They should put both Combats system so you can choice instead, cuz i hated the Fast combat and i like 2 play through game slowly and reused areas everytime was quite lame and i quit the game =) and hope they make the story better cuz was meehh and and they should PUT BACK OLD DARK SPAWN! =)
why do people care if the warden didn't speak ? I didn't care i liked it that way =)
I hope that Bioware would add the warden's again or a new character for Dragon Age 3 and agree withe DragonAge Wiki that I didn't like the Hawke character but the story behind it was decent enough to play through.
I loved the warden. Basically though...I just want to be able to choose my race, beginning area, and everything like that. If I am a character already made...it wouldn't be the same game to me.
Seriously, the warden never spoke, and was way to ambiguous from a big picture kind of view of the world of Dragon Age. I think they should make a new character but ultimately like in part 1 live it up to you to choose its race/sex and appearance. Based on your race and gender perhaps have a different beginning. Hell make it extra special a let people pick where they are from, such as Orlai, Fereldin, The Free Marches, Tevinter, Pol Vollen and so on.
I think the game will survive well enough so long as they stick to some basics. If Character creation suddenly goes out the window, I guarantee there will be backlash of the worst kind.
I think that both should come back soon. Also I would LOVE ♥ it if some of our old companions come back. Oooooh or new really hot characters come in!! :)
i was dissapointed with hawke but each story in a way had to do with one another they all link at some point if they scurry it to much i will be disapointed
I agree with BigBuddha2012. Being able to choose your own race and origin story while still following a specific story line was the best. I really hope that you will be able to change your companion's armor as in Origins, but I would really like to see the battle style from Dragon Age II in the third game. I would have liked to see either the Warden or Hawke (both meeting would have been even better) but I can understand that they want to have a new protagonist for each game. Dragon Age forever!
Hey, the Warden might be dead. Sure, you may say 'Coreypheus!' but still. The Warden might have died, Morrigan might have no baby. I know one of my Dalish was ready to commit suicide on her own, so she did it for the greater good. And Hawke... well, a bit more likely, but who knows. I like the fresh start, since it means another new hero to love and cherish and develop!
naa i think they shuld leave the warden and hawk alone but i think dey shuld connect the games according wat u do like dey did in awaking for DA... But on a much huger scale come on BIOWARE DA put ya BaLLZ DoWN...ME3!!!!!!!
Hawke was better than the Warden, zero personality and wasn't even voiced, also would people please stop referring to either the Warden or Hawke as A 'He' as that is NOT the official gender, neither of them are, completely Player selected, much like the choice of the race of the Warden,
You ever thought that there is a reason they're moving from one PC to another? Maybe its part of the overall story? Why would they listen the players when most of the players know absolute shit about games in the first place? All companies should be like Bioware, make games THEY want to play.
I like the fresh start but I expect to find out what happen with the warden and Hawke and why they both disappeared. I am just trying to enjoy what is given to me instead of complain so much. My main issue was their lack of creativity and I will just come out and say it, laziness, when it came to producing the dungeons, caves, and other places you went for quest. It really was disconnecting for me to realize that I was in the same area for one quest that I was in for another. Come on now.
I think you whine a lot. Hawke was a good character, The Warden was a good character, and I'm sure this new character will be good too, if they add a new hero to the mix, it just means they have a grand plan in mind. Bioware wouldn't let us down in those kind of matters, EA could though, like they did with DA2, when they said to get it on the market sooner and thus putting too much prssure on bioware. SO, if you are to complain about anything at all, than... COMPLAIN ABOUT EA!!!
I have all the dragon age games and i was very disappointed in Dragon Age 2 i didn't like hawke and i also didn't like the way they set up the talking or the combat and Alistair wasn't in it as much as i would have liked [yes i am a Big Alistair Fan] but Dragon Age Origins Is My Most Favorite Game Ever Because of the way its all set up if they made it brought back with the wardens were you are able to continue your character's story from origins that's what they should do for dragon Age 3
I put off purchasing DA 2 because of the fact that I couldn't play it as the warden from DA 1. After giving in and buying DA 2 (2 months ago), I really did actually enjoy the game. Now i'm disappointed again that in DA 3 yet again another new player.. ugh Bioware! Either way I'm excited for DA 3 but it had better be good.. geesh I wish Bioware would listen to the players, even just a little blah
I don't mind playing a new character... but I miss Zevran XD Having new party members every time is sad... because you miss the old ones. Nice to see new ones, but if they don't match up you'll always be wanting the old ones. Need DA2's more interactive combat with DAO's awesome. DO NOT HAVE CONVO WHEEL. Bring back coercion (or persuasion). Make Dog a party member again, OR make him/her not take up an actual party slot but be JUST LIKE A PARTY MEMBER. Make race, class, specialties, etc, matter.
Personally, I don't mind playing a new character for every game. It sucks if, like me, you base the character off of yourself & what you would do. I tend to be attached to my character. For the sake of the story, I think it's a good idea, & keeps interest in the story. One person who saves everyone everywhere all the time is something that's been done by most franchises. If they gave us the option to play our old characters or create new ones, that would be better, but this a minor thing.
Honestly what is their problem in mass effect they kept the same protagonist for THREE games, why couldn't they do the same for dragon age, stupid if you tell me.
I think that yes, the wardens return, Hawke joins wardens, and is a general or somthing, but you can import your character from origins as the leader, and you play as a new warden serving your character.
i personally didnt like being stuck as Hawke and agree being stuck in one city was a downer too i think that it it wont be so bad if they introduce someone new as long as you can play as a completely custom character like in Awakening you could be some completely new if you wanted or continue with your origanal. One thing i know for sure they better tie it back into everything better than in DA2 that was sad it felt like a diffrent game with just similar bits which disappointed me tremendously.
I do like the idea of a new character. After all it's not the chronicles of Kirkwall or the Lay of Ferelden. New faces keep the game open to much more possibilities.
the DA serious has gone downhil from the begining. origins was amazing. my favorite video game of all time EVER. awakening, nit that great, but it gave me more time to spend with my character. DA2 was awful. it was a disgrace. i was so excited and i have never been more let down in a video game
I cant imagine why you wouldnt enjoy Hawkes character. It was a very good character the choices between character personalities were exstreamly clear it was awesome all together. Yes of course i didnt like being stuck in the same city THE ENTIRE GAME but over all i felt the game in and of itself was amazing the Qunari were cool varric was awesome not to mention Fenris and Isabela i loved DA2 as well as DAO and DAA
Do you think its time for the Wardens' child? Flemeth will make her move. We will see Sandal and Bodan too. Shall it hapen in Orlais?
I think Hawke was not as good as the Warden bcause he was just the champion of kirkwall, but the Warden saved the world from the Blight, his destiny was much bigger than hawkes. If the new heroe is his child he will be a reincarnated Old God, that ll be too great. what d yu think?
@BruceWindu New char can't be the morrigan child, 1. the choice to fuck morrigan is optional, what if you didn't fuck morrigan, there would be no char in DA3 so it has to be someone else. 2. dragon age 3 would have to take place about, hmmm lets see, 7 years in kirkwall in DA2 would put the child at 7, so DA3 would have to be at least 10 years after DA2. 3. in witch hunt, Morrigan says the child is a "he" so the game would have to force you to be male, i hope he's a companion though
I like the idea of a new character with every game. I think the old ones should make appearances in them, but it should be more of a "what are they up to now." thing. If I'm not mistaken, I think that it was Bioware's idea to show that there were different things occurring around the world simultaneously. Hawke and the warden finished their quests. I like the idea of going to different parts of the world and seeing how other characters dealt with the Darkspawn.
It doesn't really matter that they are switching to new characters, i actually approve it.
But the good thing about the warden was so much origins to chose from. Really hoping that they are going to change the combat system, DA2 was button spamming
Doesn't surprise me much that there bailing on yet another character. You get far with the character, you love the character, and then they end up missing, probably like Alistair, without there pants.
My guess is all the protagonists thus far and to come are probably tied up in some peculiar fate. Which will lead to another, new protagonist to complete that fate and bring in a new age.
Or something.
At least, that was the impression DA2's ending gave me.
what the hell did this guy fuckin think of course they're not gonna bring them back. 1. because the fans are going to expect the warden exactly how remember them, the graphics were improved so you would've had to basically pull a goddamn saints row and remake their warden
Hawke was alright, and the warden was meant to be the main character. Bioware should just make the darkspawn the main threat, go deeper into Flemeth's fate, get the warden and Hawke in the game with big roles, bring back all the companions who survived the events of both the games, and Bioware should listen to their fans for once. (side note on features DA3: they should add in guns to use, but make them rare to find or see someone using one)
I am seriously bummed that neither of the PC's that I invested time into in the first two games are going to be back - the Warden at least got some kind of 'ending' in the first game, but with DA2 mage sympathizing Hawke had just fled the smoking remnants of the tower - as well as the game opening up questions about the fate of the Warden. ... No, seriously Bioware, what's going on with that?
I wish they made dragon age 2 something like you can import your character from dragon age 1 and continue with the character you have built ether elf, dwarf or human it would be so much better as well as keeping the upgrade style like dragon age origins. im a bit not sure about this dragon age 3 that is coming but i really think it could be a let down since they are not paying attention to there buyers and fans.
@HEVIPOINT Impossible, the game starts off near the Beginning of the Dragon Age Origins story line. The family ran away from Ostagar and Lothering, which are taken over in the first 1 hour of gameplay. Lastly Flemeth wouldnt let the Warden Smuggle her to Kirkwall because Flemeth is fleeing to Kirkwall because she knows the Wardens going to kill her.
DAorigins had the epic story plotline perfect main character AND F-ING DARKSPAWN as the villans and a solid likeable cast
the problems that were attended to in DA2 was the battle system's speed & structure also the branching of abilites & having to just find herbs or items one time to be able to craft it thruout the game but having the main character speak kinda kills the he/she is me vibe but obvious dialouge choices were a nice touch so was side character dialogue
About fucking time...... Jesus. They should just create an entirely new world with different races and different conflicts. Fuck the grey wardens, fuck morrigan, fuck allistair, leave them to their own great game. Don't give them shitty cameos that only tarnish the first game. By the looks of the trailers I'm pretty sure that the game is going to such though. They're even bringing back the same old templar vs mages theme. It was only interesting in the first game, really.
Honestly I won't miss Hawke. It was interesting seeing the DA:O saga from the view of the refugee-made-good, but after investing SO MUCH time and effort into my Warden I want to see her again. Bioware should ALLOW US THE CHOICE to play our Warden or a new PC as they did with Awakening. The Wardens aren't just one-trick ponies that go back on the shelf after a Blight. They're a neutral faction that could help stabilize the current war torn nations. Don't waste that potential!
@heatherwind i completely agree 100%, the only thing i liked more about DA2 was the brother/sister companion other than that DA:O was 1000X better, hey how 'bout i send my gamertag and we talk more about similar games such as Starwars KOTOR or Mass Effect?
in a way I am disappointed that I will not soon be seeing the conclusion of the Hawke storyline or a continuation of the Warden
However, I feel that changing the POV is somewhat essential to keeping the new games unique rather than just saying, "Look! Another archdemon over there!" they are choosing to broaden their scope.
However, the first game was so successful it is hard for them to match it with new characters
I think they're doing exactly what they should be with the DA games. They've created a big setting, and they're exploring it in sections with each game. We've seen Ferelden, we've seen the Free Marches. Bring on Orlais, Tevinter proper, or Antiva. As for the protagonist thing, I welcome a new protagonist with each game. I realize it's a trope people expect out of fantasy, and DA does deliver it to some extent, but having one character involved in everything can be strained and gets boring.
@Bavalt The protagonist in each DA game is someone that is in the center of important events, and has a huge influence on things: where they are. They can't be everywhere though, and there's plenty of room for other people like that too. I think it's admirable that Bioware is partially avoiding Main Character Syndrome, and doing so allows them to bring the story to all sorts of locations, where the influence of the other protagonists is present, but in the background.
I personally want them to bring back different playable races for the main character. Maybe even introduce Qunari as a playable race. Could be Tal-Vashoth or maybe like that one in DAII who left the Qun AND his former fellow Tal-Vashoth to find his own way. And I want to see Tevinter. Oh, and I hope they redesign elves again. I liked that there were actually physical differences between humans and elves in DAII, but I didn't care for the elves' final design.
As long as it allows you to choose what you say and create your character as like in the first one maybe a bit more options, then all is good in the world for me lol
@HitMeUpOnMyCellPhone Yeah,at first the gameplay & the graphics will annoy you though the story, your control over what happens, the many different races, endings, maps It's just amazing! If you can't stand the game at first don't worry, you'll get used to it...prehaps even addicted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS Don't watch vidsabout DA:O cause it will SERIOUSLY ruin the experience.
A Warden! I am a lady gamer (and gay) and I played as such. I loved how Bioware was able to give options for characters and sexuality in Origins and II. I love the dynamic of being a Warden. I actually felt pride representing the Wardens. I think the 3rd one should not continue after 2 but 5 years after Origins. I want my War Hound! And more sexy sex. I want Morigan, Alister, Isabella and Lilliana. More dragons. More dark spawn/human breeds that are playable.
I WANT A NEW WARDEN :D <3 AND THE ROMANCE MUST BE AWESOME!!! :D <3<3<3<3 I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!! xD I kinda hope the next game will be kinda like Origins with MORE possibilities and origin stories, and that the story will unfold in ORLAIS!! :O That would be AWESOME!! I mean, Sandal was going to Orlais, and the story MUST follow him! HE IS AWESOME xD
they are building up a group for a future game witch is a great idea if u ask me instead of just ending a story line after a game have the games combine to create an epic climax
maker... i'm cyring.. why don't they just put on a voice to warden instead of making a complete new protagonist. whyyyyy omg whyyyyyy :::::::::::::::::::::::(
I'm happy with the new character. I hope they keep the dialogue options that they had in DA2 but it would be nice to have a character like the Warden to truly call your own again. Thedas is SO big so I hope they give us a character from outside of Ferelden. I for one really want to see Orlais and the Tevinter Imperium.
Between Hawke and Warden? I'd rather have the warden make a return even if we won't be able to hear his voice. Between Hawke, Warden, and new guy? That depends on the new guy/gal; but preferably not Hawke, whilst he and I had a few shining moments, I didn't like spending longg periods of time playing as him.
Maybe you should stop breathing down their necks for everything. Yeah, the Warden was awesome because we could customize him/her but that doesn't mean they can't create another PC that is just as good. For all we know, they could be creating a character that combines the best of both. Personally, I'm going to wait and see what they have in store.
I don't think the Warden can be brought back. Even if he/she survived Origins, and did not marry Anora/Alister, how much more character development can they undergo? What story would be a huge life-changer for a character who has already defeated the archdemon? And there's the question of levelling too - the warden has already become so strong, what enemy would be a real challenge? Therefore, I believe DA3 must have a new PC. I just hope it's as good as the Warden, not lame like Hawke.
they need all three together a new one and then the warden is his mentor and hawke stumbles across and their all caught in this battle and the quinari should be a playable character so should the dwarf the elf and the human and the blight5 should come back and some how the new guy should find a griffion and the game has to revolve around him bringing back the griifions to fight the archdemon as the days of old!
Hmm, if I had a choice in the matter, I'd say let Hawke and the Warden come back in to Dragon Age III. Its kind of annoying to start with a whole new character and basically scrap the other two great ones you have.
my thoughts are as long as they don't butcher another side character (like they did with Anders) i don't really care who the main protagonist is.
seriously, what the hell, Anders went from a cool rebel super mage to a wining little dick cheese with super powers. also Anders was the one character in awakening that wasn't really annoying or completely useless
The problem with the Warden is he doesn't have too much time left to live, i mean by the start of DA3 he could have already died from the taint, he is too much of a if to be the protagonist.
The Warden is gone, not matter your opinion, in any playthrough the Warden is gone, missing or presumed dead. Hawk is alive, and by far a better character.Playable or character wise. Hawke had greatness thrust upon him/her, through no doing of their own, and had to take a stand for what he/she believed in.Hawke had a larger choice to make in the up coming war. For it is war that is the greatest threat to Thedas, and will tear the world asunder in D.A.3 Did NONE of you play the DLC's for Origins?
@catedipome Greatness was thrust upon the warden aswell he didnt aspire to one day save ferelden from the darkspawn it just happend and he had to make a stand no matter what origin you played it happend and by you declaring that hawke is a better character than the warden without stating that this was your opinion is like you are speaking on behalf of all the gamers who love the dragon age series which makes you sound like a complete and utter moron. (Tis just my opinion)
@Laurealoth i agree COMPLEATLY they should make a game with that story line. What happens next do Alistair and the Female warden try to and successfully have an Heir. or will she not be able to concive a child? Of course im just naming what i played through in my origins there are many different ones i just named one.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! i want my warden back. Hawk didnt care for though i think they should remake DAO since DA2 had awsome graphics. I want Alistair in there. i at least want to see my Alistair and empress celine talking or just have the wardens with him thats all i ask. Is that to Fuckin much to ask, huh?
@DragonAgeGirl12 the warden is supposed to have died or gone missing. I think in this one they will allow you to create a new character. One with backgrounds that you can choose etc.
Why does everyone want to be Morrigans son? Wasn't the purpose of having the origin stories in dragon age origins to make the character YOU want to be? If they don't put origin stories in dragon age 3 then at least make the character anonymous so that we can use our imagination to decide what happened before the events of the game.
I'm happy there isnt a Warden..DAO had SOO many different endings that it would be weird if you played as him/her again..Thats what i liked about Hawke, his ending was he lived and left. PERIOD. there wasnt, he had/might of had a child. he possibly went into a magical mirror, he died in the final battle..like theres too many different endings to make a good game involving Warden.
@1amRy4n first of all all the players would have import their alive warden(even if he is dead his place take the orlesian warden from awakening ) and if the bioware developers want to put the warden in the 3rd which i guess they will in soem way because the core fans want it and many others the different endings wont be a problem actually its more fun to have complex character which you are bond
@polor89 ye i completely agree, i would liek to see my Warden cuz of the character bond and stuff, but i still think DAO was so complex that it would be extremely difficult to put the Warden into a new DA. I hope they find a way to do it though :)
Meh, I just want to play as the son of the warden when I boned morrigan. And I want to see some unique skills not the same things, like that tearing into the veil that bioware had in DA2 for that whole 2 seconds, and never seeing it again, despite it being the coolest thing in the trailer.
@673497 Well derp, its one of the most epic back stories. Or would you rather just be some dumb ass that is cast away from home, blah blah blah and unoriginal bull. Oh wait I guess you would, you mindless brainwashed sheep.
@lithuanian12 ohhohoho is it? or is it only your imagination boy/gurl?? because I haven't heard anything like that from Bioware.
and so a pimp tries to throw at me ingnorant opinions. ahh internet really suck of people these days doesn't it? ahh it always did. give a human a keyboard, an internet connection and a computer,and they can become the most disgusting ill mannered people :}
@673497 Said the man who can be quoted saying "...shits about the child make me want to vomit." I said it would be great, you attacked it and now call me an ill mannered person? Oh you caught me, yes my unoriginal mind wants to have a connection to a character of earlier games so I can feel more immersion with him/her. Yes yes lets just go and make another bland character with no connection with Hawke or the warden except the fact that maybe they passed him on the street or so on.
both games had pros and cons the thing I liked about origins was the detailed storyline and how places never looked the same, DA2 on the other hand you could fight faster and the characters were more detailed, as for the warden and Hawke I think they are two badass characters
Dragon age origins is probably the best game done yet out of the franchise, the story was more intriguing and the plots/romances etc are amazing, everything was much more more detailed in dragon age origins than it was in dragon age 2, i miss the warden and wish you could carry on with her/his story, because in some cases at the end of dragon age origins your character may have become queen/king and it would be interesting to continue the story as the queen or king of ferelden.
The Dragon Age story was ruined by Dragon Age 2. Dragon Age 2 was a fine story on it's own, but it retroactively trivialized everything you did in Dragon Age Origins. I liked Dragon Age 2, but it should have been a spinoff story, not a sequel. DA2 should have followed the Warden, and whatever happened with Morrigan, as well as the political unrest in Orzammar, Denerim, the Circle, and with the Elves.
At least Mass Effect hasn't suffered the same way in the story department, and Sheppard rules.
Hmm... A new Character... Well. I'm sort of the type to be open about this type of thing and It would be pretty cool to see the Warden and Hawk in the next game, but I don't know. I think it'll take a while to put the characters we made in the game. YOu know what I mean? And you're right. They should listen to their audience. Just put in what would appeal to them in the game or just do a fresh start. Or maybe go back to what made the first DA game good but with better combat. (Pet Peeve)
I think DA 3 will have something to do with Sandal and what he keeps talking about. I reckon he'll be the first dwarven Mage or something like that, and usher in a new age where magic is a gift/curse to everyone. Ushering an age of unity and peace, but also terrible amounts of conflict. As for the protagonist, I think he/she should have all the customisation of DA:O but the moves and voiced actions of DA 2.
All they have to do is have on male and one female actor right?
Understand that there are several reasons why it would be difficult for BW to bring Hawke or the Warden into DA3.
Because of the level of freedom they have given us as far as our characters go, if we were to ever encounter our old characters they would have to pick a race, sex, and class for the Warden and sex, class and attitude (good, sarcastic, evil) for Hawke.
Mix this with the relationships you chose for your characters and the fact that the Warden can DIE and you SHOULD understand.
I liked the openness of the warden...not the confines of being somebody who already exists with a name...but like in ME series...it makes dialogue issues easier.
I think they should return but as background characters that play an important role in the developing storyline for DA3, i wouldnt like to go back to the Warden and/or The Champion
it just wouldn't feel right with the way they are developing the story
hawke was there for origins, awakening and da2 if he goes in da3 it might over do it so have a new story line based with another caracter for about 2 games and get hawke and sed new character together on the 5th to have a big boom of epicness
Wat they shud do is make a new character that is just as epic as thr warden but make it so that u can have the. Whole customization with races/spescialities.. I think they.will.most likly use the two games as a timeline in thr next.game as where it.is going if this new character is eipc then hopefully everyone will like him/her ane then they will stick.with.it... A game im just saying has.done this well i think is.saints row...
sorry guys the warden cant come back. Not only might he be dead (depending on the type of ending you had) but he could have been 3 different races. if he does show up he/she will most likely be a voiceless person who will stand in the background and do much of nothing.
@Hobo101xxx umm actually, if u did the witch hunt DLC (SPOILER ALERT, PLS DONT READ ON IF U DONT WANNA KNOW MEGA SPOILER!!) then the warden ends up going to a different dimension thing with morrigan and his son.
they nees 2 bring both them back because at the end of DA2 u find out that the nightengales r searching 4 hawke and the warden to restore peice to the chantry an the world
They can't really bring back the Warden into the game series due to the fact that not everyone will have decided to have the Warden save himself by impregnating Morrigan. My warden played the martyr and died killing the arch-demon, and as such there'd be no way to import him into a later game.
Leliana appears in both and seems to indicates in DA2 that there is some sort of "bigger picture" to the story line that we don't see yet. Maybe that story couldn't be told properly without playing different characters. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. :)
I guess, if I'm honest, I'm mostly disappointed because I will miss Alistair and Fenris. *sigh* But I do agree with niagarabub, if you want an epic story with a single character, play Mass Effect. And wouldn't we be giving Bioware just as much crap for not being creative if Dragon Age were exactly like Mass Effect, just a different story and characters? Bethesda seems to be successful with this sort of set up with the Elder Scroll series. Different character, land and story. *shrugs*
There's nothing wrong with a new character every game. It allows the game to start fresh. That way you can start on any of the 3 and then go back. Yes, I know the imports will be fucked up but hey, you can just replay the game.
If you want an epic story following the quests of a single character through three different games, play mass effect. If not enjoy Dragon age for what it is, a completely different universe and game style.
I really wish it would continue on Hawke.. 'cause the DA2 story was quite short and I don't feel like I've had enough with this chararacter, as I do have with my warden character. Perhaps I'll feel different if they release some DA2 dlcs...I just feel the need to play along with Hawke for some more time
I'm glad they decided on making a new PC for every game. It gives a different view of the separate parts of Thedas during the Dragon Age, and how the century developed as a whole. It keeps it fresh and exciting.
I'll miss Hawke. But I'm hopeful that Dragon Age 3 will be just as epic as DA2 was. Lot of peoplw disliked it because it was a radical departure, but I loved it. Especially the characters and the setting and the story. Hawke's friends and rivals make up some of my favorite characters in Bioware history. Kirkwall was an epic city being torn at the seams within and without. And the story really made me happy because you made it. It was YOUR adventure. YOU MAKE IT.
I love to play as a Warden and I don't really like Hawke because he/she just doesn't feel like your character. I've also read in some comments that Dragon Age series are not about Warden, Hawke, etc. but about Thedas. That's not really a good answer, as to why Bioware keeps changing the protagonist. It doesn't matter if the main character is Warden or Hawke the game is still about Thedas and the changes that happens there.
im going to by the next game im a bit of a virgin) with xbox360 and pc but these where my first games the romance is quite intense in DA2 and more dramatic cuz im a girl i love it!! i was so upset not to see the warden bit of a stuff up if that continue with diff charaters but in saying as a newbie i enjoy there games <3
wtf bioware stop making new people and leaving the old ones hanging. apparently morrigans son is supposed to be big in the 3rd.Well I told her to stuff her deal to have a baby cause I hate her and rather have my warden die.
wtf no the warden should not be able to come back because this would be nonsense for those who let their warden die at the end of the story line and hawke was a cool character but didnt have the epic adventure that the warden had so: lets start with a new character !
Personally I think it might be a good idea at trying to keep the story somewhat fresh, and that you are not as limited in that way or bogged down with being forever in the same character's story getting stale. Though it might be interesting to interact at a later point with these characters from the Previous editions of the game and how they have lived with the decisions that you made from the other games. Besides with how Dragon Age Origin ends it might make sense not to have the Warden, as...
Forgot to say it is a saga it has always planned to be I think all games are leading to a massive climax so maybe they want to expand the amount of characters for the final game. We found out in DA2 something happened the Warden, I think DA3 will tell us more about the warden and hawke
I want the Warden to return and his son/daughter im interested in what has become of morrigan, the son and the warden because they had a great involvement in DA 1 also i want to see Leliana return cause of her message at DA2 endi. Bioware do have a point with this different protagonist each game because it gives more to grow on theres only so much you can do with one character however Hawke sucked, I want a character I can customize to my liking Hawke was so limited still liked his story tho
I really hope that the Warden and Hawke are companions if nothing else, but I was really hoping to see them again and if they aren't in the new game at all I will be severely disappointed.

RandomYeti 3 days ago
I loved the warden. Basically though...I just want to be able to choose my race, beginning area, and everything like that. If I am a character already made...it wouldn't be the same game to me.
VickyVicVicx 4 days ago
If you want to stick with one character throughout the trilogy play mass effect.
Narusakuchats 4 days ago

Dragon Age forever!

full credit to bioware for having new mains for the DA series. the warden and hawkes story have already been told.

MrTechnova 2 weeks ago

BruceWindu 3 weeks ago
@BruceWindu New char can't be the morrigan child, 1. the choice to fuck morrigan is optional, what if you didn't fuck morrigan, there would be no char in DA3 so it has to be someone else. 2. dragon age 3 would have to take place about, hmmm lets see, 7 years in kirkwall in DA2 would put the child at 7, so DA3 would have to be at least 10 years after DA2. 3. in witch hunt, Morrigan says the child is a "he" so the game would have to force you to be male, i hope he's a companion though
JGPiner 3 weeks ago
I like the idea of a new character with every game. I think the old ones should make appearances in them, but it should be more of a "what are they up to now." thing. If I'm not mistaken, I think that it was Bioware's idea to show that there were different things occurring around the world simultaneously. Hawke and the warden finished their quests. I like the idea of going to different parts of the world and seeing how other characters dealt with the Darkspawn.
Darwinwuzright 3 weeks ago
It doesn't really matter that they are switching to new characters, i actually approve it.
But the good thing about the warden was so much origins to chose from. Really hoping that they are going to change the combat system, DA2 was button spamming

Doesn't surprise me much that there bailing on yet another character. You get far with the character, you love the character, and then they end up missing, probably like Alistair, without there pants.
XLilyCloud1X 3 weeks ago
My guess is all the protagonists thus far and to come are probably tied up in some peculiar fate. Which will lead to another, new protagonist to complete that fate and bring in a new age.
Or something.
At least, that was the impression DA2's ending gave me.

MAR3K024 3 weeks ago

FaintlyAlarming 3 weeks ago
I wish they made dragon age 2 something like you can import your character from dragon age 1 and continue with the character you have built ether elf, dwarf or human it would be so much better as well as keeping the upgrade style like dragon age origins. im a bit not sure about this dragon age 3 that is coming but i really think it could be a let down since they are not paying attention to there buyers and fans.
HEVIPOINT 4 weeks ago
@HEVIPOINT Impossible, the game starts off near the Beginning of the Dragon Age Origins story line. The family ran away from Ostagar and Lothering, which are taken over in the first 1 hour of gameplay. Lastly Flemeth wouldnt let the Warden Smuggle her to Kirkwall because Flemeth is fleeing to Kirkwall because she knows the Wardens going to kill her.

DAorigins had the epic story plotline perfect main character AND F-ING DARKSPAWN as the villans and a solid likeable cast
the problems that were attended to in DA2 was the battle system's speed & structure also the branching of abilites & having to just find herbs or items one time to be able to craft it thruout the game but having the main character speak kinda kills the he/she is me vibe but obvious dialouge choices were a nice touch so was side character dialogue
vinny8589 1 month ago
About fucking time...... Jesus. They should just create an entirely new world with different races and different conflicts. Fuck the grey wardens, fuck morrigan, fuck allistair, leave them to their own great game. Don't give them shitty cameos that only tarnish the first game. By the looks of the trailers I'm pretty sure that the game is going to such though. They're even bringing back the same old templar vs mages theme. It was only interesting in the first game, really.
wiseman152439 1 month ago
Honestly I won't miss Hawke. It was interesting seeing the DA:O saga from the view of the refugee-made-good, but after investing SO MUCH time and effort into my Warden I want to see her again. Bioware should ALLOW US THE CHOICE to play our Warden or a new PC as they did with Awakening. The Wardens aren't just one-trick ponies that go back on the shelf after a Blight. They're a neutral faction that could help stabilize the current war torn nations. Don't waste that potential!
heatherwind 1 month ago
@heatherwind i completely agree 100%, the only thing i liked more about DA2 was the brother/sister companion other than that DA:O was 1000X better, hey how 'bout i send my gamertag and we talk more about similar games such as Starwars KOTOR or Mass Effect?
Coughranbranden 3 weeks ago
in a way I am disappointed that I will not soon be seeing the conclusion of the Hawke storyline or a continuation of the Warden
However, I feel that changing the POV is somewhat essential to keeping the new games unique rather than just saying, "Look! Another archdemon over there!" they are choosing to broaden their scope.
However, the first game was so successful it is hard for them to match it with new characters
danman14125 1 month ago
I think they're doing exactly what they should be with the DA games. They've created a big setting, and they're exploring it in sections with each game. We've seen Ferelden, we've seen the Free Marches. Bring on Orlais, Tevinter proper, or Antiva. As for the protagonist thing, I welcome a new protagonist with each game. I realize it's a trope people expect out of fantasy, and DA does deliver it to some extent, but having one character involved in everything can be strained and gets boring.
Bavalt 1 month ago
@Bavalt The protagonist in each DA game is someone that is in the center of important events, and has a huge influence on things: where they are. They can't be everywhere though, and there's plenty of room for other people like that too. I think it's admirable that Bioware is partially avoiding Main Character Syndrome, and doing so allows them to bring the story to all sorts of locations, where the influence of the other protagonists is present, but in the background.
Bavalt 1 month ago
I personally want them to bring back different playable races for the main character. Maybe even introduce Qunari as a playable race. Could be Tal-Vashoth or maybe like that one in DAII who left the Qun AND his former fellow Tal-Vashoth to find his own way. And I want to see Tevinter. Oh, and I hope they redesign elves again. I liked that there were actually physical differences between humans and elves in DAII, but I didn't care for the elves' final design.

I actually felt pride representing the Wardens. I think the 3rd one should not continue after 2 but 5 years after Origins. I want my War Hound! And more sexy sex. Between Hawke and Warden? I'd rather have the warden make a return even if we won't be able to hear his voice. Between Hawke, Warden, and new guy? Maybe you should stop breathing down their necks for everything. Yeah, the Warden was awesome because we could customize him/her but that doesn't mean they can't create another PC that is just as good. I just hope it's as good as the Warden, not lame like Hawke.

my thoughts are as long as they don't butcher another side character (like they did with Anders) i don't really care who the main protagonist is.

I want the Warden back and Hawke, not no darn new pc! Also the story needs to be like Origins and not like DA 2.

When I first played DA2 I was so disapionted when I found out you dont become a warden but I like the new fighting style.
FAiLcaMel2023 1 month ago
bullshit
not because of hawke because of the warden, totally agree
they should just build it off of the original and it should have nothing to do with da2 imho.
OmnipotentSquid 1 month ago
I think they should return but as background characters that play an important role in the developing storyline for DA3, i wouldnt like to go back to the Warden and/or The Champion
it just wouldn't feel right with the way they are developing the story
theirishnation2k10 1 month ago
Hopefully the warden and morrigan's son/daughter is the new player character for DA3
WeaponXSigma 1 month ago
hawke was there for origins, awakening and da2 if he goes in da3 it might over do it so have a new story line based with another caracter for about 2 games and get hawke and sed new character together on the 5th to have a big boom of epicness
ganandork1234 1 month ago
Wat they shud do is make a new character that is just as epic as thr warden but make it so that u can have the. Whole customization with races/spescialities.. I think they.will.most likly use the two games as a timeline in thr next.game as where it.is going if this new character is eipc then hopefully everyone will like him/her ane then they will stick.with.it... A game im just saying has.done this well i think is.saints row...

Level of Character Coolness
1.) Warden
2.) Origins Characters
3.) DA 2 characters
4.) Hawke
There are a few exceptions who should be ranked higher, such as varrick and the enchantment boy, but few others.
OneFourtyOneDA 1 month ago
sorry guys the warden cant come back. Not only might he be dead (depending on the type of ending you had) but he could have been 3 different races. if he does show up he/she will most likely be a voiceless person who will stand in the background and do much of nothing.
Hobo101xxx 1 month ago
@Hobo101xxx
Not necessarily, EA has been letting you transfer over your warden into the DLC no matter if he/she lived or died. They may just have you do that.
InsertTaters 1 month ago
@Hobo101xxx umm actually, if u did the witch hunt DLC (SPOILER ALERT, PLS DONT READ ON IF U DONT WANNA KNOW MEGA SPOILER!!) then the warden ends up going to a different dimension thing with morrigan and his son.
gheita12 1 month ago
they nees 2 bring both them back because at the end of DA2 u find out that the nightengales r searching 4 hawke and the warden to restore peice to the chantry an the world
sk8a328 2 months ago
They can't really bring back the Warden into the game series due to the fact that not everyone will have decided to have the Warden save himself by impregnating Morrigan. My warden played the martyr and died killing the arch-demon, and as such there'd be no way to import him into a later game.

Leliana appears in both and seems to indicates in DA2 that there is some sort of "bigger picture" to the story line that we don't see yet. Maybe that story couldn't be told properly without playing different characters. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. :)
RMag07 2 months ago
I guess, if I'm honest, I'm mostly disappointed because I will miss Alistair and Fenris. *sigh* But I do agree with niagarabub, if you want an epic story with a single character, play Mass Effect. And wouldn't we be giving Bioware just as much crap for not being creative if Dragon Age were exactly like Mass Effect, just a different story and characters? Bethesda seems to be successful with this sort of set up with the Elder Scroll series. Different character, land and story. *shrugs*
RMag07 2 months ago
There's nothing wrong with a new character every game. It allows the game to start fresh. That way you can start on any of the 3 and then go back. Yes, I know the imports will be fucked up but hey, you can just replay the game.
Erickwhatever 2 months ago
If you want an epic story following the quests of a single character through three different games, play mass effect. If not enjoy Dragon age for what it is, a completely different universe and game style.
niagarabub 2 months ago
the warden and morrigan should return but this time everything should be focused on the child they had
elVALENCIA1000 2 months ago
I really wish it would continue on Hawke.. 'cause the DA2 story was quite short and I don't feel like I've had enough with this chararacter, as I do have with my warden character. Perhaps I'll feel different if they release some DA2 dlcs...I just feel the need to play along with Hawke for some more time
HeartsMendSlowly 2 months ago
I'm glad they decided on making a new PC for every game. It gives a different view of the separate parts of Thedas during the Dragon Age, and how the century developed as a whole. It keeps it fresh and exciting.
TheLastHellian 2 months ago
This is so goddamn embarassing.
Jesus Christ Bioware get your shit together.
I loved Origins, but 2 was enough to convince me to never touch another Dragon Age game with a 10 ft. pole.
Felsphar 2 months ago
I'll miss Hawke. But I'm hopeful that Dragon Age 3 will be just as epic as DA2 was. Lot of peoplw disliked it because it was a radical departure, but I loved it. Especially the characters and the setting and the story. Hawke's friends and rivals make up some of my favorite characters in Bioware history. Kirkwall was an epic city being torn at the seams within and without. And the story really made me happy because you made it. It was YOUR adventure. YOU MAKE IT.
Shine on Bioware. Forget haters.
blazinghen 2 months ago
I love to play as a Warden and I don't really like Hawke because he/she just doesn't feel like your character. I've also read in some comments that Dragon Age series are not about Warden, Hawke, etc. but about Thedas. That's not really a good answer, as to why Bioware keeps changing the protagonist. It doesn't matter if the main character is Warden or Hawke the game is still about Thedas and the changes that happens there.

wtf bioware stop making new people and leaving the old ones hanging. apparently morrigans son is supposed to be big in the 3rd.Well I told her to stuff her deal to have a baby cause I hate her and rather have my warden die.

I think Hawke should return. I like Hawke. He/She is like a Shepard to me. Its huge disappointement! And again I can scream "DAMN You Bioware!"

How Varric would've said: "Well, Shit."

wtf no the warden should not be able to come back because this would be nonsense for those who let their warden die at the end of the story line and hawke was a cool character but didnt have the epic adventure that the warden had so: lets start with a new character !

We should start with a new character. But as long as we have different types of races in character customisation like elf dwarf qunari and human.
Randomize2510 2 months ago
Personally I think it might be a good idea at trying to keep the story somewhat fresh, and that you are not as limited in that way or bogged down with being forever in the same character's story getting stale. Though it might be interesting to interact at a later point with these characters from the Previous editions of the game and how they have lived with the decisions that you made from the other games. Besides with how Dragon Age Origin ends it might make sense not to have the Warden, as...

as I had a friend who had his Warden die at the end of his storyline for the first game.

Forgot to say it is a saga it has always planned to be I think all games are leading to a massive climax so maybe they want to expand the amount of characters for the final game. We found out in DA2 something happened the Warden, I think DA3 will tell us more about the warden and hawke
waygameplay 2 months ago
I want the Warden to return and his son/daughter im interested in what has become of morrigan, the son and the warden because they had a great involvement in DA 1 also i want to see Leliana return cause of her message at DA2 endi. Bioware do have a point with this different protagonist each game because it gives more to grow on theres only so much you can do with one character however Hawke sucked, I want a character I can customize to my liking Hawke was so limited still liked his story tho

I'm so excited for dragon age "free"

I really hope that the Warden and Hawke are companions if nothing else, but I was really hoping to see them again and if they aren't in the new game at all I will be severely disappointed.
