People need to get over thinking that these reginal airlines are no good, and they themselves are super human and will go on and work for American or United or something and make $250,000 a year. Those days are gone. Every airline pays low when you start out, even majors. I think people are forgetting the dream of flying and are more interested in who earns 20K higher then someone else. Dreams will only get you so far, then reality sets in.

Cool video. I'm 18 working on my PPL and I got hired by Skywest right after my bday as an SFO CS agent. Its great, I love working around the aircraft, take pictures on the ramp everyday, and use the hell out of my flight bennifits. When the shortage comes around a few years down the road, hopefully Skywest has a right seat for me.

Might not want to get an aviation degree, get a normal degree then you have a fall back, airlines don't require aviation degrees just a college degree, airline industry is cyclical If you get laid off you have no fall back. I'm getting ready to go to college soon, and most of the airline pilots said get a normal degree with flight training thats the way to go. But thats just my input, just thought I would let you know.

I can tell you that if you are going to spend that amount of money on your flight training, go to ATP. That's a much better bang for your buck. DCA will NOT get you hired at Delta or any DCI carrier for that matter.

Depends on what your definition of "senior" is. I know people who are 5-6 year captains who make over $70K/year. Regional salaries aren't that bad once you get off of first year FO pay. I get tired of all of the whining from regional guys. As if careers outside of aviation all magically pay so much more. I know guys who left, thinking just that, and make less than they would ne now, if they had stayed at their airline.

YOu do not need to go to an aviation college. In fact, your better off if you don't. The major airlines will take you with any BS degree, many regionals don't even require an associates. What is needed is for you to meet the minimum flight times and training. Get your degree in business or something you can use in case of furloughs/layoffs. An Aviation degree won't help when your laid off with 3-5k other guys.

Hey man, I am 15 and a half, I also do the flight sim. things! pay attention in math class, its helps ALOT, I didnt think so until I got complex add ons for flight sim and you have to do math for fuel and all that.
