  • I have one question sir

the sega saturn model 1 has a different power supply line; you have to connect a power supply cable to the motherboard. I was wondering if you are allowed to solder the botton of the motherboard that connects to the pins(power supply), instead of soldering on the top like you did for ground and +5.

thank you and your vids arew helpful :)

  • @superwawa - Hey mate, soldering to the bottom of the board is fine - just make sure you've got the right pin/voltage with a multimeter and your away :)

  • this tutorial is great, that was an amazing job :)

  • Thanks for the tuto. very well explained. One doubt: my console is a mk-80000 model, and the jumpers in the motherboard matches those listed in the two last pics from the "Common Jumper Locations" session in your site, but the motherboard has no SW4, it's just a blank area there. Is there a way to use this mod? i had even assembled the pic board, and writren the program in the pic.

  • @Shoometsu - Hey there - SW4 is for the 50/60hz mod, and its common not to have it, have another look at my website, theres another couple of pics there show what to do if you don't have the SW4 :) Cheers!

  • @TheDamoMonster Thanks! installed here and the mod is working perfectly. I just changed the region order (1 - usa; 2-jap; 3-eur) and the led colors (1-green, 2-red; 3-orange), before wrting the program in the PIC. this is an awesome mod, I always wanted something without switches and which unlocks those three regions in my saturn :D

  • @Shoometsu - Awesome mate - its a wicked mod aye :) Enjoy dude!!

  • You say that your tutorial wasn't in depth but I thought it was very detailed indeed and awesome. A great tutorial from start to finish and to see it working fine at the end was the icing on the cake. I have a question about the LED. It was hard to tell in the video when the LED was Red and Orange. Is the colour difference more noticeable when you look at it through the naked eye? I heard you can solder an additional resistor to make the colour difference greater. Thanks again, great tutorial.

  • @DLiberator78 - Hey thanks for the kind words mate :) In person, the LEDs colours are much more noticeable, but your also quite right - it is possible to add some extra resistors to make it more defined :)

  • @TheDamoMonster You're welcome mate, this is a top tutorial and I am sure many people (including myself) will find this tutorial useful. Cheers.

  • I have a question about the LED used for this mod in this video. Is it a: Dual Color Led 5mm Green & Red COMMON ANODE 3PIN or is it a 3mm? Cheers.

  • @DLiberator78 - Hey man, you can use a 3mm or a 5mm as you glue a new one in.. I think this vid uses a 3mm, but the factory one is a 5mm :) Cheers!

  • @TheDamoMonster Thanks for the info and for confirming the factory supplied LED is 5mm. Cheers.

  • Awesome mod, hard to believe it can actually be done but I see it with my own eyes so it can! I was wondering if one would be able to upgrade the processor for faster load times and better graphics?

  • @Hardak9 - Cheers mate.. Yes it is a really cool mod man.. Unfortunatly CPU upgrades aren't really an option for the Saturn, its architecture is very advanced for its time! Have a read on the wiki about the Saturn, you'll be surprised what sort of hardware is acutally in there :) Cheers!

  • Haha at the sega rally box. I remember the frustration when I was a kid of those stupid european boxes not holding the discs. It's funny the games got super scratched but still work to this day.

  • @NeilTheDruid - Cheers mate.. the PAL boxes where hopeless were they lol..

  • Awesome Job DemoMonster! Love it. I do all my Saturns with a switch but its nice to see how these the switch-less are done.

  • @TheGreenMonkeyKing - Cheers mate.. Acutally getting the PIC's and programming them is just about easier here than finding the right switch lol..

  • WOw very nice end results matey!

  • @markvergeer - Cheers dude!

  • i wonder who invented and came up with all this mods...they really had a very strong understanding of the sega motherboards..maybe the engineers at sega who designed these board are the ones who gave a way this mods..who knows

  • @xTHExSTIGx - Hey dude.. I put the 3D model of the board with the wire your working on highlighted throughout the vid, but if you would like a wiring diagram you can just print out, send me a message and I'll sort one for ya :) Cheers dude!

  • not sure my skills are upto this but i been meaning to mod my model 2 with simple switches as my switched model 1 is currently tempermental, this is tempting though as it leaves it looking original and un modded on the outside and is the ultimate saturn to have :D Great job as always DamoMonster, i'm glad there is someone is producing highly informative vids on these things :)

  • @RallyDon82 - Hey there, this mod requires a little more than most, but if you decide to have a go at it, and need any help, please just get in touch :) Cheers dude!

  • Awesomness :)! This is gonna be fun to do! I`m really stoacked about the 60Hz mod but i guess if i do the whole job right now it`ll save time and work! Think my MK1 saturn is broken! It powers on but in the sec the lens is gonna start reading it crashes and can`t turn it on for a couple minutes! Laser unit is shorted?? Gotta gett inside and see:( ! Bloody impressive production mate! Rendering a 3D model of the board is an awesome help :)! Cheers mate :)!

    You rock!

  • @shock25sr - Cheers mate, glad ya liked it... Hmm.. That Saturn doesn't sound to healthy my friend.. let me know what you find :) Cheers dude!

  • thansk for this. really helpfull

  • @oxxor77 - No problem mate, if you have a go at this then feel free to get in touch if you need help on anything :)

  • *orgasms* what a climax my friend :D

  • @therealAgerbon - lol, legend mate!! Cheers dude!!
