  • I knew he retired but did not know he had cancer. RIP. Very generous man.

  • REST IN PEACE BILL

  • The first time I met Bill, he made me laugh harder than I'd laugh in a long time. He was a good man, a great radio personality, and I know a few folks who say he was an incredible friend. He is missed. RIP

  • Great weatherman too, thanks Bill RIP

  • It was Bill's business as to his reasons for not sharing with his listeners that he had cancer.

I was sad when he retired and sad that AZ has lost someone that brought such joy to sooooo many.

My condolences to his family, friends, and his "side kick" Beth McDonald.

  • @Anita5162 yes, cancer is an incredible personal challenge. If Bill didn't want to have the information public, than more power to him. Those who are "upset" need to get a life and let all others who are suffering with anything have a right to their privacy. He didn't owe any of us anything! And yes, special condolences to Beth.

  • RIP Bill, to those of you who are angry that he didn't share his diagnosis....Shame on you, it isn't anyone's business what this man was sick with. If he felt like sharing what was wrong with him then he would have. Unless you have cancer yourself you have no idea what it it like, and everyone deals with it differently. At least now he isn't suffering.

  • Bill Austin passed away at 10AM Wednesday, June 2, 2010.

  • Why didn't Bill level with his fans when it came to his illness. The fact that he is suffering with cancer and didn't talk about it takes away from the dignity of his career. People who suffer with this disease would've found comfort in knowing that they are not alone. A lot of people felt because of cheated this omission. The end of his career was like one of his many jokes that bombed, I have an insincere half smile on my face and unpleasant feelings in my heart. It didn't have to be that way

  • @rnemger I so agree with you. They shouldn't have left the listeners hanging and what do they think we are...dopes?! When someone is gone from their job more and more and then comes back thinner and bald, something is going on. They could at least told the listeners something. I emailed the lady that works with them, Lisa, and when I didn't get a response back from her, I knew what I said in my email was correct.

  • @azgypsy Yep, it's all about you. Bill owed you or me nothing. For whatever reason he chose to not have his illness broadcast. Who knows why, but it certainly did not dimish the man and his wants and beliefs or what he gave to us. Grow up. "Dopes" like you are probably why he did''nt want want this "public" knowledge.

  • Does Bill Austin have cancer?

  • I believe he does. Even his voice has changed in the past few months. Just my opinion, but he sure looks like he's been/going through chemo. He's also lost a lot of weight.
