Hey man this is some good shizzle on here i know a few obscure 70s folk bands that i didnt see on ur vids like ,Comus, Trees, Forest, Tudor Lodge, Spirogyra, theres alot more cool forgot folk bands but i cant think of the top of my head, you should check them out if ur into that stuff :D
I love Lucifer's Friend, May Blitz, Mellow Candle, Nektar, Night Sun and I had forgotten all about Poobah! It's great that you've made these vids! Thanks!
Thanks for uploading this, the kind of music I used to listen to in the '70's. I think a version of Nektar is still together. At least, they were still playing concerts until a few years ago.
where's video pt.4 ??? now that you whetted my appetite I WANT MORE OF THIS! Really great job, just looking kinda unfinished:i was waiting like mad for T2,Raw Material,Shotgun Ltd.,Warhorse, even my co-patriots Socrates drank the conium ( biased? surely.)....
What is the name of Poobah's song?I have Let Me In album (special edition 16 tracks) but the song at the end of the video is not on the album...plese tell me the name of the song!!!
We used to listen to WWWW-FM play complete albums on Friday nights in Detroit back in the early '70's. They played stuff no one had ever heard before. It was so great!
Great to rehear a lot of these classics, I know I have a few of them in my basement...
There are still alot of early 70's british psych bands to list, which you probably have, when I get round to it I will put together a comp or send you atleast the track listing...
lot of really cool bands but im really curios about the rest of the masters apprentices album could you maybe put the rest of the album and thanks for the list of music youve got there it really has opened me up to some new music
The music was great...the album covers kicked ass. LP covers were great for rolling doobs and were real works of art. I hate to sound like an old man, but the 70s hardrock kicked ass. RAP? Bullshit
Great to find that there is plent y of brillaint 70s rock out there... I dont like all of these bands, but there's still lots of bands here for me to check out further.
Oh and there are some bands today that sound as good as these 70s bands..check out Classic Rock magazine for new talent.
Oh my god!! I checked out 'Megaton'... they aren't all that original!! Niagara is a rip-off of 'whole lotta love' and 'Fairy Tale Song' is a blatant rip off of Alex Harvey's Hammer Song... Any other heavy rock historians catch this??
Your ears are very adept i would have to agree with you on that part. Some of the Megaton stuff kinda sounds a little bit like rip-offs but it's still a great album in comparisons.
@sirlordwhitman So what?! Every god damn band we have today resembles something else. You should just be glad, that there's plenty of great music from the 70's to listen to. Despite that I agree that their song sounds a whole lot like whole lotta love, but what difference does it make? It's still good.. :)
Just listening to this stuff leads me to believe that all music peaked in the 70s.. and it was downhill from there. It's hard to take any of today's bands seriously at all..
@sirlordwhitman There is lots of great music today. You just have to find it. The best bands are not played on top 40 stations. Radiohead, Bjork, Sufjan Stevens, Beach House, Music Tapes, Neutral Milk Hotel, and the Flaming Lips are very creative bands.
@sirlordwhitman Its probably because drugs (especially MJ and LSD) open the mind to new creative options. If you look at today's youth, they have been brainwashed against these things, which is why (in my opinion) you see the same canned music coming out of the next "pretty" person's mouth. Look at Neil Young or Joseph Allen McDonald (Country Joe). Or any of the late 60's singers... They were not to look at - they were to be heard.
@sirlordwhitman You listen to the wrong modern music then if you feel that way. There is an incredible amount of quality modern music, its just not at all popular. But it generally seems the best music came out in the 70s, yes, and i would generally attribute that to all the LSD that was being consumed late 60s early 70s.

All these prog and Hard rock albums pt 1 - 3 are reissued on both Lp and Cd. Checkout retailers on the net or specialist 70's rock shops.
