@infarkt11 No you are not the only one to get goosebumps. Most guitarists can make their guitars play great music.... David Gilmour makes his guitars SING! I can't explain it any other way but to say when he plays he makes the guitar have emotions.
I'm seventeen. I've finally have see Roger Waters. That was one of my last things to do before I die. Now that jsut leaves Gilmour and I could finally say I don't give a crap of what happens to me. My life is truly complete
Gilmour is a god to me. I have done nothing but studied him and practiced his songs for 6 months. But to say he is superior to Waters is myopic. Yes, Gilmour is superior as a guitar player, but what about song writing skills? Like saying the sun is superior to the moon, but not if you like moonlite nights with the ladies!

Interesting to see this solo evolve from the album track (a bit flat) through early live shows, Gdansk, and finally here. Sheer mastery over the guitar which can never shine through in the same way on a keyboard instrument. At 1.58 on he almost seems to be conducting a living thing rather than 'playing' it, truly amazing.
Truly a god sent talent from a man who channels his expression to us all through his fretboard ( and I ain't religeous) he was born to bring everyone who listens to his music something that will never be heard of or replicated by anyone ever again. We thankyou mr Gilmour for everything you've ever contributed to this world. Long may you live you legend.
This is a very sweet track. You can actually feel the warmth flowing .. So cool to see/hear these 'three greats' sing together .. Thank you for this treat :)
great concert,if you are listening to the audio album, you can see tahat is similary to the styl that gilmour has putten at the other albums of floyd, but in a moder way.....it sounds awsome....
IMHO, David Gilmour creates the best guitar solos of all time. I believe Pink Floyd owes their huge success to David Gilmour. One need only listen to and compare David Gilmour's solo albums with those of Roger Waters'. Waters' solo albums are pathetic. To me, the sound of Pink Floyd will always be indentified by the melodies written by David Gilmour, regardless of whether they are sung by David or played as a guitar solo. Songs written by Waters' were at best mediocre.
I couldn't agree with you more. Without David Gilmour, Pink Floyd would have been so/so!!! Gilmour pushed Floyd over that edge to greatness. I've said that for many, many years. It's no surprise he's doing OK as a solo artist. I'm a huge Gilmour fan. You can hear the Floyd in his music, so that says a lot right there.
Hymm. Comparing Roger water to david Guilmour is comparing apples and orenges. Davide Guilmour is one of the best guitarist to walk this earth and Roger Water is one of the best song writers. Them combine is pinkfloyed one of the best bands ever.
@phantom478 I think production-wise i can agree, but Roger Waters has some very interesting ideas and musical direction, i can appreciate both very much
@phantom478 you are not stating a fact, but an opinion which means nothing to any Pink Floyd fan. Why does it matter? Is there a need to put one above the other? No, I didn't think so......
@phantom478 Sorry for disagreeing, I just think they are both important to music. Each one in their brilliant way of expressing themselves through it.

not trying to be a dick, just making a suggestion =/
I once read a comment by a critic who wrote that Gilmour could do more with a single string and one fret than most guitarists with six strings and a full fretboard could.
That's so true. I don't know if you'll understand what I mean, but he makes the perfect progressions and as he plays a great note all he has to do is play one single perfectly chosen note right after it, and you are dead! It's amazing!
He's the only one I know other than Clapton who can do that; Eric can bring me near to tears with a single note, it amazes me the emotion he can wring out of a single note with all the nuances of tone...and Gilmour has that same gift.
I'm so lucky to have seen this concert along with floyd in 94, what a great moment in my life! i'm grateful to have seen Richard play along side David, Nick Mason was drumming for waters who was doing a gig at the same time...guess who got the biggest crowd? lol
As a guitarist, David Gilmour has taught me that playing with feeling is far more important than playing as fast as you can. And, even though he wants to do his own thing now, we will always have his lovely playing to listen to no matter what the band is called. I consider myself lucky.
When I hear David I hear Pink Floyd reincarnated to another dream state in my mind. It's just so extrodinary that David can still relate and cultivate the musical moment he created. And then there are times when I see him, his age, and I pause sometimes to think about this lifetime. I am very grateful for David and the rest of the contributors that made Pink Floyd's music what it is today.
Gilmour is the best ever...he looks like my uncle at this age, which gives it a little humor/irony (for me anyway). The best on this DVD is the Fat Old Sun solo...he tears it apart...plus makes every song he does look effortless!!!
This song puts me in such a great feeling. I REALLY feel like im on a beach at night with the woman of my dreams watching the stars and looking at the beauty of the earth. That is Gilmours greatest ability, to make you feel what the song and solo is about....i love it! Gilmour forever

*lights a ciggarette*
I was but a young teen when Dark Side Of The Moon came out...lots of us, globally, have grown up with them at the same time. What an honor.
Dave Gilmour is such a great player, and the sound that he gets out of his Strat is the perfect rock/blues sound. His solos always seem to contain the perfect notes too. Don't know how he does it!
I was thinking while watching this video how much more blues he gets into his playing than people like Gary Moore. Less pyrotechnics, more heart.
Isn't the other lead player Phil Manzanera, by the way?
It's simple really - he sticks to the pentatonic minor scale a LOT. The cool thing is he always uses the notes that are in the chord he's soloing over. It sounds just TOO good-or too Gilmour! I've been a lifelong fan of his and it's just so great to see him still being creative and expressive, yet totally being himself. They look like they're having so much fun. It really warms your heart after all the crap all those guys on that stage have been thru but it's the music that brings them together.
Well exactly. If you know a bit of music theory, you can analise it and it is all really simple; pentatonic minor mostly, lots of emphasis on notes in the chord.
But somehow, while a million other players can do that, he always makes it sound original, better and always emotionally satisfying. It's what separates instrumental technicians from musicians. Being able to create a musical phrase, not just a sequence of notes.
