  • pure dynamite

  • No, I mean what a 'kin great barnstormer of a track this is.

  • What a great track this is.

  • John Peel played this one a few weeks before he died. It was also a regular on his Top Gear show back in the early 70's

Who's that guy at the very beginning of the clip?

  • @Poopingbotham The guy at the beginning is Stanley Unwin. There are some good Youtube clips of him

  • I love how sloppy and energetic music was then

  • @pretorious700 this dudes still gigging and givin large just read his book wat a life!! u gotta hear his version of "all along the watchtower"

  • Dale duro Seannnnnnnnnn , no atraques en ningún puerto .Siempre navegando y con los Ducks tocandoooooooooo

  • Rollercoaster to the Primal Scream!!!

  • Just stumbled across this - ain't it fantastic? I have the first album on vinyl - definitley back on the play list!

  • When I was in my early teens, Alex Belmont (Martin's younger brother) was one of my best mates. In fact we played in "youth club" bands together so I heard all about Ducks Deluxe as it was Martin's band at that time.

The only copy of "Coast To Coast" that I have is a copy that I made on a crappy cassette recorder from Alex's copy of the single as I couldnt afford to buy my own copy with my meagre pocket money! Its a superb fiery, kick-ass performance and should have been a huge hit!

    I

  • Love this song and they're playin like Bandits....Sean's voice is pretty shot, but Hey........that's rocknroll

  • yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa .....`para comenzar la semana nos vamos de Costa a costaaaaa

  • brilliant.

  • Saw Ducks Deluxe at Newton Park Teacher Training College near Bath in the early 1970s; great memories.

  • @yeojohn i can see newton park fom here,

  • 'kin 'ell that was great!!

I've been familiar with their name, never heard their music before.

I'm off to ebay to look for a cd.

    Thanks!!

  • @6758pasi Might I suggest "Goodbye Nashville Hello Camden Town" - a double compilation of pub rock classics, and very reasonably priced on Amazon

  • @Wiganmaher Thanks for reminding me about it.I had read about it in a mojo article years ago,had totally forgot it's title.Checked it out, half the artists on it were unknown to me.Will buy it.

  • A band that was the very opposite of being made entirely of Styrofoam. They put the bomp in my swamp back in the day. Yeah Ducks!!!

  • R.I.P, Tim Roper !

  • We want some charisma in our rock,

that's the reason they never made it,

Sounds fuckin tight, but that's not enough,

there's thousands of such boogie woogie

    bands about •

  • Comment removed

  • Paul - listen to their first album - charisma by the bucketful - simply given to an undeserving public! They did make it by the way - just in different bands - Rumour, Motors, Attractions, Tyla Gang etc.....

  • Without "pub rock" there would have been no punks or pistols

  • Without Led Zep there would've been no

    pub rock.....sooo ?

  • In the sense that Ducks were sick of the poser band Led Zep had become, sure they get all the credit

  • Wich means.....without Led • no Pistols ?☺

  • Nah, take your pick, Fleetwood Mac, the whole Disco thing, rebellion against the mainstream.

  • nice pliers.

  • i love you all. for real.

    coast to coast, of couse,

    paul

  • Great RnR history. Thanks

  • is the guy in the right the guy that was in The Rumour?

  • Yes belushipower, that's right, his name is Martin Belmont late of the Rumour, and Nick Lowe's Cowboy Outfit,

  • I had the single of this, on RCA. Saw them once at the Sundown Edmonton, December 73, with Brinsley Schwartz, Bees Make Honey and Golden Earring. Great to see this footage.

  • Great to see Andy McMaster on keyboards. Used to work with him when he was an engraver.Solo single "Can't get drunk with out you babe" Still got the single must be worth a fortune.

  • Starts so unlikely and ends so rocking. Saw them third on a bill at the Roundhouse and Sean introduces themselves as "the greatest xxxn rock and roll band ever," and I thought, what? But I wore out one copy of that first album. Afterwards there was Tyla Gang, Martin in Parker's Rumour, and the others in the Motors. But what happened to Tim? By the other comments it seems he died. But did he play after the Ducks? Thanks for adding.

  • Fuck YEA!!! Saw 'em on July 1, 1975 at their last gig at the 100 Club in London...Tyla's encore remark "ya don't fuckin' deserve this", and he was right. We shoulda supported 'em better. A great live band.

  • fantastic !!!!...whatever happened to all the fun in world !!!???....yes Martin Belmont i believe.....

  • real rock and roll! is that a young Martin Belmont?

  • Great video- saw them lots at the Kensington. Those were the days....ahhhhhhh.

  • Absolutely - loads of different styles and sounds as fresh today as it did in the early seventies

  • Brilliant - loved it then, love it now - did you know that this song was banned by the BBC in the 70s (why?) - it got no airplay on Radio 1 or TOTP - would have and should have been a top ten single...

  • rock on!

  • Excellent ! I didn't know this band ! Thanks

  • It was great to see this clip of Ducks Deluxe. Most of all Tim Roper! Hope you are rocking in heaven. Cheers!

  • Sad to here Tim no longer with us. He was always the most approachable and chatty at gigs.RIP

  • Magic Old Farts Rule

    Cheers Rev Tony& COCO.

  • This is one of the best clips on YouTube. Go, Tyla, go!

  • Pub Rock and roll in it's glory days. Thanks for the post.

  • Great!

  • Thanks for adding this !

Ducks Deluxe : one of the greatest underated band ..
