i downloaded this and watched them all with my 3 month old. she is interested in the videos. but i think the videos go from one word to the next too fast. id rather make my own flash cards then waste money on this gimmick... i have a strong backround in sales and this is just playing on you the Consumers desire to make your child smarter... just turn subtitles on everything your watching so your child can see words that way. and make flash cards.
i bought this for my daughter and she watched them from about birth til 6 months and she loved it and was saying some of the words at a pretty young age. but as she got older and started crawling around more i couldnt get her to sit and watch it. wasnt too good at keeping her attention
For all the goofs out there saying "It doesn't teach children to pronounce their words" That's what the PARENT is for, any good parent will not just stick their child in front of the TV and leave them. My advice would be to sit there and watch it with your child and pronounce it with them, this is not a bad product, if any bad results came from this program it isn't the program itself, it's called BAD PARENTING.
this is a very poor way to teach a child how to read, children need to learn phonetics, they need to learn how to look at a word they've never seen and sound it out, teaching a child how to read thru memorization limits their ability to read to only what they've memorized, when they come across a word they've never seen they'll be lost...
Well done! I taught my kids to read using BrillKids Little Reader and found it to be much more comprehensive (3,000 words vs a few hundred) and it's customizable with your personal pictures and words. They offer a 2 week trial period and don't require a credit card upfront. Use BKAFF40902 at checkout to save a little extra $. If you spend 5 minutes on the BrillKids forums you'll find hundreds of babies reading and the best early learning parent community online. Good job teaching your sweetie!
All this really is, is doing stuff with a child that the parent should do. My son was not even 2 years old yet using words like actually & probably. :) All that was, was me deciding I didn't want to do baby talk & I wasn't dumbing down my talk either. Not all children are the same though & parents shouldn't put too much pressure because my daughter is a totally different story. She was four & had to go to speech therapy . Best thing to do is just play with & love your child.
@coolbeverage I never implied that simply producing a child made you an expert. I think there are very few experts on the subject matter of raising children. If there were so many, then the methods we are "supposed" to use wouldn't change every 6 months. I say use your maternal and paternal instincts to raise your child in the best way you can. You do not need a degree to do that.
While I haven't used these videos, I find it amusing that people are assuming those that do simply stick their children in front of a television all day. I am fairly certain this is not the case. Say your child is awake 12 hours a day, 30 minutes out of the day watching a video is not going to be detrimental to their physical and mental health.
I started my kid as soon has he turned 2 months old & now he is 5 mnths old and is able to find words in the dictionary and even understand slang and everything. I truly think that in just under a year, my baby will be able to read prestiage novels and soo nbe able to go to skip school and go straight to college and learn even more. Thanks M.B.C.R. for making my baby a genious
I wish i could have, hope mothers who are using this products. i wish you could give it to us so that our kids could try too.we just dont have enough money to purchase it.
This video is amazing. I believe in this product. It is better to use this product than seeing your kids playing everyday. This will only use little time for your kids. More POWER to your baby can read!!!
As a graduate student in psychology (6 years) I have to speak here. This product is similar to the baby Einstein scam. Even if it makes your baby more capable of speaking, this has nothing to do with future academic ability. In fact, there is evidence that overstimulation at early ages can deter future academic ability (one hypothesis is that it reduces motivation). I have scholarly articles regarding the subject, and if anyone wants them feel free to send me a message. Let your kids be kids!
@coolbeverage I'm sorry, But i'm afraid you are wrong. Kids LOVE learning. Would you forbid your baby or toddler to talk? Tell them "Just be a kid'! No you would not. Learning to read at the same time they are learning to speak is the same thing! I would rather do this than have my child struggle in school, and start to hate learning!
@thewestvangs If you are attempting to say that one has to have children to know anything about them then you are wrong. Humans can parent children without knowing anything about cognitive development, and simply being a mother or father does not mean one knows everything there is about children. Having a degree in child psychology allows for a much broader understanding of the subject (without confounds). If, however, you are simply curious, then I will answer your question with one.
@ianeelee A five year old can still benefit from this program. I say it is defenitly worth a try! I am teaching a 4 year old to read right now, and it is working.
This is an excellent video! Soo Expensive though. And it's supposed to children shouldn't watch junk tv. This is learning and is effective. If u would like to hug and kiss your son all the time don't be surprised when he's a wimp and is always crying to mommy. You cannot smother a child no matter what age. You're going to be the mom that kids avoid and will have ur child moving out at 18 when they can. Either that or you're son maybe more woman like if you get what I mean.
I am a parent with a son I am hugging and loving 24/7 and also teaching him to talk, walk, read, and most of all love others while I play with him. My son loves to watch videos like this WITH ME. There is no reason to leave a child in front of a tv. And btw, children that young shouldn't watch tv at all. He can't even see the picture yet, and you can hurt his eye sight by letting him try to focus on the screen. Oh, and if you're going to call someone dumb, spell check your own writing first.
@dmj081809 I leave programs like this on while my son and I are playing, I don't force him to watch it, but we live in a very active household, something like a TV, Computer is always on and my son always stares at the screen of one of them, I wouldn't suggest he stare into a bright ceiling lamp but he does that too when feeding, I mean what can ya do? Cut the power in your house and live like a caveman, it's going to happen either way. Also, nothing is good for kids anymore.
If you decide to sit your child in front of a tv, these are what they should be watching. Keep in mind, you're also teaching them to sit in front of a tv instead of doing physical activity. I'm sure the baby in this video would love to see his parents' faces instead of the tv. I understand some people feel it's more important to be able to brag about your baby being able to read than it is to actually give your child love and attention.
that the dummest thing a person can say. i can guess by your illerate comment that u r not a parent. you should be happy that these tools are available to help kids learn to read. Reading is knowledge and knowledge is power. are you going to hug and play with your child 24 hrs a day? maybe you would, then you would raise a child who's slow and illerate. The apples never falls far from the tree.
@dmj081809 I give an equal ammount of attention and learning tools to my child. TV isn't the greatest thing for them but kids everywhere have themselves glued to some sort of electronic device, Cell phones cause radiation, TV causes eyesight problems, Computers cause brain damage, I mean really...nothing is good for kids anymore, too much sun, too much juice, too much stimulation, not enough stimulation. It all depends on the parenting.
Maybe its me, but why does a baby need to read? Why do kids have to grow up so fast? It seems so silly to me. If you have a healthy child, they will thrive and grow in the right time. Traditional (reading to your child) and interacting with your child still works. To me this looks like you are programming them like a computer. Let a baby be a baby. Think about it....please.

@tallpumps Just reading isnt enough. Reading well, fast, accurate and with complete retention is the goal. The important thing about starting young is taking advantage of the explosion of mental development that occurs early in life and NEVER again. If you miss the window you can never get it back. Dont you wish you could read a novel in 1.5 hours in one sitting? The advantage is tremendous.
these videos are ok. a friend of mine gave me one for my kids and it was hard getting my kids to pay attention to them. I did however come across a similar video called Monki See Monki Doo that I found on google that is fabulous. Way more captivating but similar to these videos. My kids liked the excitement Monki See had going on.
This program does not teach children to read, it teaches sound association through classical learning theory. Remember Pavlov's dogs... it's like that. As a student of Psychology children need to be moving around, playing, and interacting with adults... that's the best way for them to learn educational material. Do that, and your child will be a successful student.
@ rainynorthwest: it is conditioning. It is NOT like Pavlov's dogs because the desired response is not a dis-associative behavior. You commented on this vid without any research at all. This is only a first step: sound & visual associations. The program is interactive & does require parental involvement & it is parent led. It incorporates movement, play, audio & visual stimulation. Sound association is part of learning to read.
@rainynorthwest I don't think any sane parent plans on depending this product alone to educate their child, obviously anybody who has a child will be bringing them around adults and spending time with them, if not they shouldn't have a child in the first place, there being no reason to buy this product in the first place, so I wouldn't worry. I have this product and we as a family watch about 15-20 minutes and explain to our son what he is learning.
i love these videos and my 11month old daughter seems to really be payin attention and lurnin small thinigs..i agree if it dusnt teach her to read by 1 atleast by 3 she will be able to understand alot more!!!
this does not teach reading.. it just teaches them what a whole word is by sight .. if you drill something enough into a childs head they will remember it... Show them The word Toes enough they will know that is toes when they see it... it is NOT reading .. it is memory. Such a scam. This company needs SHUT DOWN
Even if it does just get them to memorize the words, that's a start in the right direction. If they have these words already memorized by the time they're like, 3 or 4, it'll be so much easier EXPLAINING to them that this word sounds like this or that because of this part of the word and stuff. It's just a jump start in reading.
They obviously start by memorizing the words, but it's just the same with speach, first a child memorizes a word, then its meaning and in a later stage they learn how to use it along with other words to form sentences. It's not a scam, just a different stimulus than what we are used to see :) oh, and sorry for my English :P
firstly. if i show my baby the word toes and they point to or say "toes" this is not reading? even though theyve memorized that the word TOES is toes? really? secondly, it does in fact teach them to read IT EXPLAINS THAT, they learn to transfer the rules aparent in words like toes and dog and AROGANT, they see "th" in thumb and learn that th together is the thhh sound, they learn the sounds of letters along with the rules in which they should be employed... it in fact does a wonderful job..?
@jenjanea I agree with most of what you are saying... i think we all read WHOLE word unless we are borderline illiterates. But these DVDs do combine the phonetic approach. I have them and use them. It starts to group similiar words like Bat, Hat, Sat, Cat... in order to instill the "at" sound, Baby, Bubbles, Ball BUH. My 9 mo. just started reading these words responding verbally or by signing a few days ago. I posted a video check it out.
i've been seeing this on TV and intrigued... this video came up when I looked it up to see what the content was... so... it's associating the visual of the word with the sound of the word... not actual reading... what happens when you encounter a word you haven't seen?
Also... it seems this tactic could applied with actual interaction with your child... instead of an artificial teacher (TV), like how we did in the olden days of my own youth (before DVD players). :)
does this really work, i have 2 kids, one is 2 and one is 5. i have heard of this programs a few time but is scared to buy it because im worry it will be a waste of my money,..
For all of the 'high and mighty' on here who want to criticize others for asking about downloading the videos, here is something to think about; Just because "you can't put a price on your child's education" may be a convenient slogan to throw around to impugn others, keep in mind that there is a large number of children, who by no fault of their own, actually are poor (and $200 can be the difference between food and rent for some families). If their is a program that can help-- continued below
them to learn at a speed greater than they (possibly) could otherwise, then they have every right to have access to it. As a parent, if you don't have the financial ability to provide your child with every possible advantage ,then do it by whatever means you can. And in my opinion, if that means breaking a copyright law (most of which are being being amended anyway) so that your child can have a small advantage in life, then thank god for parents like you who care, because we need more like you.
So in my last comment, I will point you in the right direction to obtain videos such as this. Simply enough, download a program called 'Bittorrent', then do a Google search for the name of the movie you are looking for followed by the word "torrent". If you can't figure it out from there, then do some research online. I only point you in the right direction, do with the info what you will.
dk chris; actually the point of this program is to help your child, and alot of educational videos are, that is what chrismdmb is talking about, after all, so no, its not plonking them in front of a tv, its using the tv as a tool, its the same as showing them flashcards, only its allready printed out and played out for you. you do however still have to work with your baby, watch it with them, work with them, this program encourages extreme amounts of attention (positive) towards your child...
For those of you that are thinking about bootlegging the dvds a woman was just sentenced to 30yrs in prison for bootlegging 3 dvds just buy the program its worth it.
This program is absolutely amazing. I just got it today my daughter is 15months and she already read 2 words eyes and nose. and said them for the first time. so if your on the fench about this product dont be it really works.
The American Association of Pediatrics has consistently said for over a decade that babies should not look at TV until they are at least 2 years old as it severely interferes with their brain development. This is just wrong and completely unnecessary. I taught my son to read when he was 3 the old fashion way and he skipped 2 grades and will graduate two years ahead at the top of his class next month. I didn't allow him to watch any TV until he was 4 years old.
@blibjorb My thoughts are, it's going to happen anyway, especially if you have other children in the house. Not only that, we have children 7-12 years old running around with a cell phone, as if that isn't damaging? I wouldn't think staring straight into a ceiling fan light would be any better for their eyes but that happens as well. I don't think a few minutes of screen time through out a productive activity filled day is so bad honestly, you just have to know your limits
I bought this program and it really works. I think it's a great investment. I have a 22 month old son and he's only been using this program for about a month and is already reading close to 25 words.
Not really. They can charge whatever they want. If people don't want to pay the price, you can make your own video, it's not hard. I personally didn't mind paying $200 for all the stuff I got. I got 5 dvds, 6 books, 5 sets of these huge cards that pull out, then a thick stack of flash cards, a cd of sing alongs... I think there's more in there too, but I haven't gotten that far yet. It's only wrong to charge someone a crazy price for a necessity, but here you have a choice.
This is excellent and critical to help our children get back on the top of the world scale for learning. Without words, it is impossible to express thoughts. Express your excitement with your child when he or she gets the words correctly.
i downloaded this and watched them all with my 3 month old. she is interested in the videos. but i think the videos go from one word to the next too fast. id rather make my own flash cards then waste money on this gimmick... i have a strong backround in sales and this is just playing on you the Consumers desire to make your child smarter... just turn subtitles on everything your watching so your child can see words that way. and make flash cards.

kenbear2725 1 year ago

Do that, and your child will be a successful student.
rainynorthwest 2 years ago
@ rainynorthwest: it is conditioning. It is NOT like Pavlov's dogs because the desired response is not a dis-associative behavior. You commented on this vid without any research at all. This is only a first step: sound & visual associations. The program is interactive & does require parental involvement & it is parent led. It incorporates movement, play, audio & visual stimulation. Sound association is part of learning to read.
tmomof6 1 year ago
@rainynorthwest I don't think any sane parent plans on depending this product alone to educate their child, obviously anybody who has a child will be bringing them around adults and spending time with them, if not they shouldn't have a child in the first place, there being no reason to buy this product in the first place, so I wouldn't worry. I have this product and we as a family watch about 15-20 minutes and explain to our son what he is learning.

i love these videos and my 11month old daughter seems to really be payin attention and lurnin small thinigs..i agree if it dusnt teach her to read by 1 atleast by 3 she will be able to understand alot more!!!
preshuzladdee 2 years ago
this does not teach reading.. it just teaches them what a whole word is by sight .. if you drill something enough into a childs head they will remember it... Show them The word Toes enough they will know that is toes when they see it... it is NOT reading .. it is memory. Such a scam. This company needs SHUT DOWN
jupzchris 2 years ago
Even if it does just get them to memorize the words, that's a start in the right direction. If they have these words already memorized by the time they're like, 3 or 4, it'll be so much easier EXPLAINING to them that this word sounds like this or that because of this part of the word and stuff. It's just a jump start in reading.
Littleone89 2 years ago
They obviously start by memorizing the words, but it's just the same with speach, first a child memorizes a word, then its meaning and in a later stage they learn how to use it along with other words to form sentences. It's not a scam, just a different stimulus than what we are used to see :) oh, and sorry for my English :P
filipalpg 2 years ago
firstly. if i show my baby the word toes and they point to or say "toes" this is not reading? even though theyve memorized that the word TOES is toes? really? secondly, it does in fact teach them to read IT EXPLAINS THAT, they learn to transfer the rules aparent in words like toes and dog and AROGANT, they see "th" in thumb and learn that th together is the thhh sound, they learn the sounds of letters along with the rules in which they should be employed... it in fact does a wonderful job..?
kyrawolfe1 2 years ago
Dude...that is exactly how adults read. It is definitely reading. The kids won't necessarily have phonemic awareness, but they'll be reading.
jenjanea 2 years ago
@jenjanea I agree with most of what you are saying... i think we all read WHOLE word unless we are borderline illiterates. But these DVDs do combine the phonetic approach. I have them and use them. It starts to group similiar words like Bat, Hat, Sat, Cat... in order to instill the "at" sound, Baby, Bubbles, Ball BUH. My 9 mo. just started reading these words responding verbally or by signing a few days ago. I posted a video check it out.
Malbrojia 1 year ago
i've been seeing this on TV and intrigued... this video came up when I looked it up to see what the content was... so... it's associating the visual of the word with the sound of the word... not actual reading... what happens when you encounter a word you haven't seen?
Also... it seems this tactic could applied with actual interaction with your child... instead of an artificial teacher (TV), like how we did in the olden days of my own youth (before DVD players). :)

And in my opinion, if that means breaking a copyright law (most of which are being being amended anyway) so that your child can have a small advantage in life, then thank god for parents like you who care, because we need more like you.
chrismdmb 2 years ago
So in my last comment, I will point you in the right direction to obtain videos such as this. Simply enough, download a program called 'Bittorrent', then do a Google search for the name of the movie you are looking for followed by the word "torrent". If you can't figure it out from there, then do some research online. I only point you in the right direction, do with the info what you will.

That's great parenting! Just plop your baby in front of the TV, SET IT AND FORGET IT!
CREEPY!
djchrisgeo 2 years ago
dk chris; actually the point of this program is to help your child, and alot of educational videos are, that is what chrismdmb is talking about, after all, so no, its not plonking them in front of a tv, its using the tv as a tool, its the same as showing them flashcards, only its allready printed out and played out for you. you do however still have to work with your baby, watch it with them, work with them, this program encourages extreme amounts of attention (positive) towards your child...

For those of you that are thinking about bootlegging the dvds a woman was just sentenced to 30yrs in prison for bootlegging 3 dvds just buy the program its worth it.
mommy2be0133 2 years ago
This program is absolutely amazing. I just got it today my daughter is 15months and she already read 2 words eyes and nose. and said them for the first time. so if your on the fench about this product dont be it really works.
mommy2be0133 2 years ago
The American Association of Pediatrics has consistently said for over a decade that babies should not look at TV until they are at least 2 years old as it severely interferes with their brain development. This is just wrong and completely unnecessary. I taught my son to read when he was 3 the old fashion way and he skipped 2 grades and will graduate two years ahead at the top of his class next month. I didn't allow him to watch any TV until he was 4 years old.
blibjorb 2 years ago
@blibjorb My thoughts are, it's going to happen anyway, especially if you have other children in the house. Not only that, we have children 7-12 years old running around with a cell phone, as if that isn't damaging? I wouldn't think staring straight into a ceiling fan light would be any better for their eyes but that happens as well. I don't think a few minutes of screen time through out a productive activity filled day is so bad honestly, you just have to know your limits

something slower that focuses on each body part and word for longer would be better for such a young baby. this one seems to go too fast.

I bought this program and it really works. I think it's a great investment. I have a 22 month old son and he's only been using this program for about a month and is already reading close to 25 words.

what is wrong is the 200 plus dollar price!
MRtoker2007 3 years ago

That's just how I feel. You can feel differently and I respect that. ^_^

why purchase the your baby can read videos when you can download them on the internet or i could send you the dvds for 4 bucks each..
MRtoker2007 3 years ago
where can i download them from?? i am very intrested in buying this for my children
cklonek1 3 years ago
This is excellent and critical to help our children get back on the top of the world scale for learning. Without words, it is impossible to express thoughts. Express your excitement with your child when he or she gets the words correctly.
