  • great Video Awesome Al Stewart song!

  • Looks like early Top Gun training video.

The first aggressor aircraft for the Top Gun program was the F-8 crusader.

Crusader pilots were the only pilots (in the entire US inventory) that officially still practiced ACM during the 1960s.

Also, San Diego was home to the majority of the F-8s

  • @ironroad18

May well have been, but the clips used here came from "No Points for Second Place" (Grumman film ca. early 70's)

    Thanks for stopping by!

  • why do dey need oxigen masks?

  • There's less oxygen at higher altitudes. As long as moving way too fast for the oxygen to stay where it can be breathed. Pretty much like when you open the window in the car and feel that all the wind doesn't let you breathe.

  • Awesome video!

  • Haha, I didn't know the song was on here.

  • What's the plane near the end, before the Tomcat? I think it looks sort of like a Thunderchief.

  • It is the RF-8 Crusader that was in the 1v1 with the Phantom.
