I dont think this album is AHEAD OF ITS TIME in any sense. on contrary, only in 1994 a white group could made a album rockin hip hop tunes, and very raw hip hop tunes, these cuts are just amazing. later on, white mainstream artists never dared to accepts such a raw form as Prodigy and Portishead used to during mid 90s.

They both still are experimenting, the prodigy implemented a live band aspect to their group instead of relying on the DJ. Portishead dont have any creative boundaries so they're always experimenting, their latest album shows this.
