@DGF627 Get Off and Freakin's Fine were my BUSTING OUT jams back in the day when CUTTING UP with LOCKING and STRUTTING. Hot Number was another one! Thanks for the memories.
Ooops, the remixer seems to have forgotten to fade the guitar and did it in a hurry at 4:09. I even noticed this as a kid when the guitar part would only play that first note. When I listendd with headphones, I could hear it fading out. Back then I did not know how that was being done. Great song. I have it on my Best Disco In Town CD set. Glad I never got rid of it.
Pure genius. Thank you Foxy. I was in West L.A.in '78. This cut ruled the airways. You guys are not one hit wonders. Like I said b4, PURE GENIUS!!!!!!!! Thx again Foxy.
pinching girls butts at the sock-hop...thats ALL i can remember. If kids did that crap today, the cops would be called, somebody would get arrested, and everybody will sue the school system! Times have changed for sure. I like my 70's - the memories are better!
thanks to my girlfriends sister (at that time)THIS THE SONG THAT GOT ME WANTING TO ENJOY DANCING! its AWESOME! I can STILL feel the need to get on the floor !!!
I recall when I first heard this song in late summer of 1978 in Cali at a family get together. Some of my older female cousins and their friends were practicing to this song for a up coming cheerleading contest. A few of my older male cousins who are P-Funk fanatics, all came rushing to the back yard when "Get Off" was playing, and were like "Damn!! What group made this funky ass jam?!!! Lol!! Memories and good times of course.
Groovy Philly soul & early disco were the best dance experiences ever! Wasn't THAT a time?! 1978 saw hundreds of great disco tunes...looking back, i think that '78-'79 was THE year for disco...u could prob'ly buy sumthing dif'rent each day of the year & STILL not have it all! really, really soulful memories, 'back in the day."
The best house party backyard jam ever!!!!! Takes me back, you can't even have a party like those anymore here in Detroit. You will have a chalk body print in the middle of the party these days. Thank s for the memories
@Dollenaful Thats not entirely true, I'm from Detroit and my family gets together every summer at belle isle without any violence or trouble. this and the parliaments is all we grove too! I'm 21, this isn't even my generation of music but I still have it all on my I-pod lol
This was the FREAK cut back in 78!! OMG in DC we use to sandwich chicks and when I say freak, we was touching everything lol Now, yo azz would get the taste slapped outta ya mouth LOL
Firstly, I am so glad to be the first to comment on this, my coming of age song. I was 12 years old. I remember my parents disco dancing to this, and I was right there with them. Every time I hear this song it takes me back to a special place and time. As we get older memories such as this becomes more and more precious. Thanks for the music and all the love and great times that came from that era.
Yeah, I agree with you MrMusiclover66, this song takes me back also to fun family house parties and get togethers. I was 10 years old in 1978, I would be bold enough to say from 1976 up until 1982 was a golden era for really good dance music that you really could "DANCE" too back in the day, that's just my opinion. Anyway peace.
