I love Sara a whole lot, and she had the guts to know that she most likely would be compared to Regina's version with Ben, and did it anyway ... and obviously had fun in the process. Nonetheless, NO ONE can compare to Regina. Her innocence and playfulness is so natural, and her New York (Bronx) / Russian Jewish accent is just perfect for this (and frankly whatever she does). Not complaining. Just sayin.

It's kind of like each person put their own spin on it, which almost made it a different song every time...subtle differences make it a wonderful and universal song that a LOT of people can relate to.

Geez, with all the dissing of Sara by Regina fans I decided to listen to Regina's version, expecting to be totally blown away (I do like Regina) and....NOTHING. Totally underwhelmed. If my eyes were closed I would have thought it was some average amateur. The ends of her phrases just stop--no resonance whatsoever. I realize the song is a spoken/sung hybrid, but still! Sara's is vocally richer.

Again, no disrespect to Regina, but she hardly 'owns' this song, so get over yourselves Regina fans!

i'm not trying to call you out, but just in general because it's weird so many people have been saying the same thing on this video. sara isn't trying to be regina. my guess is she was just in LA while ben folds was there, she came on stage, he let her sing and this was the part she sang. it was awesome to have her there as a surprise guest, the crowd loved it even if she's not regina. she was just having fun.

Regina Spektor has a very unique style of singing so replacing her is quite impossible. Nevertheless, I think Sara Bareilles is a very talented singer and does a good job by doing her own thing here instead of trying to copy Regina.

I think the song is definitely a "Ben-style" song almost a "Zak and Sara" a few years later. Other than "Samson" and maybe "Summer in the City," Regina does not generally go for dissecting relationships in song. (Even "Folding Chair" and "Fidelity" are less direct than Ben usually is, as he is in this song.)

I find both Ben and Regina to be indispensable but in different ways. Having them together was---I knew this even before I heard the song--- as great as it can get.
