Chris used to do most of his keyboard work hiself in the early days although there were others I dont remember... in the 80's I was playing with a band out of Peterboro, England. called "The Motivators" I'm from Texas and was the only Yank in the band...we opened one night for a band called "Status Quo"...does anybody remeber them...or us???
I remember seeing Chris Rea in concert in Bristol, UK, sometime late 80's. There was just the keyboard player and Chris on 12 string guitar playing this song, and they alternated instruments for the solos. It went on for ever, and the crowd did not want him to leave.

Thanks - I read an article that he had released some material and had recovered as an alcoholic. Chris seemed to have a few long serving band members - my fave was the bassist Owen (mid 80`s), he was a cool dude!
Just a great version of a great song, Chris Rea, the man is awesome

Very strange the latest comments are from already 1 year?? Where is 2011!?!
Chris Rea must be in our hearts as ever... even from his greatest 80*ies!

This song is all about the apprentices graduating and becoming engineers, a passage marked by the issue of new overalls, midnightblue overalls

do you get all these Chris Rea videos.I'd really like to start a collection of my own.

Fantastic song and performance. This was all about a young man going out wearing a midnight blue suit.
