Robotech and Macross both have their own merits. And faults. Robotech as an example doesn't stay true to the source material. But in my opinion that is for the better. Macross bases it's story around the ability to sing ends wars with hostile aliens. A silly plot if ever I heard one.

i just laugh at ppl that put down robotech , though i do prefer the original macross , carl macek made it possible for those in the US to have first exposure to anime even though shows like starblazers and battle of the planets were out there it wasnt widely distributed , carl did a great job of distributing robotech all over the country. it got alot of ppl to look for other anime and even find the original series .i dont know without robotech if that would be the case ,
