  • It's crazy that they do this 24/7

  • @kromeda @daughterofra

As you have both mentioned, the unknowns cannot be outranked by sentinels therefore the sentinels do not wear any rank markings, however as kromeda pointed out there is the catch 22 that the unknowns are congressional medal of honor recipients therefore cannot be outranked, so my question is; why not have the sentinels wear their respective ranks within the guard, not their true army ranks since as i mentioned they cannot outrank a CMH recipient. Thank You.

  • @chcknhawk @leafboii11b @daughterofra

Many thanks for your replies to my question. Take care and god bless.

  • An amazing video, watching the changing of the guard is a real honor, even though I have to watch it here online. I have a few questions which I hope anyone can answer, most of these questions have answers in the comments section but none that are concise and easy to understand, so without delay, my questions:

    1. In regards to sunglasses, are they issued for a certain rank only such as guard commander?

    2. In regards to rank, regardless of any rank, is only three chevrons ever worn?

    Thank You

  • @rgp2130 1) They are issued to all guards. I'm not sure if there is a policy about WHEN they can wear, but there is no rank restriction.

    2) No, there are different ranks depending upon who is on guard and that Soldier's rank.

  • @rgp2130 if ur talking about that sergeant.'s rank then yes he is an E-5 (Sergeants) so thats 3 cheverons. as u go up in ranks it changes. like an E-6 (Staff Sergeant) will have three chevrons and one rocker on the bottom and so on as you increase in ranks. Hope that answer ur question

  • @rgp2130 In response to your second question. The sentinels do not wear any markings of their rank so as not to be above the rank of the Unknowns. The men and women who conduct the ceremony can be of any rank, but once they go on guard duty, they give up their rank.

  • i heard a little kid ran up to the tomb and the guard pointed his rifle at her/him

  • @Godsjudgement12 lmfao

  • @Godsjudgement12 - Then you heard wrong. They do not point their weapon at anyone, much less a child.

  • @MajorAudieMurphy then id assume the weapon isnt loaded or maybe blanks, but what happens when theres someone screwing around and messes with the ceremony in some way?

  • @Godsjudgement12 The guards will give them a warning (depending on what they are doing they will instruct the person to not step over the rail, or to be quiet.) They issue this warning for everyone no matter the age. People have also been removed from the ceremony due to bad behavior.

  • In the 1960s & before, the guards were not allowed to wear sunglasses, & I saw the Sergeant tear a pair off a guard's face.

  • i just dont understand why these doods have to act like robots.. i mean they actually march around looking like the fucking real life robocop lol

  • @8MistaKaos9 You don't understand...because your honor, respect and dignity. In otherwords...you're one of the ones who probably wanders around all day like a real life liberal hippie drug addict.

  • @8MistaKaos9 You don't understand because you're a slob who sits around in your parents basement all the time, drinking gallons of YooHoo and eating Sour Cream'n Onion Ruffles while on the computer. You've never done anything, aren't going to do anything and don't understand what respect is, nor honor, nor the sacrifice that soldiers give so that you, the free slob, can live as you please...in your underwear, playing video games in your parents basement and sponging off them.

  • @NeilLB7 LOL omg your still bitching at a comment i made 10 months ago.. and Ooo you have such a funny imagination i think that's yourself your writing about cause your a little to descriptive there boy.. I bet you i could fuck your mom on the same night i met her if I wanted to.. And nah il never understand or honor the military your just there dog they throw you in battle and once you get killed or mangled they got another 1000 brainwashed dogs all lined up and ready to go and for what?

  • @8MistaKaos9 Or you're just stupid?

  • @8MistaKaos9 Yes they are thrown into a war, but (minus one war in the US history) all soldiers have to sign up. They are willing to risk their lives and health to protect the rights of this country. If you don't like their sacrifice then move to Antarctica where you can be in charge of protecting yourself.

  • @8MistaKaos9 Ask any veteran about military discipline & bearing.

  • Line six!

  • very gud quality!!! BUT where is the rest!!!! PLEASE put it up if you have it!!! Thank you for this

  • I havn't ever heard of this before ... I was just looking at all the videos you posted and saw it.

Why does this spot have to be gaurded all the time?

  • It's symbolic that even though they are unknown, we have not forgotten them. We guard over their memory until they can be identified as well as all other missing in action Soldiers.

  • Oh... just wondering.

  • Wait i thought you could not out rank the unknowns

  • Guards can't out of respect. This guy is an Assistant Relief Commander, not a guard.

  • the guards do not wear rank when guarding. However they are ranked pfc, spc, sgt, and so on. They just don't wear it on their uniform while guarding. The rule is a catch 22 seeing how all the unknowns have earned the Medal of Honor that is impossible to outrank.

  • @kromeda I would have to guess it so the guard cant be out ranked by anyone with a higher rank who visits

  • Thank you for posting!

  • @Godsgirl0777 The Tomb Sentinels were established back in the 1930s, when there was only 1 Tomb. Before the Sentinels were established, visitors to the site would bring picnic food and eat there, and leave trash there, they'd vandalize the Tomb, the marble was getting chipped and damaged, etc. Some people thought this was a dishonorable way to treat the tomb of a soldier who lost everything, including his identity, so the Sentinels were established.

  • lol your kidding right?

  • Go play in traffic.

  • it wouldn't surprise me if he is not kidding. Those sentinels take their position very seriously.

  • I should have said "I heard" before that. I looked it up after this and yeah it was just an urban legend. But it still didn't surprise me.

  • are y there???

  • You better be. There are two guards behind him who will defend that tomb to the death with their rifles, bayonet, and fists.

  • And pistols

  • Yes. ;)

  • @captivemrhanky

The magazine in the m14 isn't loaded. If someone was to trespass, the guards cannot use deadly force with there sidearms unless there lives are in danger

  • and what happens, if you don´t stand up?

  • Dick Cheney will take you duck hunting.

  • A group of vets in the crowd escort you out back and kill you.

  • seriously...they kill people like you

  • okay, but where to fuck are these guys... I am waiting!!

  • You can find them at Arlington National Ceremony.

    I await the results.

  • 1. If you're going to criticize someone, you might want to make sure your spelling is correct. It's "speak" not "speck."

    2. If you knew anything about the insignia of the sentinels, you would know that the Assistant Commander of the Relief always wears three chevrons regardless of his true rank in the US Army.

    3. Those sunglasses are standard issue for the sentinels and considered part of their uniform while they are guarding the tomb.

  • Your #2 is wrong. The "Changer" wears his true rank. In Ceremonial Dress blues(ARMY), Rank insignia below SPC(e-4 non corporal) is not worn. The "Walker" Will never wear rank.

  • Shut the hell up. Are you even apart of the armed forces?

  • Comment removed

  • that infobelow guy just got owned by knowledge

  • djrock, that is most certainly not true.

  • hey, what happened to "ladies and gentlemen..." and "..thank you"?

  • This is more friendly to transgender individuals.

  • lol, i guess it is...

  • no thanks for the audience because they haven't earned it. Everytime they walk 21 steps they are thanking the tomb and the unknown.

  • the first part cut off the ladies and gentlemen, and he waits a few seconds for everyone to stand, then says thank you. the first and last parts just got cut off

  • just because he is no longer in the Army

  • ok, cool.

  • That's SGT. Justin Bickett, he was a stellar soldier and lived up to "line six" of the sentinels creed everyday.."My standard will remain perfection" Hooah!

  • Why do you say "was a stellar Soldier?" Is he okay?

  • I would think that the blue cord on his shoulder would sum it up. Although I was a 71542 in Vietnam, my dead friend was a Marine.

He won the CMH at IWO. Doug is buried there.

  • That is SO cool that you were able to make that announcement! What a great honor! Hoowah!

  • Do everyone a favor and silence yourself UCDMarine.

  • Stop pretending like you are a real marine, no one will ever disrespect the honor guard like that...goes to show how un-educated, no honor, no values, no integarty your branch has.

  • BTW, your marines will never be at our level. Get back and protect your master's ship.

  • You are most definately not a real Marine.
