Everybody knows all the russian skiers are involved in doping one way or another. Its a totally different accept for cheating in the east-european countries, than it is here in Norway. If the all the cheaters were caught, Norway, Sweden and Germany would be dominating this sport
@crushni "Everybody knows all the russian skiers are involved in doping one way or another." Give me proof that Vylegzhanin or any Russian world cup skier racing today is doping. You say Germany would be dominating the sport and that German skiers are clean? You can easily google the Freiburg and Vienna medical laboratories and find that quite a few big name German and Austrian athletes were and still are doping, according to the lab reports. East European cheating? Who? Soviets? Sure.
@crushni To continue my previous comment. Care to mention others who were doping besides the Soviets? Care to name the skiers who you think are doping? If Vylegzhanin or Bauer or Legkov or Manificat or anyone else is doping or is suspected to be doping, what can we say about the people in front of them on the results sheet? Is Bjoergen doping, because she is winning every race she enters and doesn't look tired AT ALL or is she Jesus H. Christ? You are whiner and a homer. Grow up.
I love how the commentator had a d'oh, moment. He was so confident that Northug was gonna win this race, that as they came into the finish straight, he was already remarking how oh, here comes Northug, he is gonna outsprint/beat the Russians....oh no, wait, he isn't, Vylegzhaning beats Northug in a sprint finish for the first time!! LOL
var ikke bare sporet som avgjorde dette. richardsson hadde samme sporet og holdt dobbeldansen helt inn. spørs om northug brant for mye når han hentet inn russerne
Petter is probably faster than Vylegzhanin but he made his move too late.Vylegzhanin was smarter, stuck behind Legkov and being first into the final turn he was able to choose the better track. If Petter had been a bit more active, made his move earlier perhaps he could have taken the better track. Vylegzhanin tactically played his cards better than Petter.
Vylegzhanin was the best that day, both tactically and in terms of shape. Petter wasn't anywhere near his best shape, which in turn probably prevented him to move as early as he should have (compare this race to the Oslo VM 50 km race where he was always right behind the leaders): Petter has an amazing tactical sense and talent, but even these cannot completely make up for a not-so-optimal physical condition, especially with such a tough men's field these days
Had Petters track been better prepared I think he would have won. He even beat Vylegzhanin in CLASSIC individual start, he was like 10 m behind with 150 m left and still he won....Btw it's impossible to sprint in 2nd gear vs another skiier (Vylegzhanin) who is in 3rd gear.
Good to see Northug back. Great stuff to watch him claw back 100 yards in no time. STUD. As for the finish, if Northug wanted his choice of lanes, I suppose he could step up and take the lead once in a while. Sometimes sandbagging has its drawbacks.
I felt like smashing my tv to pieces when petter failed to beat Vylezhanin. Clearly Petter is not in top shape yet, he can do better than this. Not too suprising though that V. finally managed to win since he performed well at Liberec 2009 50 km. He nearly got past Northug at one point a few hundred meters from the finish line.
the cameras showed it, that track's snow looked just about the same as the middle one. plus look at him V1ing, watch the vid there's a swedish skier V2ing in the same track. excuses excuses, he was too tired to win this one.
The leader of the race from FIS said after the race that Northug´s track was not good enough prepared, and he took "selfcritism"(I do not now the correct word for what I meant, but hope you understand). So say what you want, but he had bader tracks. But Vylezhanin sprinted well
first time i see northug losing a sprint in a long race :D deep snow or not, if he would have gotten in front of the russian before the home straight he could have taken the better track, but he didn't. So, too bad.
@davd1986 he's actually in the track with deep snow, whilst Vylegzhanin has got the better one - that's the whole magic - you can clearly see it in the video, and he also complained about it after the race ... just wait for the next race! ;)
@FrantaKocourek Sure...whatever..I was just commenting on the commentator. He said 'where are you Petter Northug, when the two Russians attacked and made a gap. I don't care that he went into the deep snow! That's all part of racing. It's nobody elses problem, he made a mistake and was beaten fair and square, no need to make excuses!
@davd1986 well, having one good track and the other poorely prepared, especially in the finishing straight, really shouldn' t be a part of racing and should be somebody elses problem, cause it's far away from what you call fair and square ..
@FrantaKocourek If Vylegzhanin or Legkov or Cologna or Hellner had gone the same route, and Northug in the middle track, would you still complain? I don't know how the tracks were, I wasn't there. If that is the case, fine, but really, Northug then made the mistake of going to the outside. It wouldn't have been easy, but again, the Russians played it just about perfectly. He had to go the long way around. The Norwegians always complain if they don't win. Remember the Lillehammer relay?
@davd1986 that's exactly the reaction i expected :) yes, i would actually! the unfair conditions are no good for the winner as well in the end - how can one be fully satisfied with a victory whilst beeing aware of that his superiority wasn't prooved by this at all ...
@FrantaKocourek Northug wouldn't have deserved the victory, had he won. He didn't do jack shit in that race. Pretty much everyone who finished in the top 15 in that race did some work up front, except Northug and Gjerdalen. Soedergren, Eliassen, Dolidovitch, Legkov, Perl, Cologna, Rickardsson, Gaillard, Vylegzhanin, Sedov, Bauer, they all did their turns up front. Where was Northug? He was sandbagging and playing grab ass in the middle of the field again. Surprise, surprise.
@FrantaKocourek I don't really think it's fair for everyone else to do work and a guy just takes advantage at the end. It doesn't matter to me if he wins the next 200 races he enters, his tactics are cowardly. Imagine you are doing a project in school, you are in a group of 4-6 students, and each of you has a task or part he/she needs to do. One of the students does very little to contribute. Eventually another member takes the task, and the group ends up with a good grade as does the student.
@davd1986 Your analogy makes no sense. Here the student gets 2nd place, and many times first place, following the same strategy. Keyword - strategy and tactics. Very important in ski racing as in bicycle racing - think of the Tour de France. It may not matter to you if he wins 200 races - well, that's a good thing you are not the coach, and your opinion really doesn't matter ;)
@comsunjava Neither does yours, we are just fans, right? Another thing, I don't care much for Cycling these days. Too many dopers and too much corruption within the governing bodies of that sport!
