  • just put a 1999 cobra motor in my dads 03 gt we put the cobra engine harness dash harness and headlight harness and ecu and bought a 1999 cobra cluster but we took the car to get reflashed so it would start the shop said the ecu wouldnt put out anything...what harness and computer did you use...???? greatly appreciate a response thanks

  • @Sal624, I used the cobra engine harness, headlight harness, ECU harness with Cobra ECU. I did not use the Cobra cluster because I had the chip burned with the PATS turned off. When you say, "...the ecu wouldn't put out anything" What do you mean? Did you take it to a Dealer and get them to flash everything together? The simplest thing is to get a chip burned to turn off the PATS and see if it starts.

  • T56 or ur original tranny?

  • Yep, T56

  • Slick car.

  • Its the GT tank with the basket removed and a 2003 Cobra fuel hat with twin Focus pumps. I never had a problem with the fuel sender, starvation, or enough fuel when I had the S/C in it. With more boost I may have needed twin Ford GT pumps and a line upgrade.

  • Hey man, what did you do about the fuel pump?? I am doing a cobra swap too. But still have a stock tank and pump.

  • 03 Cobra hat with basket removed from stock tank. I have no problems even when the fuel level is low.

  • nice car how did you get pass the PATS system on the ecu

  • Turned it off in the chip

  • I already have the cobra engine and planning on doing the swap to my GT but not so sure on what else I need.. if you could please guide me to what you did here will be really appreciated.

  • maybe need, Oil pump, fuel pump and possibly the fuel lines. Besides that i dont think too much. Unlike ricers, they made fords really all the same.

  • just one question men... did you use a return line fuel rail like cobras or you used a returnless like the GTs?

  • It depends on what you want to do. I used the stock GT fuel line all the way up to 520HP when it had the Novi 2000 on it. Now that I'm going turbo I'm using a return line. Oh, Cobras are also returnless.

  • i know you swaped your engine out with a n/a cobra motor but was it a easy swap? was it a direct fit? i want to do this with my 00 gt with a s/c cobra motor

  • Man what did you put in there to get such good numbers?

What year was the donor car?

    btw it sounds badass

  • Thanks, The motor is a 2001 Cobra crate motor that was built with 17cc dished pistons. I added the 2003 Cobra head with turbo cams. I wanted to get a base line number before I add the turbo. I really wasn't expecting such good numbers. being that it's a N/A low compression motor.

  • yeah i planned for twins as well but never could scrape up 6 grand for the hp kit. :(

so i went and kept it N/A, threw in a tight converter and slapped in some 4.30 gears. bitch flies! plus w/ a k member and some weight reduction, she's down to 3100 with everything still there. i call it the stangfast diet! :)

  • not bad! you running N/A or did you have FI?

  • Thanks, I'm still n/a until I can finish my turbo build.
