Mike's teacher in Mantis Master Su Yu Chang, and his son, from WuTang Martial Arts, I am sure is very proud of Mike's accomplishments, and the level in which he performed. Mike is gone now, but his legacey remains. WuTang, Belguim is his school to be carried on by his students...I attended his Memorial Service in College PT NY, alot of friends, students and classmates. It was a great tribute to his contribution and responsibilty in spreading what could be lost one day...The Martial Arts. peace
Awesome video, your students are very, very lucky!
Quick question--I learned bagua from a student of Jason Tsou's many years ago. However, the Xiaokaimen I learned is slightly different from the versions you demonstrate here--any ideas why?
Most martial arts are edited slightly in form to suit the body of the user. You may have noticed during your training ( if you paid close attention, that your way of moving during a waza was slightly different from your master's. everyone has there own little quirks in their movments. This isn't a matter of skill some moves just feel different to different people.
excellent Bagua Mikemartello,as I am new to Bagua,I am Fascinated by the numerous forms and styles I have seen. not new to the internal MA (Hsing I & Tai Chi) I am curious, as you advance I thought the forms became softer yet more connected showing a high degree of speed and suppleness, when you show the advanced level it almost looks like a hard form, is that to intentionally show the strength more graphically on video? You have shown excellent Kung Fu,
I'm a student of Liu Yun Chao ba qua chang, you are a good teacher.. Glad to see someone in the family perform the form and explain the theory of the form so well.. May I know from whom Wu tang you have learned baqua..? Thanks
hi nhoviet, I don't practice Bagua forms much anymore, this was a small idea I wanted to convey. I learned from many "Wu" level teachers, each has his own expression on Bagua. Probally the most influences on me was; Dai SeChe, Su, Hsu and just plain old practicing... Who did you or still study with? Thanks for your comments... mike
I am not sure if you remember me. I did a demonstration with master wu laoshi my bagua teacher. You did a sword form. I wasn't aware you practiced bagua too. Good clip
Always happy to see sifu martello demonstrate and talk. Learned a lot and still enjoy his teaching to this this day, although a can not attend his classes anymore. That the year of the pig may bring lots of good to this school.
hope i get the chance to come over again real soon!
Thank you slimdaoist for the nice comments. As I said above somewhere;
I just want to show and help the community to better understand old skool TCMA, my teacher is 81 and well we are the next generation and must practice seriously to pass on the antiques. More to come...
Glad you did not take my comments about your Shan Fa in the wrong way. Because I mean no disrespect. I can see you are very skilled in CMA no question. Good you did a video response to that demo clip. because what they are practicing is not BGZ. Your video will help new bees see the real BGZ training. Again good job.
Nah, its all good. You aint no troll and your feedback is the kind I like to hear!!! It Helps me... You also keep up the good work with your vids, and keep showing the truth, besides I like seeing NY in the background!
One thing I like to point out is not all BGZ systems utilize soft and subtle movements, The Yin BGZ (Cao ZhongSheng linage )I was taught, many of the palm movements are done with quick fast movement in issuing power, the essential point is in the merging of hard and soft. Anyway good video response, good job, your video was well done, but was not feeling that music, I am more a hip hop cat...LOL
Novell thanks, much appreciated and I know you don't like BS stuff. You know we go back, 440 Laffayett, China Town Park, Tye Nunez days. Yes I agree not all systems are the same. Shen Fa is just that everyone will be different because of body types. Spice is life. Thanks for the positive feedback.
Nice BGZ video, but I am not feeling your BaGuaZhang Shan Fa expression, your Yin style movements look to soft and flowery for my style. But you the best I 've seen perform this Xiao Kai Men Zhang from.
Bu-Kechi, Glad you liked. I just want to show and help the community to better understand old skool TCMA, my teacher is 81 and well we are the next generation and must practice seriously to pass on the antiques. More to come...
Thank you: one of the best ba gua vids on the net.

Because I feel that you know your stuff.
