to have for any military officer. You have to be in the military to understand it. Chair force can sit back and laugh at it with the rest of the civilians though.

  • I would think it would cause one to learn to ignore ridiculous noise during meetings or staging committees. Is that your point?

  • yeah.. dumping on the air force as always.. we do chow calls too just not so ridiculously fast

  • Are you calling purina cat chow? why not just buy it in the supermarket? geeze no wonder we cant win viet nam

  • why do you think that?

  • i have not seen that scince i was at Bulimba army barrics 2 years ago. and it was done by a visiting US Marine.

  • all i understood was SIR.

  • What is the point of chow calls? especially at that speed

  • lost a bet to a plebe ??? ... find a mean Marine Major with a perpetual "Romeo Alpha" and give this segundo permanent come-arounds for the remainder of the year ... lost a bet to a plebe indeed ! ... good thing it was only chow calling and not his ass [or is that not allowed anymore ?]

  • Ass is not allowed anymore -- there's a shock. The bets on the football game are standard and the brass seems fine with it. Plebes must bet on Navy -- the better Navy does, the more upperclass have to pay out on bets as with doing these chow calls. Most of the time the plebes bet to give themselves a few more privileges.

  • Are you people crazy? This is what you do at lunch? That guy sounded like the micro machine man. I don't think I was even awake at noon when I went to school. You guys had it rough! Still a cool school with some weird traditions, I just would not have survived all that stuff.

  • wow

  • he lost a bet to a plebe; that's why he's doing it

  • he's my class mate, but who teh fuck does that?

  • thats my company and right by my room....yeah!!!
