It's not a lack of emotion - she's steely, sophisticated and focused which isn't in appropriate for this dance but the problem is that she's not connecting or engaging with Dimitry. He may as well not be there. And she just seemed relieved more than anything to have gotten it over and done with. That was good advice from Bruno.

I really like the choreography on this. But I agree...I felt no connection on her part. And I just never liked her extension. But overall, I think this was her best dance.

@writergrlT Whatever the reason, it shows. But her dancing/steps are sharp and precise. I just don't care for her extension. For example Lil Kim, as tiny as she is, made her legs and arms look way longer than they are. Her lines in the Paso and Argentine Tango were wonderful. It's something that stood out about her dancing with Derek. But Mya's legs look short and stubby. Even if they are, proper extension can help that. BUT, I still love this choreography. JMO

Dmitry's choreography was technical and entertaining! And I thought Mya and Dmitry DID connect emotionally the way the dance told their story. This team was robbed season 9--Donny only won because of audience votes. Donny was in NO WAY as entertaining or as a performer as Mya, regardless of the accolades from the judges.

I so agree with you. I was upset when Dmitry tweeted that he wasn't going to be on this season. I think that sucks!! I also think that Karina is not on this season either. They don't have any really big stars this season. I'm going to guess that Derek and Nicole w/the Pussycats have a good chance this season. She can probably dance. And for the guys the male ice skater might be good too. Aden on AMC is really HOT I hope he can dance. I would luv to watch him the whole season! LOL!

I loved Mya's technique but I always felt Mya showed little to no emotion on her face. All her emotions look the same to me.

Mel and Maks tangos have more passion and are more dynamic. The chemistry between them does not exist. Dancing is about emotion and passion. This was nice but, against Mel.B. and Maks, no.

This was my favourite dance from Mya and Dmitry for the entire season. Yes, Donny was entertaining but Mya was the real winner. She should be very proud of her accomplishments

Please! Mya and Dmitry's Argentine Tango was much better. Kym did all the work all Donny did was just walk around , and what little leg work he did have it wasn't sharp at all. Mya looked like a pro in this dance. She is a class act! Team Dmya are the true winners for season 9 imo!!!

Oh My Goodness. Anyone else notice the quick legwork action at 2:58? It's right when Dmitry gives her a little lift. Her legs whip around so quickly, you can't catch it, but it looks FLAWLESS!

I am so excited! Please let them win. Mel B and Maks have been my favorite couple all along. She's so beautiful. Mya is just as pretty and Dmitry gives Maks a serious run for his money. He's very similar to Maks, but he's not as arrogant, and so I like him just as much, probably more.

LOL I couldn't agree more. Both he and Maks are great choreographers & dances who happen to be gorgeous men. While Maks is much more outspoken and revels in his bad boy image, Dmitry is more humble. I still prefer Maks just a little bit more but Dmitry is on is coattails! BTW, I've been reading Maks' blog about the show and I think I sense just a tad bit of jealousy from him. He doesn't always give Dima his credit, perhaps because he knows there's a new hot euro in town! LOL

No she's not. Her dad is Jamacin and her mom is of Italian decent. I thought that one of the ladies could be her mom, but neither one of them were. Mya tweeted that her mom was going to be in the audience last Monday night. If you watch the vd of her 70's samba the camera show's a white woman with glasses on in black when Len was talking to Mya. I think that was her mom.

Cody didn't deserve to be in the top 5 and just coz of Julianne's popularity he made it to the top 5. Tony Braxton deserved it more.DWTS shouldn't have Alec MAzo on the show again coz he has no personality which will win the audience. He had good partners this season- Natalie and season 7-Tony Braxton.

No, I really must disagree. I think it was the choreography that didn't get her much of a chance to show her passion. There was almost too much posing and lifting and not enough dancing like donny's was. Watch the ruotine with that it mind and maybe you will see what I mean.

No, I think you area bit prejudice. Donny's tango was angry and smoldering. he hit the attitude exactly right and I think the cance steps for both couples was perfect-- the difference was the attitude.  I think frankly, dmitry's choreography was lacking in showing off Mya's intensity.

Yes, it's serious but not as serious as Paso and it has more "passion" and is more sultry. But that said, I still LOVE their tango. If/when they make it to the semi-finals/finals, I hope they do this dance again and shoot for their 10s.

I have to agree with you Mskakapichi mya's reaction or lack of reaction to dmitry sometimes puzzles me, like there are times when it's clear that a friendly hug is o.k and appropriate and she just doesn't acknowledge it or even realise that there is a space for it, I LOVE HER but she does puzzle me because apart from when she is dancing/singing she is not very emotive and she isn't very affectionate either (except for this time) Dmitry always initiates the hugs LOVELY MAN! open up mya DAMN! lol

I've been reading all of the comments and I think she is use to keeping it professional, which is really good when you are working. I also think that she is shy and her sense of humor is the type that gives you a hard time. That's her way of flirting with him. I don't think Dmitry would be acting the way he does if she was straight out a b***h to him. I think that they do like each other. Some people that are shy sometimes come off as being aloof it's their defense mechanism.

I think the judges are desperate to critique, because she's that good. I mean the nitpicking with too much content, not enough emotion is just BULL! I saw plenty of emotion and a lot of push and pull connection in this performance. This was the best dance EVER on this show so far, and definately the best of the night. 27! WTF!

I totally agree with the judges...Mya killed the technique part, no doubt about it. But she tweeted several times that she was worried about this dance....I think it got to her and she didn't completely sink into the character. Either way DMya = GREAT!! :D
