Gee Morris has such a superb voice! I recently converted my tape of their album to cd and play the album constantly. A damn good album through and through!
I remember my older brother listerning to this in the car many years ago with his firends, me just about 14, I just came across this and it took me back. Wicked.
I remember my older brother listerning to this in the car many years ago with his firends, me just about 14, I just came across this and it took me back. Wicked.
Innocence actually released 2 albums. The second was not as good as the first but had some good songs on it. Definitely worth a listen to if u can track it down...
@micljnes As a matter of fact (no pun intended!), this song is from 1990 and only 20 years old. My parents used to have this album on vinyl. Very ambient/experimental, one of those transitional phases between decades, one of which I suppose we're in now.
Got this on 12inch and others(slient voice etc) from innocence, great albums, got them on cd and on ipod!! still never get tired of it!!(dark room, headphones on chilllllin!)
I'm really jealous of you the person that has this video. It took me years to track this 12" down, and this is my first time seeing the video. Thanks for the upload.
Inspirational, uplifting, classical with an essence of elegance, A true Nubian sister crossing time and ages, music for a royal class while the people watch in ore.
at the beginning of chillout-downtempo originating in western Europe early-90s
this downtempo style continues strong today wow after 20yrs, e.g.
Air (FR)
Röyksopp (NO)
Single Gun Theory (AU)
BT (US)
tracks like NaturalThing and the continuing popularity of downtempo are a major reason why vinyl never died-out, now musicians release original edits and several remixes on vinyl
I have this CD, but it's all scratched up now and I want to get it again. I also have ths song on vinyl with the original mix and the elevation mix. The entire CD is tight to death, but it's out of print, so you have to get it on Amazon.
How terrible that this group never released another album!!! It's such an enjoyable listen--great, wonderful tempo throughout. I hadn't seen this video before, and was amused to see that it features a lot of water, because the whole Innocence album has such a fluid, dreamy quality!
Thanks so much for the info; I had no idea. I rely on "allmusicguide" as my definitive reference source and they don't list a second album. I've done searches on Amazon, ebay, etc., before in the hopes of discovering a follow-up album, but without knowing what I was looking for in terms of a title it was impossible to ever find any more info. "Innocence" as a band name is totally generic and always yields a gazillion search results even when you add in key words like "CD" etc.
Another question, Bus--is Anna Jolley related to Steve Jolley of Jolley/Swain (the British production team most famous for working with Bananarama, Louise Goffin, etc)? Innocence's sound is reminiscent of the chill, dreamy grooves found on those earlier Bananarama recordings. Bananarama seems to be overly associated with SAW, but the real foundation of their overall sound is Swain/Jolley.
you can contactt me on my email mins_chauhan@yahoo.co.uk if you have a copy of this track please.
