  • Thanks for the video, though. Very helpful!

  • The first equation helped me with a math problem I was doing, but the other two don't. :/

  • Apologies if this was already asked, but in the last problem, last step, you had:

    x = ln(6) / [ln(4/5) + ln(6)]

    wouldn't the two (ln6)s cancel? leaving x = 1/ln(4/5)?

Also, thanks for posting all these videos, they're definitely helping even though I still get confused occasionally.

  • I don't understand where you got -3 from? I can follow the rest except for that :(

  • oh my gawsh... I LOVE YOU.

  • Are you a mathematician?

  • @DudeUForgotAmmo no, although i did have one paper published!

  • Thank you for helping me study for a math test tomorrow!

  • You've just helped me realize that I actually really love math.

  • @GabGabGabberz that is a good thing : )

  • Thanks so much! I really appreciate you being there when my math teacher isn't. :)

  • Hey man, thanks for this video! I totally get this!

  • ln? im a sophmore whats that??

  • @rishielen07 ln is the natural log. helpful if you have a TI-83 calculator or better.

  • i think you're really good at explaining o.o

i just understood everything you said i cant believe this woah

  • If your parents were not both drug addicts like mine when you were young and kept you from a decent home life as a child therefore allowing you to establish an educational base in your formative years I suggest you go and bow to your parents and thank them both for not being fuck ups. This stuff makes me want to jump off a balcony, very saddened.

  • @MrCapeVerde sorry for a fucked up upbringing - i knew more than a couple people with shit for parents who turned out ok though, but things were much harder for them for sure. hope you hang in there.

  • @patrickJMT The amount of work required to pass intermediate algebra in college is mind boggling! Yeah I know, you took it in like the first grade right? It brings tears to my eyes. Four credits of hell.

  • @MrCapeVerde the amount of work to understand intermediate algebra is rewarding. i had to take it a couple of times to let the material sink in. i'm glad that i did, because it built a strong foundation when i took calculus. once the math clicks in your head, you'll enjoy the material a lot more. that goes to any subject once you understand it. and i agree, it takes a lot of time, but it's worth the "eureka!" moment. :)

  • at the end of question 3, could u cancel out the "ln"?

  • for the 3rd problem, does it matter if you use log instead of ln?

  • @bryfryable didnt rewatch but my guess is: no

  • @bryfryable yes, you could use a common log also

  • 3:51 hmm. seems simple.

    6:29 aww hell.

  • What if it was (6x+7)ln2

Could you multiply the 6x by the ln2? Because in the video you kept the x's seperate from the ln so I'm just wondering if there was a number before the x, if you can then multiply it by ln or keep it seperate.?

  • You just saved me a ton of headache. Thank You

  • great video thank you so much for the help

  • Thank you for making these videos available and simple enough for people who have been cursed with less than average math teachers!

You have awesome handwriting to be left-handed, by the way! :D

  • thanks buddy this realy helps even though i have no idea what a log realy is at least i know how to navigate around these kind of equations now. cheers =)

  • does it matter in you use the natural log or just log base 10?

  • My initials are JMT... cool

  • you saved my life.

  • i love you

  • @superbubbleman * hugs superbubbleman *

  • god i hate math

  • @zhir96 i am not god, and neither do i care that you hate math

  • YOU ROCK DUDE!

  • i'm watching this to study for my UCSC math placement test, and your vids are helping me A LOT! :)

  • HELP ME! 11^3x-1=15000 ??????????!!!!!!!!!!

  • You're better than my university professor.

  • log base 8 of15 = x [ logarithm law ]. Is this correct too?

  • aww dayumm i was trying so hard too look at all my notes and math books and pick up some kind of idea of how to do this one problem. i watch this video and i can do the problem right away. THANKYOU!

  • final exam tmmrw. thank you!!

  • 7^(1+2x)=5^(4x)

    please someone help me:S

  • Before this video, I had no idea what the "ln" thing was, but after watching this, I fully understand it. Thank you SO much!

  • ha for once a video has 0 dislikes

  • @djwestbrook36 now someone will put one there just out of spite ; )

  • @djwestbrook36 there goes 1

  • Holy crap I've been sitting here trying to do a math problem for 1hr. I watched this and finished it in 5 seconds. Thank you Patrick! Subscribed!

  • @theninjadang my pleasure : )

  • Much appreciated =D

  • how do you know which way ti subtract

  • omg lefty!!!!! yeah lefty's rule :)

  • these kinds of videos save our lives

you can never be sure how many lives u save each day

each view has its own story

  • For saving my grade in AP Calculus, I give you a sub and a like for the video. Thank you for helping me from getting my head ripped off by my Korean mother.

  • @profminki ha, she justs wants you to do well and succeed

  • thank you so much.

i couldn't find how to do the last example anywhere on the internet or my textbook. you just saved me hours of frustration!

  • Thank You :)

  • you just save my life!! thank you!

  • at 3:22 what "ln" is mean? i think logarithmus right?

  • @TheMrpilz Ln++ln means natural logarithm

  • @kosec321

thanks :) i wrote a test 2 days after i comment this video. this video helps! (:

  • @TheMrpilz i really does, it also helped me at my test :D

  • hi there!! its me spongebob! (LOL)

Thank you for posting these great videos!

    Keep it up!

  • hi sir

your method of teaching is fantastac and with patient, The only thing i suggest you please don't skip some step during writing because in this lesson i followed log and exponential very well but unfortunitly I was lost near to the end where you skiped 14 to divid etc without mentioning. for new learner it is hard to understand unless to see everything step by step. After all appreciat your hard work. In deed your help in website is a charity for those who wants to learn

  • @abdulyoutub tell that to the people who were complaining yesterday cause i go too slow.

  • @patrickJMT Ignore them, you're amazing.

  • Your last example saved my life, I was looking everywhere for an explanation for that type of equation. Thank you!

  • is this algebra 2?

  • @PeaceLoveChelita93 no, this is like precalculus i think

  • @MrMig3 yeah its precal and i believe its also in collge algebra

  • I hate logarithms... :(
