i'm new to this show i just recently discovered it on tatsunoko vs. capcom and i like it but they seem to be obsessed with uranium btw does anyone know where to watch all episodes since youtube isnt reliable for watching full episodes
No, No. This is a dubbed version that was done for the DVDs. Basically, ADV, a company based in America, got license to release the entire Gatchaman series (105 episodes). They sold the DVDs giving fans the option to play/watch the shows in subtitled form (i.e., in original Japanese dialog) or in English.
The shows we saw as kids, in the late 70s-Early 80s used Casey Kasem; that version was Battle of The Planets. TBS did a version, in which they called it G-Force. This is the ADV version.
The entire series is called Kagaku Ninjatai Gatchaman, the original Japanese title. Battle of the Planets, G-Force, Eagle Riders, all of those other titles were American dubs of Gatchaman's different seasons. It's all the same series.
Wanna see a really good job on engish translation on anime? watch Fruits Basket. Even the song is translated and performed just as the japanese version. Funimation is one of the rare licencing companies that seem to care about what fans think.
I wonder if that's because many hardcore anime fans don't like English dubs. My daughter is one of those. She'd rather listen to the original dialog and follow the subtitles. I've had a couple of requests to upload the Japanese version, but I only did one. I may do more when this version is done.
I wouldn't say ALL english dubs. Some are actually very good. However, some companies upset fans when they don't keep the original music, translate it accurately, and/or have the VAs deliver their lines poorly.
I wonder why they do that... using subs just clearly more cheaper than hiring so many VA to dub their anime too. Its must because they want to AMERICAN-nized any anime they licensed that ruined the anime then....they want to change the name, places, even story too... its totally lame since instead of doing that why they don't try to make a TRUE AMERICAN cartoon then to satisfy their desire instead of altering Japs product ?
IMO, It's about money. Many companies in the US don't wanna spend the dollars to do something as decent as the Anime shows we all have watched over the years. not becuase they can't, many artists are just as good as those from Japan. The problem is the Companies probably feel it's not worth the risk of putting butloads of money into a cartoon that may not generate huge revenue in the end. Plus, many companies use animators from Korea or Jpan nayway because it's cheaper.

I've noticed that lately most dubbing companies haven't dubbed any anime from the 70s or 80s.
