I haven't been involved in street racing, only some high speed city cruising (you know a convoy running up and down the city after midnight). Of course touge involves much skill... I've done some mountain corners before... But still I can't say SR is lame. Both can be very fun and deadly... Happy driving! Cheers

man ae86 is a shitty and i mean SHITTY car. I love the anime and all but real talk unless you are a freaking super star at driving you will get your doors blown off pretty much anywhere by A LOT Of newer cars. evena s13 in all of it shittyness is way better then a 86. It was a great car in its day for what it was. too many people let the anime brainwash them into thinking its a BEASTLY EVO/GTR ASSWOOPIN MACHINE

@niceprince Horsepower is great, in a straight line. For the types of racing in ID you need a balance of performance and handling. To push it over the top you need a driver that knows the car and the course better than they know the layout of their own home.

On that corner where the R32 drifted and the AE86 didn't showed that there was really no need for the driver to drift that corner. At times, it's faster to just grip a turn than drift it. Oh yeah, for a lot of old schoolers and import race fans, the AE85 and AE86 are legendary automobiles.

Amen the AE86 is the shit. and drifting isnt the best way to get through all corners. Thats why if your watching races on TV there gripping most of the time. Drifting is great for hairpins though. When racing you need to have a good variety of grip and drift. Nice way to put it falconx1.

@falconx1 That turn however the 86 was rooted into a drainage ditch on the left side, anchoring it for a harder turn around that corner giving it the inside line. Horrible for the tirewall but great fro grabbing a quick lead in a course that has a lot of curves and turns.

stock maybe underpowerd but nobody drifts a stock car jack ass. i seen these cars look all stock and have 450hp under the hood. so dont be a jackass as an american i like this car alot. i have gotten the stock engine to spin the rear tires on dry ground so underpower dont mean much i can still drift a stock one.

No ones going to race a stock ae86, people would atleast increase the hp through NA parts, ITB, ecu, muffler, airflow, and since the ae86 is a fairly light weight machine, it'd be interesting on the touge, maybe it won't win in a drag race.

Yeah, a stock evo will probably beat a ae86, but the evo is in a diff class, its a 4wd, turbo car, the ae86 is a NA, but can have a 4agze, rwd.

Touge = the only place where an underpowered car can absolutely destroy a much more powerful car. It's not about horsepower, it's about technique and ability to drive the car. Remember, cartoon or not, it's not a drag race. Corners are involved, and it's not a simpleton's game.

Although I am impressed that you researched those numbers, drag racing isn't the end-all-be-all. Once you can shift and launch better than the other guy, that's it, no more technique is required. Touge is another animal

@222emperor ive seen light tune ae86s kick EVO's asses before. The ae86 driver was a lot better than the Evo driver. Plus the EVO naturally(4wd) has a tendency to under-steer and requires more braking than an FR. Not to mention the AE86 is really light and handles better.

Technically in the anime tak's friend (iggy) gets an AE85 LEVIN, which he thinks is an 86 by looks. In the movie it really isn't specified although they both look rather similar hard to tell unless you looked at the engine internals. 86 has DOHC 85 has SOHC!!
