  • there is no coalition, there is if they form 1 party, but they refuse to do so. 3 partys cannot form a govt. It's kinda sad. Harpers govt has never had a chance, they get ambushed by every party (if you don't give us this, we won't suppport the budget) I can hardly wait till he forms a majority, and tells them to all fuckoff, cause this is the way it is.

  • @ALPHADOG3 If he does that, Harper would not only be a hypocrite (see 2004 coalition) but he's be a dictator.

Harper had plenty of chances -- the opposition gave him a free ride for too long -- but he decided to be a corrupt power tripper.

  • @ALPHADOG3 Don't be betting to much on your majority, in fact I think the CONs will be say good bye instead!

  • Stil want a coalition with DION.

  • a lot of liberal party voters are centrists who would never vote for the NDP and both the Liberals and the NDP promised voters they would not form a coalition just weeks before they did. It is true they have 62% of the vote but many of those liberal mps did not and do not want to form a coalition with the NDP so the 62% figure is very misleading.

  • The coalition was a power grab attempt made by 3 people who knew that it was their only shot at actually gaining power: Dion, Layton, and Duceppe. Thank god this coalition monster was never brought to life.

  • @koshovey What do you think of Harper trying the exact same thing -- with the same players -- in 2004?

  • I didn't realize that by voting NDP I would be contributing to the illusion of a "62% majority." I did not vote for Mr. Dion's power grab or a sepratist agenda. I have lost so much respect for the NDP. It is like they would sell their souls for a little power. I know I'm just one person of many, but I feel like they went behind my back and betrayed my vote. I'll vote Conservative next time unless there is a change. We don't need a poorly organized power stuggle during a recession.

  • @FoxTreatment The Bloc had nothing to do with this coalition, and for your information coalitions are totally legitimate in a Parliamentary democracy.

In fact, Harper tried the exact same thing -- with the Bloc as more active players.

  • @BoredomCorner They needed the support of the Bloc because they did not have enough elected representatives. Type something like "Dion Layton Duceppe" into the search bar and look at the videos. I acknowledged that it is part of our democracy, but I feel there is an ethics issue if a coalition does not involve the winner. I will not defend Stephen Harper for his attempt. I stand by my beliefs. I am pleased with NDP at the moment, and I doubt a coalition will happen in the near future.

  • @BoredomCorner Haha, on second thought, don't type that into the search engine. That video is weird...lol. But, just look up Duceppe's role in the coaltion.

  • Canadians are more brainwashed thant he americans and that is saying alot

  • 62% you dumb asses, google cbc election results, and you will find that 74% did not vote liberals, and 82% did not vote NDP. I am so disappointed in my fellow Canadians for making me point this out.

  • I voted for the Liberal party, but if I had to choose between the Conservatives and Liberal-led coalition including the NDP and Bloc, I would have voted Conservative for sure.

  • I want some one to tell me why Canada is a common wealth of England? I thought you were a country on your own.

  • the new liberal leader is ignatieff, is that any better that harper. even ignatieff supported the war in iraq and sanctions torture.

  • ...and don't forget 'targeted assassinations'

  • Do these people even know why they want a coalition? Do they know the argument for it? Why the other parties want power? All I can think of is:

    1) They didn't vote Conservative.

I would like to think all parliamentarians are mature, reasonable people who listen and argue with each other in the House. A stimulus package is coming. What's the issue?

  • Coalition governments are a part of parliamentary structures and are very democratic. If you still cannot grasp this, turn off your American Idol and go sign-out some books at your local library.

  • You dumb asses brain washed by the NWO idiots.

  • This group, at least in part, says that there was a 38% vote for Harper and 62% for "the rest of us." "The rest of us" apparently includes 10% of the popular vote that went to the Bloc Quebecois. How many of the "rest of us" would side with a party that advocates the breakup of the country? Further facts:

74% did not vote for Dion, 81% did not vote for Layton, 90% did not vote for Duceppe, and 93% did not vote for May. Dion isn't welcomed as leader of his own party, not to mention the country.

  • I was wondering if you can articulate for me just why you voted for Harper.

I figure you fall into one of three categories:

    1) You have an upper-middle class income, and see the other parties as wanting to take from you what you believe you are entitled to.

    2) You are working class, but are to ignorant to understand that a vote for harper is a vote against your self-interest.

    3) You are a member of the christian taliban.

The second category pisses me off the most...

  • I see you had to point this out to, and they gave you a negative thumbs. What is the world coming to? Canadians Are getting so stupid. WTF
